Chapter 5: Exiled

Ruby woke up with a start as the loud banging noises of metal pulled her from her sleep. She opened her swollen puffy eyes and recognized the wyvern enclosing her in his body. She held her head because of a slight throbbing headache while the memories of last night's events replayed in her mind renewing the feeling of despondency she so wanted to forget.

She sighed. Somehow she missed waking up in Dyrroth's warm embrace that protects her from the freezing cold. Also, she missed his natural manly scent that greets her every time she wakes up pressed to his chest. She pushed away her thoughts as it only frustrated her more.

Skywynne also stirred beside her, aware of the other creatures in the stables and removed his wing over her head to get a look at what is happening around them. Ruby saw a number of demons preparing the other wyverns for battle. Putting saddles and armors and sharpening their teeth and claws are just some of the scenes playing around them. Almost all of the wyverns are being groomed except for Skywynne which probably means that the demons are told that it's her property given by Dyrroth.

Her body suddenly tensed up when she noticed a large muscular demon pass by the cage and eye her nonchalantly with a small amount of curiosity before completely ignoring her and walking away. She sighed in relief. So her demotion from concubine to exile is not yet announced giving her a bit of time to travel around the Abyss unbothered even without Sorca.

Once they find out that she's no longer under Dyrroth's protection, who knows what sort of horrible things these demons are going to do with her, therefore she's back to where she started. She needs to find a way to escape and she has to do it fast. Obviously, these demons are preparing to launch an attack so she needs to get out of here as soon as possible to warn the empire. Without her distracting Dyrroth, he'll be more focused on his tasks that he will delegate all his time on planning their demise rather than planning a date with her.

She stood up from the ground alerting Skywynne before touching the wyvern's forehead and stroking his scales.

"I'm not sure if we're going to see each other again but I want you to know that I love you greatly because he gave you to me and you showed me affection. I have to leave now but know that I will miss you." Ruby said as she placed a parting kiss over the dragon's nose. Skywynne puffed out smoke sadly before rubbing his face on her legs as a parting gesture. She slipped through the gap in his cage and carefully thread the stables where many demons are working.

"How is my legion doing? Have they been supplied with new weapons? And the riders of these wyverns, are they properly trained to deal with these beasts?" She was stopped in her steps due to this sudden voice. It felt like ice cubes were running down her back as she heard a familiar voice ask authoritatively.

"Yes my lord, every single demon has been given a new set of weapons and armors while there are still a few things our riders need to learn but by the end of the week I can guarantee that they will be able to control these beasts with ease."

No, no, no. Of all the time and places they could meet why here? Why now? Cold sweat ran down her body as she nervously listened to his approaching footsteps and dominating voice. His mere presence is so imposing she can feel the hair on her arms raise in alarm.

"Good. Next will be for today's raid. Have the riders practice by attacking a village far north. One specifically in the Dark Forest. Burn it down and take everything they have and leave no one alive." This command made the very blood flowing in her veins run cold with sorrow and despondency. She felt so betrayed by Dyrroth... but why? It was too late for her to take reign on her emotion and she unexpectedly yelled at him.

"You can't do that!!" she exclaimed capturing the attention of the demon and his minions whose astounded piercing gaze bore into her small body.

For a moment there was a flash of shock that crossed Dyrroth's ruby red eyes but it vanished as quickly as it came and was replaced by cold nonchalance which somehow... felt painful for her to see, how his once warm loving gaze turned to frigid apathy. It kind of hurt her heart with a familiar feeling of rejection and abandonment. Dyrroth faced her as if she was a stranger before speaking.

"And who are you to tell me what to do?"

"I-..." her throat was dry and no word wished to come out of her mouth as her fingers trembled. She mentally slapped herself and mustered her courage to talk back to him like she always does. She took a deep breath before glaring at him. She paused a few meters away from him and stood her ground as she stared menacingly back at him.

