Writing Tip #29: Try not to dump too many characters on the audience all at once. A common mistake I see in K-pop fanfics especially is introducing every member of the K-pop group + ocs + managers + other K-pop idols in close proximity. While this isn't inherently a bad thing to introduce a lot of characters, it can get very confusing very quickly. Even Shakespeare is heavily criticized for how many characters he has, and he's the great. And, similarly, be cautious of how you're introducing your character. The first line and action your character does sets the tone for the character. There's this thing called an "anchor point" in writing, where there's a certain event that will anchor the character to the audience. For example, in the show/game The Last of Us, Joel risking his life to save his daughter, Sarah, is the anchor point the audience will think of when they think of their first impression of Joel. Try to make sure your character introduction shows the personality you want to show, as that could be the anchor for your audience.

Writing Challenge #29: Freeze Write!

For this challenge, choose three environments, but make each one vastly different. So, for example, maybe a beach, the surface of Pluto, and a fantastical kingdom. Make them as different as possible.

After choosing three, now pretend time has stopped in these places. Time is frozen. Nothing is moving, even the natural animals there.

Now, describe the frozen environments, and describe them in excruciating detail. Be as descriptive as possible to the point where it's obnoxious.

The purpose of this exercise is to practice synonyms and descriptions and give you a wider vocabulary when describing environments. These descriptions can be as long or short as you want as long as they have specific details, and make sure to have three descriptions total.
