Lee
That's when I saw her, for the first time. Laying in the grass with her assumed friend pulling dandelions off of the stem and throwing them. The sun shined out from behind her porcelain face. Watching from a distance my abilities were out of control, strength that of a man, and that's when the soccer ball got launched in her direction nothing that could be done to stop it. The ground was more comfortable to stare at than her, because my strength just caused a bloody nose, and the guilty one, me.
as my feet moved quickly through the grass staining my white socks a red blotchy stain was appearing on her face, it spread out like a cherry blossom in the spring. Did I break her nose?
My voice echoed across the field, "Are you okay," as I continued ruffling through the field breathing heavily. When I finally looked up at her and tears streamed down her face, I felt something in me, change. That was when I was hooked to her and I knew that we were destined to be.
The girl looked me dead in the eye. "She's not okay, can't you see, I'm pretty sure you broke her nose." She took off her layered top and gave it to her friend to cover her nose.
"Marissa, it's okay. I'm sure he didn't mean it." She touched her friend in a way that was meant to calm her repetitively petting upper arm.
"I'm really sorry," but the words of what I was saying wasn't enough to apologize for the pain I had caused.
"It's okay." The girl moved the scrunched up shirt aside to introduce herself "I'm Kylie."
"I'm Lee." I reached my hand out to greet her, but then my coach had called out for me, his voice irritated but also concerned for the girl whose nose looked a little crooked.
