*The Next Day*
"Hey Bakubro, what do you think they'll serve today for lunch?" Kirishima asked, a curious look passing over his face as half of him hung over the edge of the bed.
Shrugging and shooting an accusatory look at the redhead, Katsuki got up from his spot on the floor and went up to the door, setting his hands lightly against it.
"It should open any second no-" he started to say, bring interrupted by the sound of the blaring alarm letting nearby guards that the cells were opening.
Backing off, Katsuki watched as the metal door slowly opened magnetically, the sound of his rumbling stomach infecting his mind.
'Damn, I'm starving,' he thought as he strolled out of the compact space once the door fully opened.
Being followed closely by Kirishima, Katsuki walked straight to the staircase to the right and quickly walked down the steps; pointing to the table that sat at the day before while he walked past it.
Expertly perusing through the bottom level and arriving to the counter where they served the food, Katsuki nodded at the guy behind it and grabbed two trays; quickly speeding through the whole food process so he could get back to his crush.
Setting both trays down and looking around suspiciously, Katsuki sat down and leaned forward with a passive look settling on his face for once.
"Did you find anything else out yet during breakfast, Kiri?" he not-so-subtly whisper shouted to the other teen.
Eijirou simply shook his head as he played around with his mac and deeply thought about their options.
Huffing, Katsuki leaned back and did the same, looking up to check if anyone was watching every once in awhile.
Katsuki leaned forward again, but this time with more excitement and shaky hands.
"What if, based on what happened yesterday, we could go around the same time the doors opened tonight?" Tapping his fingers against the holy-table and leaving back a bit, Katsuki impatiently waited for Kirishima's response as he continued to brainstorm.
Scrunching his eyebrows together and really thinking hard, Eijirou folded his hands and set his chin on said intertwined digits.
"Okay, we could, but how would we know that would happen again? They could have just done that to get Deku," he countered.
Shaking his head, Katsuki threw back,
"But didn't you hear stuff? Like, I only barely just woke up when the door closed, but didn't you hear other doors opening? Maybe it's a collective thing all over the prison where in the middle of the night, all cell doors open!"
Allowing confusion to twist his face, Kirishima leaned forward as well.
"What...b-but that doesn't make any sense! Why would they open the doors at midnight? Doesn't that imply chaos, or literally everyone just leaving when it happens?! That has no logical sen-" Pausing, Eijirou un-interlaced his fingers as a certain revelation hit him.
Holding his hands up as a reassurance, Eijirou said,
"Okay, okay, hear me out. What if...it was never supposed to make logical sense? Like, what if...what if they open the doors at that time...on purpose?" Katsuki's eyes widened as the gears in his head started to turn in the right directions and clicked in the correct spots.
"Holy shit, Shitty hair, that-that...hm," Katsuki covered his mouth in thought while he tried to conclude his statement.
"That does sound plausible, but...like, why? Yes, we're going somewhere with that fucking theory, but...why the fuck would they want to open the doors on purpose? Couldn't they just open our cell, grab Deku, and leave every other cell untouched?"
Nodding his head, Eijirou was suddenly very, very lost about their situation, and silently wished that all of it could be at least a little easier.
Kirishima sighed and ran a hand through his spiky, scarlet hair and actually took the first bite of his food since their break started.
"Let's talk more about this in the cell, okay? People might get suspicious, and maybe going back in the cell'll help with our, uh...big-brain-ing," Eijirou murmured, quickly eating the east of his mac and salad and offering his mash to Katsuki.
Accepting the offer, Katsuki slid his tray over to Kirishima's and didn't stop his thorough consideration of things.
Several hours had passed, and the boys were in their cell, readily waiting for the door to open.
"Are you sure we've gone over everything? Considered everything? Maybe we should talk about it again-" Kirishima nervously inquired rapidly.
Katsuki rolled his eyes and grasped Eijirou's hand without thought.
"Our plan is very half-assed, and we don't even know where to look for Deku, yeah, but we've got this. We're gonna fucking find him, and hopefully some information about this whole situation," he assured of the redhead, embarrassingly looking down after he stopped talking and letting go quickly.
Eijirou nodded hesitantly at this, and looked back at the huge metal door anxiously while trying not to think about Katsuki's hand in his.
"I don't know, Bakubro...it just seems too ea-" Kirishima cut himself off mid-sentence as their cell door slammed open, and they were free to leave the cell without any guards on duty.
Shifting back and forth on both feet, Kirishima slowly took a step forward and quickly looked both ways, spotting a few people down both sides and on the base level leaving their cells as well.
"Okay, which way, Bakubro?"
*Minutes later*
The boys had decided to go to the upper floors, since the bottom-most floor is just tables, the outside courts for tennis and just hanging out, and the serving counters. It wasn't very big either.
Separating so they could comb through both sides of the building without slowing down, the boys searched their floor and the third floor, unfortunately finding nothing.
Regrouping for only a moment, the teens split up again so they could look on the fourth level, peeking the open doors and looking in every corner.
Once they had reached the very end of the level, Katsuki and Eijirou met up again, at a loss with what to do next.
"Where the hell are they keeping him?! I've been trying to fucking keep it together until we found him, but this... fuck!" Pulling his hair and keeping his breathing under control, Katsuki frantically looked around, holding maybe they slipped up somewhere.
Kirishima grabbed both of Katsuki's wrists and gently pulled them out of his hair, and was going to try and hype him up like Katsuki did him, but then they heard it.
A loud, and pain-filled scream.