"I'm Humanity's Defender and I will stand here and lay down my life to do whatever it takes to stop your evil plans. Even if I have to kill you." she uttered the last part in a low threatening voice as a crimson light emits from her hand. Her scythe instantly appeared out of thin air in front of her and she grabbed the handle preparing a battle stance.

Dyrroth doesn't seem the least bit fazed nor alarmed or amused, in fact, he looked kind of... pissed. The demons around them were unsure of what to do. Should they point their weapons at their master's paramour or should they stand down and let them clash? They were very unsure if it's merely a lovers' quarrel or something else so they just stood there and watched.

"Naive." Dyrroth whispered and suddenly he was in front of her while holding her throat but not chocking her.

"You want to be a hero when in truth you're nothing but a weak girl. You can't protect anyone from me, not even yourself. What will you do if I really kill all your precious humans in your little village? Will you be... mad at me?" There was a sinister teasing edge to his tone as he whispered these torturous words in her ears. Ruby only glared at him before answering.

"If you do that... I will spite you for the rest of my existence in this life and the next. The sun will never rise and the moon will never shine that I won't curse you for the rest of forever." she replied spitefully earning a glare from the demon.

"Then you can hate me for the rest of eternity." Dyrroth suddenly threw her roughly to the ground before turning to his minions.

"Take this girl and throw her out of the palace. After that..." Dyrroth directed her a spiteful side glance that stabbed a painful dagger to her heart before proceeding. "Cancel your mission in the Dark Forest. We're invading the dragon realms. I realized that I shouldn't be wasting my time minding a runt. That will be all and get her out of my sight immediately." Two demons went behind Ruby to escort her out but she refused to be touched by them and stood up on her own.

"Before I leave please answer me this... Before this day and yesterday, have you ever lied to me?" There was an unparalleled look of sadness in Ruby's eyes as she waited for his answer. With his back turned to her, she couldn't really see his face but she assumed that he had a blank expression.

"No, I have not."

"Then that means that you weren't lying to me when you said that you love me." She didn't hear another reply from Dyrroth and the world seemed to hold its breath as the two of them stood there with his back turned to her. It felt like they were the only people in the world as Ruby waited for him to speak.

"As I've told you, you are nothing but a fling. 'Love' is a word whose meaning I don't know and it appears that you are holding onto that to keep yourself safe under my protection. But in truth, you're nothing but a novelty. A new toy to play with and now I've gotten bored with you so I'm throwing you away. Leave from my sight before I do it for you."

Ruby took a momentary pause to absorb his words. She had already thought of it before but hearing it from his own mouth is so painful. But why does it sound so... Fake? Like he doesn't really mean it.

However, if he is really pushing her away and telling her to leave then she won't force herself here and linger any longer where she's not wanted. But before she leaves, she wants him to know how she really feels.

"Dragons." she blurted.

"Huh?" Dyrroth said boredly turning back towards her.

"You make dragons rage inside my body." she said earnestly.

"I know that you know what it means but ever since I spent time with you I was able to feel new things. Greater things that no one else had ever made me feel and it made me scared but it also made me curious. I know that we are parting and that you don't want me anymore but I want to be honest with you for the last time." A pained smile stretched across her pink lips with a look of farewell.

"I like you, Dyrroth. You are the first person to ever make me feel like I am everything and I'm sorry for the way I treated you as well. I won't stay where I'm not needed, if I'm losing everything then I want to retain my dignity."

"Goodbye." Her heart couldn't bear the humiliation and the pain anymore so she did the best thing she can and ran away from him without being able to see the surprised look on his face nor his hand that reached out for her and only grasped thin air as his feet glued themselves on the ground. A war raged within himself to chase his passion or to succumb to his pride but in the end, his pride won leaving his heart broken.

He shook his head.

A prince shouldn't chase a pretty butterfly, he has more important things to do. He had said so himself; she's nothing to him but a fling, a toy. Losing one plaything shouldn't bother him.

