A few hours later, Bev and Ivy are sat in the Okonma's room discussing things.
After the whole Mike incident, they decided to let the boys and him have some "bonding" time. Or whatever.
"Are you going to the Summer fest dance?" Ivy asks. Bev shrugs a little, leaning back on the comfortable bed. "Uh...yeah, I probably will. Not with a date though. Just on my own. What about you?"
"I'm going with Eddie."
Bev snorts.
"I thought you liked Richie?"
Ivy sighs loudly and falls back into her mattress dramatically. "I do. But last night, he told me he was planning to—"
"Last night?" Bev throws a devious grin in the frail girl's direction.
Ivy blushes deeply. "Oh– uh– I meant– pffft, did I say last night? – I-I meant, the other day, when it was day time and other people were around and the sun was out—"
"Okay, well you used the word 'day' like five times so– spill."
"Its no big deal– he slept over last night– ITS NO BIG DEAL."
Bev gasps.
"That is so a big deal!"
"Whatever, point is, he told me he's gonna talk to Janice as much as possible at the summer fest. So it doesn't even matter if I go with Eddie," Ivy huffs.
Bev frowns a little, tapping her chin in thought. "Well, what're you gonna wear?"
Ivy blinks.
She never really thought about it. Probably just some old, dull, dress.
"Errr...probably that." She respond, pointing to a random dress laid on her dresser. Bev basically gags, shaking her head in disapproval.
"No no no no. Absolutely not." She states, standing up and waving her hands. "You are not wearing that."
Ivy raises her eyebrow.
"Well, what do I wear then?"
Bev hums in thought, rummaging through her friend's closet. Nothing catches her eye.
"Do you fit in you mom's clothes?"
"Yeah, but—"
"Take me to her closet."
Ivy opens her mouth to argue, but can't think of a retaliation. Groaning, she leads the red-headed girl down the hall to her parents room. Novocane follows closely behind.
"You're lucky my parents aren't here, they'd kill me if they knew I was in here."
Bev ignores her statement, going through the much larger closet. One dress in particular catches her eyes, and she can't help but let out a gasp at the sight. If a question mark was an expression, that's what Ivy looks like right now.
It's perfect.
Bev smiles to herself. The dress is simple, yet beautiful.
Quickly, she reaches out and takes the hanger. She then holds it out for Ivy to see. Ivy smiles a little, but looks away doubtfully.
"Jeez, I don't know, Bev. I don't think I even have the boobs to fill that out."
"You do, trust me." She snorts. "Your boobs are the least of my concerns. Have you seen those things? Their like melons—"
"Okay! I get it!" Ivy interrupts with a blush, taking the dress and rushing back to the room.
Bev follows laughing. "So, you'll wear it?" She inquires with hope laced in her words.
"Yeah," Ivy nods, setting the dress aside safely.
She could not let her dad see her leave in that though. He would never allow it.
"Can I sleepover? That way we can get ready together tomorrow. Then, we can show up to the festival together!....and Eddie I guess."
Ivy laughs.
"Yeah sure."
"You think Eddie likes you?" Bev asks suddenly, genuinely curious.
Ivy immediately shakes her head. "No. He's my best friend. Sincerely, he and I don't see each other like that."
"Good."
Ivy raises a brow.
"Why? Do you like him?"
"Oh no!" The red head shouts, waving her hands. "No, it's just– Richie...he definitely likes you, and it'd hurt him a lot if you dated his best friend."
Ivy rolls her eyes. "He doesn't like me, Bev."
Novocane barks, causing Ivy to groan.
"He doesn't!"
Both Novocane and Bev stare at Ivy with a knowing look. She shakes her head in response.
"If he liked me, he wouldn't be going after– after that bitch. Janice Baylor."
