Chapter 10
I was sitting in class with Aaron right next to me. This was the day that I was meeting my brother, which dad just mentioned for the first time. From what Aaron said, I was a little afraid to meet him, which took my attention away from everything. I studied the teacher as he read from the book in his hand. I didn't really like the book either, so it was a little bit of a good thing that I was spacing out. I was trying to think of the meeting today and how this brother of mine was really like. I sighed as I looked out the window, studying the trees which brushed passed the window in the breeze. Leaves blew off the branches and fell onto the ground with the breeze. I studied the window as little bits of snow spit out onto the trees, sticking slowly on the branches. I sighed as I tried to get the topics off my mind, but I just couldn't. I was starting to hear a voice, but I couldn't figure out if it was in my head again or not. "Ella," it said, as I stared out into the winter weather outside. Even though it was a new day, the school still seemed weird to me. Maybe I just need to calm down. "Ella" the voice came back with as a hand was brushed on my arm. I looked over at Aaron, seeing him bent down and leaning towards me. He pointed his finger to the teacher, which made me look up at the front. Our teacher was a tall man, with spiky blond hair and red eyes that hid behind rectangular glasses. He was a vampire, who was working for Karlheinz, according to Ritska. He was disguised as a human, who constantly drank fruit punch in class. But everyone that knew about vampires knew that was blood. Human blood. Our teacher held his pointer behind his back as he spoke. "Ella. I understand that your having a rough time since your dad was rehired at the school, but please don't make me send you to see him because your not paying attention in class" he said, as I sat up and nodded. "I understand. Sorry" I said, feeling a little down. Our teacher went back to his lesson as he continued to walk around the front of the room. I peeked a glare at Aaron as he looked at me with a worried look on his face.
I sighed as I focused back on the lesson that was taught, trying to ignore the thought of our parents taking over. Our teacher went to speak as a knock came on the door. "Excuse me" a younger voice spoke as the door opened, revealing a boy in a blue uniform. "You're with the discipline committee, I'm guessing," our teacher said as the boy nodded. "I'm here to escort Ella. She has a meeting with her dad at this very moment" he explained as our teacher started to shuffle through some papers. "Ella you're dismissed. I'll put your paper's together and give it to Aaron for you after school" he said, as I stood up. "Thank you very much. And sorry about this" I said, as I started to walk to the servant that was sent for me. I walked out of the door as I shut it, then turned to the servant. "I'm guessing the family reunion?" I asked, even though I knew it was true. The servant nodded as he spoke. "Yes. I was sent to retrieve you. Please follow me" he said, as he started to walk down the hall. I sighed as I followed behind him, taking a deep breath. The fear of meeting my brother rushed through me, creeping in my body like the coldness of my ice. I wondered what power my brother had. I looked at my hand as I started to slow down, forming my hand into a fist. "He's probably here to help them," I said to myself as the servant spoke. "Ella. Is everything ok?" he asked as I looked up. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just thinking to myself" I said, as I started to follow him more. I kept to my thoughts, as we walked down the hallway again. I kept myself from speaking out loud, due to not wanting to keep them all waiting.
When we reached the third library, the room felt a bit colder as we entered the room. Shifting entered the room as a familiar voice spoke. "You didn't hesitate to come. Told you Shiki" Mage said, which made me look to the right, seeing Mage sitting at a table with a stack of papers. I looked to the left of me, seeing Shiki playing with Roen's fur. "Ella's nothing like your son was. Rem taught her right when she was a kid" he said, as he started to rub the fur. I sighed as I followed the servant more to the office, as Mage stopped me again. "Hey, Ella. Good luck with your brother in there. Hopefully, your brother doesn't scare you that much" he said, as I nodded. "Thank you Mage," I said, as I started to follow the servant up the stares. I tried to keep calm as we got to the top of the stares. The servant turned to me as he spoke. "Here you are. Good luck in there" he said, as he stood off to the side. I looked at the door as I thought to myself. Both my brother and my dad were just through that door. What if I don't come out? I took a deep breath as I walked up to the door and knocked. The knock rang through the hallway, fear rushing through my body within each knock. I stayed silent as I heard dad's booming voice. "Come in Ella," dad said, as I opened the door and walked through, shutting it behind me.