Finally making up his mind, Dyrroth turned back to his minions and yelled at them to continue with their job before proceeding to discuss things with the blacksmith.

🌹

When she finally got out of the stables, Ruby ran towards a precipice and cried all her frustrations out. She's not in love with that demon, no she's not! But why the hell is she crying? Why the hell does her heart constrict when he pushed her away and told her that she's nothing but a toy? Why does she feel so damn miserable when he told her that she doesn't matter to him?

She's confused why she's sad at the same time she's angry for being played with. Uncomfortable emotions of misery swirled in her heart while her mind overflowed with thousands of thoughts. Tears poured out of her eyes and she wiped them away only to pour out more.

What hold does that demon have on her to make her feel this way? And why the fuck did she tell him that she likes him?! This is so damn frustrating. She's never felt this confused and miserable since her first heartbreak, since her grandparents died...

Why is she having a heartbreak in the first place? He should be meaningless to her other than her captor. She released a loud angry scream to vent out her frustrations until she heard a dark amused chuckle from behind her and she swiftly turned to see who it was only to see no one there. She stood up to be on her guard but was startled when fur brushed up her leg.

"Greetings my pretty little gem. It's been so long since we last spoke with each other." A familiar low growling voice greeted as cold began to settle in her body.

"Fenrir? What are you doing here?" she mused breathing out a puff of cold breath as she looked up at the massive wolf who towered over her. Dread settled in her stomach but she pushed it down knowing that he won't hurt her.

The mythical wolf was grand in size, about ten times larger than the regular ones and his fur is as white as snow and just as cold. His bright blue eyes that lit up like glowing sapphires made her body shiver but she tried her hardest to maintain a calm composure even after her break down.

Ruby can see a blue wintery aura emanating from his body. He is extremely majestic for a beast to say the least but she knew better than to treat him like a simple monster. She had witnessed first hand how intelligent and manipulative he can be. He provokes and convinces his victims with his flowery silver tongue and you wouldn't know that you're under his spell until you've fallen completely in his trap.

Ruby shivered. His mere presence was able to bring cold and frost down in the Abyss and he's not even here. His true body has been bound for centuries in an island elsewhere hidden from anyone else but the gods and yet he managed to send his presence in one place and another.

"I miss my greatest priestess. I felt you tap deeper into my powers months ago but since I have no Authority nor anchor to this place it was very difficult to reach you. Thankfully, I can at least see things from your eyes and from the looks of it you're currently in a dilemma that can cost you your life and the whole world's fate." Fenrir had a humanish grin on his wolf mouth making Ruby shift in discomfort which the wolf didn't fail to notice.

"I see that you're still not comfortable with this tamer version of my original form. Very well, I shall change it for you." Fenrir's body shifted to something smaller and more erect until he turned humanoid.

"Here. I assume that this form is more to your taste." Fenrir had changed into a dashing young man with soft silver hair and the bluest of sapphire-colored eyes. He wore a thick white fur coat and a grand silver and gray tunic underneath which greatly accentuated his ripped body. His appearance isn't completely human because of the odd wolf ears on his head as well as the white wolf tail on his bottom but Ruby did her best to not gawk at how handsome he is.

"Now then, what made my favorite human upset?" Fenrir asked as he lifted her chin to meet his eyes.

"It's nothing. Do you have something particular to tell me about?" she inquired changing the subject and moving away from him a bit.

"Of course, I want you out of here. Your soul has a strong affiliation with mine. That's why I've got to do everything to keep you alive and have you help me, my priestess." Fenrir voiced with a flirtatious tone while playing with a lock of her golden hair.

"You know a way out of here?!" she exclaimed in alarm.

"Not particularly, but one of my wolves perished and witnessed something peculiar and I believe that whoever killed him knows the answer of how you can escape." This information greatly captured her interest, making her eyes widen.

"Really, who is it? What should I do to get to them?" she asked frantically, desperate to know the answer and get away from here. From him

Fenrir released a deep amused chuckle before pinching her cheek.