There eyes bulging out of their sockets, both males went into a frenzy and tried to follow the screams to where they could be coming from.
The screams wouldn't stop, and what the boys didn't notice, was that no other prisoners, or civilians, were jostled by the screams.
Not a single one of them.
Being led straight back to their cell, which was the only one that had a closed door, the two boys were extremely confused.
The screaming was the most prominent behind the door, and it was clearer who it belonged to.
Katsuki banged against the door, and surprisingly, pulled it right open. Kirishima was completely scared out of his mind, but all of that fear washed away as soon as he saw what was behind the door.
Izuku was sitting in a elevated chair and had some sort of metal helmet on top of his head, that being hooked up to a bigger machine behind him, a guy with messy, purple hair dressed in a long, white lab coat was writing something down on a huge whiteboard.
None of that stuff was there before. In fact, even their beds were gone, and instead replaced with random pieces of junk and gadgets.
It was almost as if the three boys never lived in a cell, but rather in a lab controlled by a tried looking teen their age.
Stopping his writing and taking his sweet time turning off the machine making Izuku scream, the boy turned to the two teens at the doorway, where they were stunned silent.
"Ah, you two are here. And right when we were just about to make a breakthrough. Fuck my life," the male said, barely having turned around to turn the machine back on, when he was tackled by Katsuki.
Pinning him down and only just avoiding the kicks and punches the exhausted teen was throwing, Katsuki yelled at Kirishima,
"Get Deku out of here!" Katsuki was then abruptly thrown off of the other male and slid across the floor.
Grabbing Kirishima's shins just before he was able to get to Izuku, the purple-haired boy pulled and made Eijirou topple.
Having no idea what was happening, Izuku was barely even conscious enough to see what was shelling.
'M-my cell mates...' he slowly pieced together, realizing a second later that they were there to...to save him.
Eyes widening, Izuku sloppily grabbed into the helmet that was resting atop his head, and threw it off, some wires that were attached to it flying off as he did so.
"No no!" the tired teen shouted as both Kirishima and Katsuki pounced on him, him being strong enough to keep them both preoccupied.
As Izuku's instincts took over since his brain was short-circuiting from the experiments, he launched himself out of his chair and scrambled onto his feet, only stopping in the entrance way to look back at his struggling friends.
"Go! We'll hold-" Katsuki commander Izuku, only to be silenced by the purple-headed teen, who hit one of his pressure points near his neck and temporarily put him to sleep.
Pulling the tired boy back down with him, Kirishima modded and Izuku ran.
Ran as hard as he could down the left side of their level, and randomly hiding inside one of them without even looking, Izuku couldn't do anything but listen to his gut.
Which gave very broad orders, like run and hide, and they weren't even proper commands that had any thought out plans behind them.
The door wasn't closed, and Izuku at least knew in the moment that if he did close it, he surely would've been found.
So he just curled up in a ball in the right corner of the cell closest to the door, and waited with a racing heart and heavy breathing.
Once no one passed by his cell, Izuku slowly uncurled himself from his position and peeled outside of his doorway, ready to go back to his cell and help his friends out, when his gut started to contradict itself.
'Go and help friends, stay and turn around,' is what it said.
Izuku wanted to pick number one, but his guy wouldn't let him. His entire being suddenly wouldn't let him.
'Stop.' But he couldn't.
Turning around and gasping at what he saw, Izuku momentarily forgot about Bakugo and Kirishima, and instead focused on the huge rectangle metal doorway that seemingly led nowhere in the middle of the not-so-tiny cell.
Creeping towards it, inch by inch, Izuku just completely forgot anything and everything but the huge, metal...thing before him.
Izuku was hesitant to at first to get any close to it once he was a few feet from it, but every single fiber in him urged his to continue forward, so he did.
Reaching out, and yet shrinking back every few seconds, Izuku was now only centimeters from the doorway, and he still didn't know why he wanted to touch it so badly or why it was even there.
He was sure there was no way that this could have been there since day one, but he didn't question it much further, as the tips of his drinkers finally brushed against the metal.
As soon as he made contact with it, the doorway made a ear drum-shattering noise and entire doorway opened up into a swirling portal.
Jumping back and looking at his hands in shock, Izuku didn't even have the chance to breathe before he could feel himself being pulled towards the portal.
'No! Shit, no-' Izuku fell on his ass and tried to slow his being pulled fruitlessly.
'SHIT-!' Just as he started to scream in his head, the magnetation of the doorway heightened and Izuku was thrown into the portal without a second thought.
Running past the cell, and then backing up almost immediately, the purple-haired teen from before limped into the cell, and was only able to see the portal a second before it closed.
"Wait! Fuck!" he shouted as he ran sprinted to the doorway too late.
Banging his fists against the portal and not even letting the situation sink in, the boy turned away from the portal and ran right back to Izuku and company's cell, where Kirishima and Bakugo were both out cold.
The teen reached his whiteboard and quickly sifted through papers, some of them fluttering onto the ground as well his contract with who he was working for.
'....Project E2 with Hitoshi Shinso, or codename Insomniac, as the lead scientist and researcher and Nemuri Kayama, or code name Midnight, as the head of the entire project....' some of it read.
Reading over his past writings and what he had theorized only hours before, Shinso was quickly able to put all of the puzzle pieces together and realize what the whole puzzle was.
Shinso let the marker he was scrawling across the board with, slip from his hands and onto the ground as he whispered,
"So you're The One.....Izuku Midoriya."