Silently, I looked in the room, seeing my dad standing at his desk. He looked at me with a strict look as he spoke. "Thank you for coming," he said as I nodded. "Your welcome," I said, as shifting entered the room. I looked to where Mage's couch is seeing a boy that I never saw once in my life. He looked like my dad, with medium blond hair and brown tipped bangs draped over one eye. Emerald green eyes shined in the sunlight, as a creepy smile was planted on his face. He strangely felt familiar, but I don't remember him. "You decided to see me today," the boy said as he got off the couch. "Y... Yeah. Dad asked me too" I said, as the boy walked up to me. He was tall like my dad and gave me the same dark feeling like my dad did. The boy hugged me with a tight grip, almost like he was trying to kidnap me and make it seem like he wasn't. Feeling weirded out, I quickly stepped back out of his arms. The boy sighed as he spoke. "I guess it was too soon for a hug. Sorry Ella" he said, as dad walked up with us. He cleared his throat as he spoke. "Ella, I like to meet your older brother, Cameron Kaginuki" dad introduced the boy with. I studied my older brother with a look that couldn't be explained. Finally, I sighed as I spoke. "I'm sorry for my reaction. I just found out about this last night" I said, as the boy sighed. "It's fine. I'm just glad I could see you again. Haven't seen you since you were a baby" he said, as I studied him.
I sighed as I tried to keep my thoughts in my mind. Dad sighed as he spoke. "Ella. I know I would never do this, but why don't I let you out of school early. That way you two can catch up, get to know each other again" dad said, as I turned to him. "I can't. We have a test coming up in the next class. Plus I've missed too much, as you already know" I said, as I looked down. "Ella that wasn't a choice. Your being dismissed to catch up with your brother. I'll let your teachers know later" he said, as I looked at him. "But," I said, as Cameron sighed. "Ella. Might as well listen to dad. It would be best for the school, seeing how we're a family of devils" he said, as I looked at him. The creepy feeling kept rushing through me quicker than ever. Even with them threatening the school. I sighed as I nodded. "Alright. I'll go with you. But I have to make it home to the Tachibana residents later" I said, as Cameron studied me. His eyes gave me an eerie feeling still, which meant he was up to no good. Cameron sighed as he spoke. "Deal. Just give me till supper and I'll let you go" he said, his tone getting creepier. Dad sighed as he spoke. "Just be careful. Her roommate's hang out with vampires. Plus you remember Lindo" dad said to Cameron. The boy sighed as he turned to me. "Right. I remember him. Trust us, dad, I won't let anything happen to Ella" he said as he gave me a little smile. "Come on little girl. Let's go for a little walk, seeing how it's a nice day out" Cameron said, as he started to walk to the door. I stood there as I sighed. "Alright. One afternoon won't hurt. You sure I can skip class for this?" I asked as I turned to dad at the last part. Dad studied me as he spoke. "Your being forced to skip class. Just don't leave your brother until school is over" he said, as I sighed. I nodded as I turned to Cameron. "Alright. I'll go with you until your done. Then I go back to Lindo's" I said, as Cameron nodded. "Agreed. Alright, we're off" Cameron said, as he started to walk out of the office. I sighed as I started after him without a word. "Have fun you two. And Ella" Dad said as I turned to him. He smiled as he spoke. "Make sure you go home sometime after school get's out. You don't want Lindo finding out" he said, as I nodded.
I walked out of dad's office after Cameron. I couldn't believe that dad was letting me out early. I studied Cameron as he took a left and continued to walk through the halls, to one of the back doors. I pushed the door open as I stepped out into the sunlight. I blocked my face from the sun as it blinded me for a moment, then started to clear up. "Sun hit you just right?" Cameron asked as I nodded. "Yeah. It's a little bright. But my eyes will adjust" I said, as we started to walk to the front. I noticed dad's limo sitting out in front of the school. The driver opened the door as he waited for us to walk in. I stopped as I watched Cameron start to walk in. He turned back to me as he spoke. "What's wrong Ella?" he asked as I looked at him. "I'm sorry. I rather walk" I said as Cameron stepped out of the limo. "But it's faster to get to dad's mansion this way. He did let you out just for" he said, but I cut him off. "I don't care. I don't want to go to the mansion right now" I said, feeling my hands becoming colder. I was ready for anything, even if I had to freeze him. Cameron walked out of the limo and walked up to me, wrapping his arms around me. "Ella, nothing's going to happen. I'll protect you from any vampires" he said, as I walked out of his arms. "Vampires are not the problem. I have a feeling why dad came here and why he brought you. Ever since dad came back, things have been weird and that's why I didn't meet you the other day. I'm sorry if you wanted to take the limo somewhere. But I just can't" I said as I put my head down. Tears of fear started to form in my eyes as I cried to myself. Walking came closer as Cameron walked around me, hugging me from behind. "Shh, it's alright," Cameron said, as he placed his hand on my head, right over my eyes. A cooling mist brushed against my eyes, cooling down my face. It smelt like lavender, something that relaxed me and made me think of Lindo's. "Everything's alright. We're going to relax and have a fun time. You've been stressing from what everyone says, so just relax and don't worry" he said, as I felt my body collapse from exhaustion and stress. I wondered to myself as I felt my body go into a sleep mode, unable to move anything. Cameron rolled me on my back to face him as he spoke. "Just take a little nap, Ella. I'll make sure no one will hurt you until you wake up" he said, as I rolled over and shut my eyes, unable to do anything back.