"I wish I can have you as my wife. You are just too adorable." Ruby slapped his hand away and frowned at him cutely.

"Tell me so I can get out of here."

"Of course but on one condition."

"And what might that be?"

"A simple kiss on the lips would suffice, my priestess."

"What? But aren't you going to help me so I can help you? Isn't that like the payment?"

"I'm the god here so I make the rules. It's just a kiss or are you reserving all your smooches for your demon? I bet you also want him to fuck you even though he told you that you're just a toy." It seems that he provoked her too much because Ruby grabbed his collar and crashed her lips against his in a wild makeout session which greatly astonished the wolf who smirked and wrapped his arms around her waist as he replied to her sloppy kissed with more experienced sensual ones.

It wasn't long before she pulled away and snarled at him.

"Shut up about that topic or else I'll skin you alive and make a coat out of you. I don't give a shit if you're a deity or whatever but you don't get to bitch my personal life." she threatened in a low growling voice while glaring daggers at him. Fenrir only released a loud laugh in amusement.

"You really are something else, huh? I would have taken you for myself however your stars do not align with mine in that category. Even I know that you belong with someone else and I won't push myself on you because of that."

"Then what was that kiss all about? And who are you talking about that I'm meant to be with? Is it Granger?"

"Easy there cub, as for the kiss it's a Divine Blessing to protect you from harm. Wolves are travelers and hunters, with my blessing you will have immense luck with what you are looking for and safety from absolute death but that doesn't mean that you're invincible so you still have to be careful. As for your second question, I can't really reveal to you your fate but you are destined for a great adventure that will be told in history for millennia to come." Fenrir said which made Ruby scoff.

"What? Like being the bitch of a Demon Prince?"

"Yeah it revolves around that mostly but you'll see. I don't want to spoil you all the fun so let's get back to business. Right now I need you to be very brave and bold, so wipe your tears for now and continue it when you get back home, okay?"

"Okay." Ruby answered.

"Good, now I want you to go to the market and buy a cloak and a satchel from a hag and ask where she got the material of the bag. That's all you need to know for now then you can handle the rest. I'm not sure if it will guarantee your escape since Fate is also at play but it's the only way I know that I can help you with. You're a smart girl and I believe in your talents so you better make me proud." Unexpectedly a small smile stretched across the maiden's lips.

"Although that's a little vague, I guess I appreciate the gesture. Thank you, Fenrir." she said in gratitude making the wolf smirk with pride.

"No problem. Oh, I almost forgot. You're going to need these in the future. I have a visitor so I need to go now. Good luck out there, my favorite priestess." The wolf pushed two objects into her hand before kissing her forehead and vanishing in a dust of snowflakes leaving the girl dumbfounded.

When Ruby recovered, she released a relieved shiver before looking at the objects in her hands. Fenrir had left a blue leather-bound notepad and a silver pen which greatly confused her. She won't question if he gave her a dagger or a sword even, but why this? This doesn't have a connection with the quote "the pen is mightier than a sword" shit, does it?

She wasn't able to think about it further because she heard approaching footsteps so she started moving to go to where Fenrir instructed.

Ruby made her way to the market area of the Abyss to gather a few materials for her adventure which she had already thought of before Fenrir even said it. She's going to need a new cloak, preferably black or brown to blend with the people plus she left her red one in their room. Or Dyrroth's room only, because she's been kicked out.

It's such a bummer because her grandmother was the one who made that cloak for her but maybe she can sneak in when he's out and grab it. But that's too risky, she should try that once it's been a week or so to cool his temper.

She finally reached the trade center which is very large and rowdy, filled with merriment and chaos. Some parts have extremely pungent odors because of the odd things being sold like a giant beating heart, eyeballs, and even human heads which made her gag.

She instantly received odd stares after entering but none seemed to plan on getting close to her which suited her favor. She first went to the cloak-seller and asked what she can afford to buy with the money in her pocket. Thankfully, she's always prepared and often brought Abyssal currency in her pockets just in case this stuff happens.

