Chapter 19

Clarity Parker

I sighed as I walked into the Cortex. Ray and Felicity looked over at me. "Why do you look like you just saw a ghost?" Ray asked.

"Because technically I did." They stared at me in confusion. "My dead fiancé is actually alive. He knows I have a boyfriend, he now knows that the child I was pregnant with is dead, as is our dog. He's pretty much lost everything and I'm still in shock about him being alive."

"Dead fiancé?" Ray questioned. I nodded. "Well, I see yours came back to life. As did Caitlin's."

"Ray, I'm sorry. I forgot about Anna. I-" He held up his hand.

"It's fine, Clarity. I understand." Felicity frowned. "So I was just telling Felicity that maybe her, Iris, Eddie, Barry, you, and I could go get dinner since the others can't come. Triple date? Help get your mind off things," he told me. I nodded, smiling a bit.

"That sounds amazing," I told Ray. He nodded.

"It's a fancy place so I hope you have a dress." I groaned. "You have one it's just not fancy, is it?" I shrugged.

"Fancy enough," I grumbled before speeding to my apartment.

"Holly!" I called out as I walked in the apartment. She looked out from the hallway that her room was in. "I'm going to some fancy dinner for a triple date." She grimaced. "Yeah. People. I know."

"No I'm disgusted by the fact that there's three couples. That's disgusting." I chuckled.

"I'm going to quickly get ready and then go. You're on your own for dinner. There's twenty dollars on the counter if you want to order food. The only person allowed over is Emma. Got it?" She nodded. "And make sure your homework is done. If you need help...just cheat and search up the answer online." She laughed and nodded again.

"Got it. Go get ready then have fun. You're going on a date." I chuckled. "Just don't get pregnant," she said in all seriousness. "I don't need to be an aunt at 17." I nodded.

"I promise that I won't make you an aunt. I don't have plans for that anytime soon."

I gave Barry a quick peck on the lips before saying, "Sorry I'm a bit late. I couldn't really find a dress in my closet." They all nodded and I saw Iris. Right. Her and Eddie were going. "Hi, Iris," I greeted. She smiled at me.

"I heard the good news about Will." I scoffed.

"I wouldn't deem it as good news if a man woke up with his whole life ripped away from him," I muttered. She frowned. Barry nudged my arm and I realized how bitchy that sound.

"I'm sorry. I-" I cut Iris off.

"No! No. I'm so sorry. I didn't realize how bitchy I sounded. I didn't mean to come off that way." I looked to Ray. "Are we ready to go in? Please tell me we're ready to go in." He chuckled.

"Yeah. We were just waiting on you." I groaned.

"Fuck. I'm always the trouble child." Everyone laughed and Barry kissed my forehead.

"But it's why we love you," he told me. I smiled slightly as we walked in. I expected it to be on the louder side but was surprised when I was quiet. I looked up from Barry and realized that it was completely empty.

"I figured it'd be better if I bought the restaurant for ourselves tonight." We all stared at him in shock. "Too much?" Ray asked. Felicity nodded, patting his chest.

"Just a bit," she told him. I chuckled and followed them to our table.

"You look amazing," Barry told me.

"You look good in a suit, Bar. Why don't you wear one everyday for me? You know, besides the red one," I muttered. Eddie frowned at us when I remembered that we had to tell him our identities. "Sorry," I mouthed.

"Okay. We can still go ice skating or go bowling or something," Barry told me after the triple date failed. I chuckled. "Come on. I hate that you didn't have a good night. We could go to Jitters or something. Please, just let me take you somewhere," Barry begged.

"Bar, it's fine. Why don't we head back to my place?" I suggested.

"Or we can go to mine. Joe is out for the night and Iris lives with Eddie. We could watch a movie," he said. I nodded.

"That sounds amazing," I told him, smiling up at him. Barry grinned and sped us back to Joe's house. He set me down in the living room before clearing off the couch of all the uncomfortable throw pillows that Iris always insisted on having. I went to sit down next to Barry on the couch when he pulled me on his lap. I laughed and leaned my head on his chest as he played with my hair.

"Again, I'm sorry about tonight. I didn't realize Iris would be so upset about Eddie keeping our secret," he told me. I shrugged.

"It's fine. I still had a good time anyways. It took my mind off of the whole Will situation. I just can't believe he's alive." Barry nodded in agreement. "You know that game that Caitlin told you that she used to play? How she would give up everything just to spend one more moment with Ronnie?" He nodded. "I used to play that before I started working with you. Before you distracted me from his memory. I mean Will was my whole world. Yeah, I'd think about you everyday when I'd call the dog for his food." Barry chuckled. "But I had loved Will. He was going to be my husband and we were going to have a child. I hated Wells for the longest time. It was his fault that I lost everything."

"And then?" Barry asked, still playing with my hair. I looked up at him.

"And then I found you again. I started working with you in forensics and as a hero. Everything was perfect. And then today Singh told me that I was someone's emergency contact. What I still don't understand is how they never identified Will until after he woke up. They didn't do any DNA tests, no dental records, no missing persons reports. No fingerprinting or facial recognition either. He was alive for over a year. We were going to work for STAR Labs. I just don't understand how no one identified him," I said. Barry sat up straighter, making me sit up and look at him.

"Clarity, what if someone didn't want him to be identified? What if they wanted him to stay in a coma?" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"But why? Who would want to do that?" I questioned. Barry shrugged.

"Maybe they saw him as a threat."

"Barry, he's not a metahuman and he was going to work for a facility that does thorough background checks. He worked for BSO in forensics with me back in Florida. How do you work for a police department if you're seen as a threat?"

"You have someone on the inside. It's not that hard. Obviously he was a distraction or a threat to somebody. But who?" My eyes widened.

