Chapter Seventeen - Evil Incarnate
As Owl Squadron held the line, Luz and Amity began navigating through the narrow corridors of Bobhan Castle in search for Belos and Hunter. They encountered little to no resistance as they closed in at the throne room. Luz and Amity stood by the doors to the throne room.
Luz: Belos has to be there.
Amity: Whatever happens, I got your back, Luz.
Luz: Right back at you, Ami.
With that, the two Hellsing agents kicked down the doors leading to the throne room. When they began converging on the throne room, Belos was seen sitting on the throne. Hunter was standing beside him. The ancient Vampire chuckled as he cast his gaze upon the Hellsing Agents.
Belos: "I met a traveler from an antique land, who said—"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert....near them, on the sand, half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, and wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, tell that its sculptor well those passions read which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, the hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; and on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away." Heh. When I first set foot in Britain, never in my wildest dreams that a land of barbarians would ever be capable of creating such...beautiful culture. Immortality has a way of surprising you.
Luz: It's over, Belos.
Belos: In the grand scheme of things, you and your Hellsing Organization are...inconsequential. The only true power that Hellsing had at it's disposal was HIM. The Lord of Vampires. The No Life King. With him gone, Hellsing is nothing but a shell of what it once was. Even with Alucard's progeny, Hellsing is now experiencing the decay that the mighty Roman Empire felt before it's fall. It is an old beast out of it's prime and slowly withering away.
Luz: Are you going to bore me to death or are you going to fight?
Belos laughed at Luz's spirit as the two Hellsing agents kept their weapons trained on Belos and Hunter.
Belos: I like your spirit. Such fire. It is something I have not seen for many centuries. But as I said before, in the grand scheme of things, you are inconsequential. Nothing more than a nuisance.
Amity: You say that, yet we're still alive.
Belos: A matter of luck. You two were unwise coming here to face me alone. If you brought your entire squad, you might've had a chance. If you brought Alucard's progeny, you might've had a chance. If you brought all of the Hellsing Organization, you might've had a chance. But instead, you two came to me.
Luz: We're not gonna miss the opportunity of sending your undead ass to Hell!
Belos: I'd be lying if I said that you two didn't pique my curiosity. Now you have my full undivided attention. Though there is one thing I must ask. What became of Helena? Did she linger on after I put my fist through her chest, or did she die before you could find her?
At that moment, Luz and Amity were gripped with anger as Belos seemed to mock Helena's death. While Helena was a Vampire, she was a decent individual who only sought to be left alone.
Amity: She...she hung on for a brief time, but she succumbed to her wounds.
Belos: And what were her last words?
Luz: We're not giving you the satisfaction, you son of a bitch! We're putting you in the ground! Now!
Belos laughed at the continued defiance Luz and Amity displayed. Despite this, he couldn';t be bothered to get up from the throne.
Belos: Hunter? Kill them.
Hunter looked upon Luz and Amity, unsure if he could do it. Luz and Amity could see the uncertainty in Hunter's eyes.
Luz: You don't have to follow him. You can help us end this madness!
Belos: Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once. You have served me well ever since I gave you life from death. We are close to a new era, Hunter. Do not falter now.
As Belos said this, Hunter found himself conflicted. While he didn't want to fight Luz and Amity, he felt obligated to remain loyal to Belos. Hunter takes a deep breath as he turns to face, Luz and Amity.
Hunter: I'm...I'm sorry.
With that, Hunter chose to fight Luz and Amity. In the throne room of Bobhan Castle, Luz and Amity would battle against Hunter while Belos watched from the throne. Belos watched with a wicked smile.
Belos: All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely Players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts, His Acts being seven ages. At first, the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms. Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel And shining morning face, creeping like snail Unwillingly to school. And then the lover, Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard, Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel, Seeking the bubble reputation Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice, In fair round belly with good capon lined, With eyes severe and beard of formal cut, Full of wise saws and modern instances; And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slippered pantaloon, With spectacles on nose and pouch on side; His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice, Turning again toward childish treble, pipes And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion, Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything. All the world's a stage. Alea iacta est.
In that moment, Luz and Amity was face to face with evil incarnate. The final battle to decide the fate of England was at hand.