"Excuse me, what can I get with this?" she asked the witch-looking peddler whose eyes widen when she presented her a large golden coin before rummaging through hidden boxes with shinning greedy eyes.

"For that, I can offer you, a cloak made out of dragon skin from the one the prince himself killed. Fire will not burn you and it will keep you warm for the cold Abyssal nights. Nothing but the finest for his majesty's favorite." the woman presented her with a dark crimson cloak made out of scales, leather, and velvet. She touched it to test its authenticity and confirmed that it's real due to how similar it is to Skywynne's scales but harder and bigger.

"I'll take it. Oh, do you also have a pouch? Preferably a sturdy one."

"I have just that but, my lady, why are you in need of such travel equipment? Are you and His majesty going for a trip and where is that snobbish demoness always tailing you around like a guard dog? This is a dangerous place for humans such as yourself." the hag said after she paid for the items.

"Well it's kind of complicated but this bag is made out of wolf skin. Did you perhaps go to the human world to get this? If so which way did you use?"

"Ah, so you are trying to escape his majesty. A lovers' quarrel is none of my business but my knowledge can be imparted for a fair price. Another golden coin perhaps." Ruby paid the price with a frown and the hag beckoned her closer.

"Since the seal on the Abyss was destroyed, strange portals have been appearing in some places leading to the human world or other places in the Land of Dawn. They rarely linger longer than seconds so it's very hard to come by and the time gap between the opening of a new one oftentimes takes weeks or months but I happen to come by one that led me to a dreadful forest and then this wolf you called it, attacked me. I killed it which became your satchel and hopped back in before the portal closed." The story sounds made up but she doesn't have any other lead so she has to believe it rather than wander around this hell hole aimlessly. Plus that's what the wolf instructed.

"Where did you stumble upon it?"

"It's the wasteland called The Fangs because of the sharp mountains that looked like monster teeth and it's crawling with vicious and bloodthirsty beasts. It's located if you traversed further south passed the city and through the small low-class demon village. I was collecting fire serpent skin when I stumbled upon it and if you're lucky you might come across it in a matter of weeks. If you're not, then, you might be stuck here for quite a while. But I heard that Alice kept a magic mirror that can take you to any place you can imagine if you can utter its command words and be its master but I think that you'll have more chances of success by barging up the main gate and demanding to be let out. But you should know where that is, Alice's workshop, since you lived with the prince, yes?"

"Yes, thank you for the information. I'll be going now." Ruby wrapped the cloak around her back and pulled the hood over her head to conceal her identity. The cape was a good fit, perfect for her height and not too warm, it's also very stylish but not too eye-catching however it does glint when hit by light.

Before she can go on her exploration, she first had her breakfast and bought a sufficient number of food rations leading to her last five golden coins. Luckily, Dyrroth was very generous and she was cautious. She collected all the gold he gave to her and stored some in a pouch she always carried around just in case she has to run away from him and temporarily hide in the Abyss.

She lowered her head and tried blending with the crowd as she walked through the streets of the suburb where myriads of humongous and terrifying demons move around while some fight or even fuck out in the public. These demons live in caves that they carved on the stone while some built cubic shaped houses or huts made of stones and red clay. She averted her gaze from the obscene sights and increased her pace while planning her next course of action and keeping her guard up.

She suddenly took twists and turns when she felt someone spying on her. She entered an alley between the clay houses and climbed over one to jump from roof to roof before snaking around the buildings and then entering the swarm of demons where she vanished completely from sight.

She finally left the settlement area and traveled through an empty road with nothing but stones and cliffs as far as the eye can see but at least she seems to have lost her pursuer. It may probably be from Alice or even Dyrroth who wanted to assassinate her but she won't give them the pleasure. She will escape this place and survive this hell hole so that she can finally return to her normal life.