"Barry, me. He may be a distraction to me. Look, I didn't want to say anything, but you talk in your sleep." He frowned. "You kept mumbling about Wells being the Reverse Flash. What if that's true? What if Wells planned for Will to die, except he survived the lightning bolt? Somebody didn't want me distracted and they were willing to kill to make sure that it didn't happen." I stood up, speeding upstairs to change into spare clothes I kept at Joe's house before speeding back down to Barry. "I need to go talk to someone."

"You're not seriously going to try to contact him, are you?" I shrugged. "Clarity, don't. What if you're right and he kills you?" I opened my mouth to argue when he cut me off. "No. I'm not taking any chances. I love you too much to lose you. We are going to figure this out together." I sighed in defeat. Barry knew he won the argument. Suddenly his phone buzzed and he sped out of the house.

"Sure. Just leave me here," I grumbled. Whatever. I sped back to my apartment and opened the door. I was greeted by a scream in the movie Holly and Emma were watching. I turned on the lights, earning an ear piercing scream from the girls. I cringed and covered my ears. "Ow!" I exclaimed. They both gave me sheepish smiles.

"Sorry," they chorused. "So how was the dinner?" Holly asked as she paused the TV.

"A disaster. Ray bought out the whole restaurant for the night." They both raised an eyebrow. "Yeah. I know. And then Iris and Eddie started arguing. I was at Joe's with Barry to watch a movie except he just ran out of the house. It's probably work." Emma looked down at her phone.

"My mom's here. Sorry," she apologized. "I have to go. Thanks for having me over." I smiled at her and waved as she walked out. Right when the door shut Holly stood up.

"We have to talk." I raised an eyebrow. She walked into my room and came out holding a duffel bag that was unzipped. She dropped it on the floor. My eyes widened when I realized what duffel bag that was.

"Why were you in my room?" I demanded. She had her hands on her hips as I snatched the bag and placed it back in my closet.

"Doesn't matter. When were you going to tell me that you're the Violet Flash?" I stayed silent. "You weren't going to tell me were you?" She scoffed.

"Holly, you have to understand how dangerous my job is. If anyone found out my identity then they could target you."

"Who knows?"

"Holly-"

"Who knows?" she asked sternly. I sighed.

"Just the team, Joe, and Eddie."

"And Barry?" I let my gaze fall to the ground. "He's The Flash. Of course he is. It's the whole reason you're dating him." I glared at her.

"You and I both know that that isn't why I'm dating him. I'm dating him because I do like him," I argued. I shook my head. "I don't have to explain myself to you. Stay out of my room, will you? You're lucky I even took you in. It was Barry that convinced me," I snapped before walking back into my room and closing the door. I dialed Barry's number and paced the room. After three calls and him not answering I threw the phone on the bed and clutched my hair. I eyed the suit in the duffel bag. I replayed out whole conversation and realized what I had said. I ran out of my room and swung open Holly's door.

"Go away," she told me.

"Holly, I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said. I was just so mad that you went snooping around my room and-"

"How could you keep something like this from me?" she screamed. "I trusted you with my whole life!"

"I would never hurt you. You have to understand that it was just a safety precaution. I wasn't allowed to tell you. Trust me, if I could've I would have told you. I really wanted to."

"Where'd you go earlier tonight?" she asked.

"I actually did go on a triple date with Felicity, Ray, Iris, Eddie, and Barry. Ray bought out the whole restaurant for the night. You can even ask Iris."

"Does she know?" I shook my head. "But Joe knows and Eddie knows and Barry's the fucking Flash. It all makes sense now. Here I thought you were out with Barry every night screwing him." I raised an eyebrow. "And you were with him, except you were working with him and only God knows who else to catch these metahumans. No wonder why the Reverse Flash was in the apartment that night. He hates you." I shook my head.

"The Reverse Flash...he's complicated. Holly, just tell me how I can gain back your trust," I begged.

"Take me to meet the team." My eyes widened.

"I don't see how-"

"Take me to meet them. I want to see who you work with every night." I sighed before grabbing onto her arm and speeding her to STAR Labs.

"Hey, Clari-what the hell are you doing?" Cisco shrieked. I rolled my eyes and shoved Holly forward.

"Clear the room," I ordered. They all nodded and left the room. Holly stared at me in disbelief. "This is where I spend my free time. This is where I work to save lives. Remember when you and Blake were in that car outside of the gas station and The Flash and Violet Flash showed up? I saved your asses! I went against all of my morals because I was so fucking scared he would harm you! I almost killed a man because he could have hurt you!" Her eyes widened. "I do all of this to keep you safe! To make sure you live in a safe city! Starling City has its own set of vigilantes that help keep it safe for the same reason! They have family there! We are not that enemies here, Holly." I saw Barry speed in out of the corner of my eye.

"What is going on?" Barry asked as he walked over to us.

"Holly went through my stuff and found my other suit." His eyes widened. "So now she knows what I do every night."

"Clarity, I'm sorry-"

"Save it, Holly. I just need quiet. I need to think about everything going on. I'm so overwhelmed with work, with this, with you finding out, with Will-"

"Will? What about Will?" she questioned. I sighed.

"Will is alive. I got a call today that he woke up from a coma." Barry placed a hand on my shoulder. "I need to go. Barry, please take her home," I said before speeding out of STAR Labs. When I stopped running I was at the waterfront. It wasn't far from STAR Labs so it didn't take me longer than thirty seconds for me to get there. I sat down on the rocks and pulled my knees up to my chest, just staring out at the calm water. It was quiet out for a Friday night, not many cars nearby. The only sound was the water, the wind, and my thoughts. I sat there thinking through everything since my life turned upside down. It was all from some stupid lightning bolt.
