Song: Taylor Swift- Shake it off

Naturally, mum grilled me about Kyle once he was gone and I had to re-tell the whole sordid tale. She said she understood my reservations when it came to him but advised me to give it another shot with him if I really did have feelings for him. She left an hour later to see if she could get me some of my stuff from my apartment.

Bored out of my mind alone in my room, I opened the Youtube app on my phone which I practically never used. A bunch of videos were listed under the Trending category and I clicked on the first one; Shake it off by Taylor Swift. I vaguely remembered Kyle mentioning her when he gave me the questionnaire to determine what kind of music would suit me. The memory made me smile. We hadn't gotten around to sharing our test results from both of our questionnaires and I was really curious what he'd written down about me.

I listened to Shake it off five times in a row. The lyrics of the chorus kind of reminded me of Craig especially the line on players and I liked what the song said about dealing with people like him.

I had no clue how to download the song so I texted Laura hoping she'd help. She offered to come by later and show me and told me to write down all the songs I wanted.

When I finally got tired of listening to the one song, I scrolled down the list of other Taylor Swift songs on the side and played through each of them. By the time I was done with my list I had about a hundred songs and most of them were Taylor Swift's and One Direction. While I was hunting for more songs to add to my already extensive list, mum came back with a bell hop carrying two suitcases

"Did you go overboard on shopping again?" I asked mum as the bell hop set the suitcases down in my room.

"I'll have you know I've been cured of my shopaholic-ness," she gloated. "This is your stuff from your apartment."

"You managed to get all that out!" I exclaimed happily. If my ankle wasn't sprained I would have flown over to my bags to see what was inside.

"Kyle was a big help," she replied rolling them over to me. She must have seen my eagerness to see what was inside.

"You're on a first name basis with him already?" I quirked an eyebrow at her.

"Of course," she batted her eyelids at me and I rolled my eyes at her and opened the zip on the first suitcase. Mum had managed to pick out a few of my favorite casual and formal clothes but some of the outfits in there were things I had stuffed in the back of my closet and vowed never to wear again. The second suitcase had a bunch of my books, the purse I usually carried to work and my laptop on one side.

"You packed my books I love you!"

"I wish I could take credit for that but Kyle was responsible for the second suitcase," mum said as I dug through the rest of the suitcase and found the pretty little liars disc and the two music mix discs that Kyle had made for me.

"What?"

"Like I said he was a lot of help. I had to have a police escort to get stuff from your apartment and they had to check it for Michael's prints before I took it in case it was evidence so Kyle came with me and while I was picking out your clothes he mentioned that you might like a couple of books as well," mum said.

"And the discs?" I asked.

"Oh I saw him looking at those and something about the way he was smiling when he was holding them told me they were special so I grabbed them and packed them."

I wondered what was going through Kyle's mind to make him smile when he was looking at the discs. The time we danced in the park? The first time we kissed and made out in my bed?

"So I was right. You have the exact same smile on your face," mum said with a knowing smile. My face turned bright red from embarrassment.

"Thank you mum," I said diverting the conversation

"It's my pleasure. They said they'll be done with your apartment in a couple more days so you can move back soon. That's if you want to," she told me.

I nodded but didn't respond. I had thought of that and I wasn't so sure I wanted to even see the place again but it had been my home for so long after I moved out from my parent's home before everything fell apart between them. They had long since sold their house since mum moved to another state and dad was practically a nomad.

"You don't have to decide until you're ready. You can stay in the hotel for as long as you like," mum said.

I smiled appreciatively at her "Thanks mum, for everything. I love you."

She looked surprised at my words and tears filled her eyes.

"Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.

"Yes, yes I'm fine. It's just that you haven't said those words to me for so long and I never thought I'd hear them again," she explained.

"Oh mum," I said feeling the guilt of hating her again. She pulled me into her arms and hugged me and we both cried tears of joy over our lost love that was once again found.