As for the prisoner, well... There's nothing more she can do for them. She would always help someone given the chance but she's in a situation where she can't afford to make another mistake so they have to fend for themself... Even if it turns out to be one of her friends. She won't look back from here on out unless it's for her own safety.

She continued with her isolated path and started thinking about the knowledge she currently has. If the information the peddler gave to her is correct then she still has a week or so before the next portal appears somewhere in the most likely vast wasteland. Before that, she needs a place to stay while waiting for it to appear. However, demons don't have the concept of hotels or inns and sleeping on the ground is not an option because of how dangerous everyone in this hell hole is. Perhaps she can find an empty cave to stay in while scouting for the portal in the Fangs.

As she was lost in her thoughts allowing her feet to carry her anywhere, time seemed to have passed by rapidly and she had somehow wandered the Abyss but ended up in a residential area of lower-class demons who built their homes by carving the hills and walls of the chasm. This must be the last frontier before the Fangs. However, unlike most of the parts of the Abyss, the atmosphere here seemed calmer, even friendly. Young demons play around happily with innocent smiles and laughter she had never before witnessed from this place while the adult ones work for their livelihood diligently. The scene almost reassembled her home and her peaceful village making her feel nostalgic.

She paused for a while standing there and enjoying the familiarity of the environment however a few distressed screams pierced the air, catching her attention. She turned her gaze to the source of the commotion and saw a bunch of buff looking demons beating up a frail-looking demon while a screaming woman, probably his wife, is being held by a hobgoblin who is touching her inappropriately. A few of their neighbors are present but they can only watch with pity because they too are powerless and weak.

Even though they are not humans, Ruby felt sympathy for the oppressed demons and being a hero of justice, she couldn't just overlook this abuse just because of the bad reputation of their race so she acted. Summoning her scythe would just give herself away so she depended on the closest weapons she has: her own fists and legs.

She first took out the hobgoblin harassing the female demon by kicking the back of his legs before elbowing his neck and crushing his balls under her heel. This gained the attention of the other demons who were beating the pitiful man. They started to charge at her, all five of them in total but Ruby pulled a knife from the hobgoblin before quickly responding to her attackers. She slit the throat of the closest one before dodging the ax of the second one and sinking the blade to his nape. There was no time to pull the knife because it was deeply embedded on the demon's flesh so she took his ax and repelled the sword of the third one.

She gritted her teeth as she dug her feet on the soil to push against his blade. She noticed his other comrade pulling on his bow and aiming the arrow towards her head and releasing it to fly but Ruby responded quickly by moving her head sideways, barely missing the arrow that was able to cut a few strands of her hair before completely zooming past her. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to avoid the powerful kick the demon she was crossed blades with, sent to her stomach which made her fly backward.

Ruby staggered back but kept her footing, she moved away as the archer sent another arrow at her direction. She picked up a stone and threw it at the swordsman demon who evaded it effortlessly but failed to see the ax that split his head open. Ruby picked up the demon's shield and charged towards the archer.

The archer fired arrows after arrows that pierced the shield but didn't dig deep enough to harm her. She moved firmly while defending herself with the single meager shield. One arrow shot past her leg leaving a long wound that bled but she didn't mind it. While the archer was loading another bow, she hit his hands with the shield making him let go of his weapon. She slammed the edge of her shield on his face that brought him down before continuously bashing his face with it over and over again until he turned into a bloody pulp and died.

The demon bystanders who witnessed her murder all had terrified faces but some had satisfaction.

Ruby panted as she stood up before taking the archer's knife and stabbing the heart of her fallen opponents to make sure that they are all dead. She also searched their belongings and found a good number of coins and a sharp knife she can use to defend herself.

It's not really her habit to steal from the dead but these are desperate times that call for desperate measures plus the right of conquest gives her privileges to their possessions. It's not honorable but she'll only think of this as if it's like the game she played with Layla where you get items and coins by defeating monsters. After completing her tasks she went to take her leave but the female demon whom she saved grabbed her wrist catching her attention.

