DAY 17

Writing Tip #17: Remember you have the entire story to give exposition. Don't dump every piece of info about your story in the first few chapters. Spread it out throughout the story and try to only give the readers information they need to know at first, and then progressively add more as the story continues. When readers first pick up your book, they want to know the immediate stakes and characters rather than get walls of text of exposition, so remember to pace yourself as well as the story.

Daily Vocab Word: Enthuse - (verb) To show excitement or passion about something. I.e., "He enthused over the new art exhibit."

Writing Challenge Improvement Area: Worldbuilding

Writing Challenge #17: Ready, Set, Worldbuild!

This challenge is an immediate challenge you can do from anywhere at any time. Where are you sitting right now? Or standing, or laying, or whatever you're doing currently. Take that environment and make a world out of it.

By that I mean, if you're in your bedroom, pretend you're writing a story solely based in your bedroom. What would that kind of world look like for the story? How would you write a story based on just one area? How could the environment impact said story?

This is a pretty open-ended challenge that requires you to use just your immediate surroundings to craft a unique environment and world. For the writing portion of this, write down ways you can make a story based on your world around you.

Mark here when the challenge is completed --->

Happy writing!