Mum left after packing my stuff away and putting all the things I wanted close to me within reach so that I wouldn't have to move around too much. Laura came and showed me how to download a couple of songs and once I got the hang of it, she left to get ready for her dinner date with Tyler. I downloaded my whole list of songs straight to my phone then decided to try watching something. I took the PLL disc and loaded it into my laptop then skipped to the last episode I had watched with Kyle for a re-cap. When I got to the next episode, I couldn't concentrate on what was happening and eventually I gave up and powered off my laptop. I plugged in my earphones and settled back on my bed to listen to my new music.

The first song I listened to was Hiding my heart by Adele. It kind of reminded me of Kyle. An idea hit me and I tapped away busily at my phone, listening to all my new songs. By the time I was done it was 6.30 p.m. I searched my purse for a bunch of papers that I had kept in there since my first formal meeting with Kyle and opened it up. Smiling, I called Kyle and the phone rang twice before he picked up.

"Hie."

"Hie Kyle," I said, lying back on my bed with the papers resting on my chest and staring up at the ceiling.

"I'm glad you called. I wanted to check on you but I wasn't sure if I'm allowed to call you," he said. I smiled and twirled a strand of hair on my finger.

"It's okay to call me, I promise I won't bite."

"That's good to know," he laughed. "So how's your ankle?"

"I'm not running any marathons but it's much better," I replied raising the injured leg as far as I could and turning it slightly.

"You'll be up and about in no time then," Kyle said encouragingly.

"Yeah." I paused for a moment. "Thanks for helping my mum out with getting my stuff."

"Don't mention it. I was happy to help. Speaking of which, we'll officially be done with the apartment tomorrow."

"Did you find anything?" I dreaded the answer but I had to know.

"Yeah I can't tell you everything just yet but I'll explain it all as soon as it's okay to do so."

A cold fist clenched around my heart and I struggled to breathe for a moment. They had found evidence of Michael's presence in my apartment. When had he been there? Had he watched me sleep? Or undress? Or shower? I felt like I would throw up.

"Em?" I had disappeared into my head and forgotten I was on the phone.

"Yeah, sorry. I spaced out," I said shaking my head. "Got anything planned for the evening?"

"Nothing I can't postpone," he replied.

"No need to postpone, I just need like half an hour of your time. I need to cash in on a deal we made," I said lifting the papers to my face again.

"Which of those deals would that be?"

"The one where we trade what we wrote about each other when I was trying to profile you for a house and you were profiling me for a music genre," I laughed at the memory. "It'll sort of be like starting over."

"Oh that deal! Okay I'll drop by at 7, if that's okay with you?"

"Great! See you at 7." I hung up and tucked Kyle's profile sheet under my pillow then lay back for a nap.

I awoke to a knock on the door and called for the person to come in. Kyle walked in carrying a paper bag and I could guess what was in it before the scent wafting from it reached my nostrils. He gave me a wide smile as he handed me the bag.

"Surprise," he said.

"Thank you." I smiled back at him and opened the box in the bag and sure enough there were french fries inside. Kyle sat on a corner of the bed and watched in amusement while I happily devoured the fries.

"You brought the goods?" I asked him.

Kyle laughed. "You make it sound like we're making a drug trade." He took out a folded piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to me. I fished my paper from under the pillow and handed it to him. He started to open it but I snatched it out of his hand.

"Read it when you're alone," I said.

"Why?" he narrowed his eyes at me. "Is there something in there I won't like?"

"You'll just have to find out," I smirked and handed it back to him. He put it in his pocket and nodded.

Kyle's phone rang and he left the room to answer it.

"I'm sorry, I have to go back to work. Something came up," he said, giving me an apologetic look.

"It's okay. I should probably get some rest anyway."

He hesitated by the door. "Is it okay if I call you later?"

I gave him a reassuring smile and nodded. He bid me goodbye again and left. I eagerly opened up the paper he had given me and settled back to read through the profiling. I vaguely remembered our conversation from the night he'd asked me the questions but from what I could see he'd written everything I had said, exactly how I had said it and the whole thing was structured like my work profiling sheet.