"Thank you so much for helping us. We cannot express the amount of gratitude that we felt for your kindness. Not many would do the things you did in this place." smiled the woman and Ruby lowered her head to avoid revealing her identity.

"Please tell us what favor we can do for you to repay your kindness." said the man approaching her as well.

"Oh, Abyssal Lords you are—!" the demoness placed a hand in her mouth in shock when she saw her face. The people also seemed to recognize her and started talking among themselves making her nervous.

"Is she really here?"

"She's the maiden who fell from the sky. The one who captured the prince's heart!"

"She's who they called the Queen of Lifesteal."

"A true fighter who killed 30 warriors the moment she arrived and exchanged insults with the prince."

"I should go." Ruby tried to leave but the people had surrounded her however what greeted her is not their scowling faces and hostile behavior but the opposite of it. They were cheering her and calling her praises all wanting to applaud her.

"Excuse me, what is happening?" she asked in confusion.

"Our village admires you for your valor and strength. The stories of your battle with his majesty reached even our humble ears and even the tales of your valor as a little girl who vanquished the vicious beasts of the north, you called 'wolves'. It's a true testimony that even though we're small and weak we have a chance of fighting back and being strong in our own way like you did." the demon answered with a large grin of admiration.

"How did you know about my childhood?"

"The Prince himself boasted of your achievements to his minions and your story resonated throughout the Abyss. You are quite famous throughout the whole legion, my lady." Okay, that's not at all flattering. Being idolized by demons is far from what she wanted in life and it might cause more problems for her escape.

"You must be tired my lady if you came all this way from his majesty's domain. It will be our honor if you allow us to serve you." Ruby wanted to decline but that doesn't seem to be an option due to their hopeful expressions so she just went along with it.

"Right this way, my lady." the demoness smiled kindly before leading her to their clay house.

Ruby felt quite unsure, even edgy due to their behavior. She's not the type of girl to blindly trust anyone who praised her, more so if they are all smiles and applause. She had learned the hard way to distrust kindness more than any other attitude because it's the most poisonous pretension especially in this dreadful place but she followed anyways to escape the discomfort of being ogled upon by a crowd. She just hoped that they don't boil her alive and have her for supper.

🌹

Dyrroth sat sourly in his throne while listening to a report about the weaponry and the ores used to manufacture them. He couldn't care less about the subject given his previous sleepless night and the memory of the human bitch that wouldn't leave his mind but he tried to forget it by immersing himself with his work. Behind the current speaker stood a line of many more making him frustrated but he only pursed his lips and listened carefully.

He noticed Sorca enter capturing his attention and he held his hand up for the goblin in front of him to shut up and beckoned the demoness closer. Sorca quickly stepped up to his pedestal and whispered to his ear.

"The mistress has been found, my lord." she reported.

"Don't honor that human." he said with venom. "Now continue with you're report."

"Of course your majesty. First, she was seen sleeping in the stables with her wyvern before going to the market and buying a few travel things. She seems to be prepared and had previously planned for this type of situation allowing her to act collected. We questioned everyone she spoke with about her destination but only one of them has relevant information. A cloak-seller told us that Ruby is heading towards the Fangs to search for a portal to her world. Currently, she is staying in the Melbar village near the outskirts of the Fangs but she seems to be planning on exploring the wasteland. What should we do, my lord?" Dyrroth contemplated this for a while before replying.

"Nothing. Let that bitch chase a hoax only to be disappointed. I want her to feel miserable and hopeless. I want her to crumple and feel powerless until she is crawling in the dirt and report to me everything going on in her pitiful life. This ought to entertain me while she's still alive." Dyrroth answered firmly with a wicked grin but Sorca saw something far from amusement in his features and entirely different from hate for the human girl.

"That will be all. Tell the servants to bring lots of liquor to my other room and also send a dozen concubines as well. I need a break." Dyrroth stood up from his throne and casually walked down his pedestal ignoring the questioning stares of the members of his court.
