Angel Dust (@FadingGenes)
Angel Dust
I stage asphyxiation
Might attract His attention.
Look at me! I am in this state -
Bound by the chains of fate.
Starlight and stardust
together - I am my own world.
Dissociated from the others
I greet quietude - I am hurled
... far
... far away
[Have you ever noticed?]
We are all encased
in our precious glass jars
- intoxicated by this Angel Mist.
Enticing, it draws me in.
It's psychedelic - riveting.
I know, I will -
one day, pay for this Sin.
But until then, it's all rainbows
and starlings - Reality
a remote possibility;
I will be - I am my own calamity.
A/N: I think this poem is about losing yourself to the world, and catalyzing your own destruction. It has definitely got some spiritual elements to it - the subject wants the attention of a Higher Being, but failing to get it, resorts to an alternative solution: creating your own hallucinogenic world where everything is dissociated from reality. There's also an element of being trapped, but it's open to interpretation. I'd welcome readers' comments and what they thought about it.
