Chapter 18

"We got the notification for the fire alarm! What happened?!" Steve panicked as he ran to his daughter.

"Peter kinda set the kitchen on fire while trying to to make me breakfast in bed," Luci hugged her dad with a giggle.

"Ha! Just like Steve!" Destiny laughed and her husband cleared his throat.

"I tried to make you feel better cause you were upset about... you were upset," Steve said and Destiny knew exactly what he meant but Luci was curious.

"About what?" Lucinda asked curiously and her father looked down.

"I-it's nothing sweetie."

"Is it why you won't tell me about how you and mom got together? I wanna know. You never tell me and I really want to know," Luci sat at the table and looked at her parents.

"I think she's old enough, Steve..."

Steve sighed, having still not forgiven himself for how much he hurt Destiny.

"Well, sweetie, you know how I was born in the early twentieth century and was stuck in the ice for about seventy years?"

"Yeah, of course I know," Luci hummed as she nodded.

"Back when I was still in World War two, I had a lover... Peggy Carter... when I came out of the ice, your mother was one of the first people I saw. We became friends and I started to develop feelings for your mother but I was still in love with Peggy..."

Destiny shifted on her feet, remembering everything and how much it had hurt her.

"I told your mother that I didn't love her as much as Peggy and that when Tony found out how to time travel, I was going to leave her to be with Peggy again," Steve looked down, ashamed if himself.

"Then you came along and I was scared. I was terrified to be pregnant with you because if Tony figured out time travel, Steve would leave me and I would be a single mother. I talked with Tony and he told me to leave Steve because I was being used so I did," Destiny held Steve's hand, knowing he didn't like remembering what he did.

"I was scared when you're mom left because I truly loved her but I couldn't find her anywhere."

"I had left and gone to Queens. I was living on the streets for a while when I met a woman named Mary Parker," Destiny looked at Peter as he looked down.

"Mom..."

"She let me stay and I got a job to pay for my own food and stuff like that. At the time she was pregnant too.. I was there when they came up with the name Peter Benjamin Parker. I was gonna name you Lucy Rose Rogers. Your dad came back though and we ended up naming you Lucinda instead."

"That's how you you Peter were together since birth," Steve said, giving Peter a little glare, still not over the thought that he might take Luci away from him.

"Yep and that's also why we got this penthouse with Tony's help," Dez added as she gave Steve a small smile.

"Well now I finally know. Hey dad, can we see your old home in Brooklyn?"

Steve chuckled lightly and nodded before saying, "one day, Luci. I'll take you there eventually."

"Yay!" Luci smiled brightly and leaned against Peter lightly. "I wanna see where you and uncle Bucky grew up."

Destiny giggled as she gently squeezed Steve's hand.

"I wish we could go back in time and meet you when you were younger, like my age," Luci said and Dez laughed.

"I would love to see scrawny you as well. From the description in the museum, I would still be shorter if not as short as you," Dez joked as she pecked his cheek.

"I was five foot four inches before I received the serum. I wasn't very attractive," Steve admitted and Destiny snorted.

"I've seen the pictures and yes you are. Plus, you are attractive on the inside which is what I truly fell in love with," Destiny made him look at her, love clear in her eyes. They were about to kiss but Luci gagged.

"Don't do this in front of me. Peter and I don't do it to you guys," Luci teased her parents.

"Then leave the kitchen. I'm having a moment with your father," Dez said as she leaned against her husband.

"Alright, have fun." Luci got up with Peter and went into the living room.

"Wanna watch a movie or something?" Peter asked as he put his arm around Luci's waist.

"Sure. How about the new Jumanji," Luci suggested and Peter laughed.

"Alright."

They spent the whole morning and afternoon watching movies and cuddling.

🕷

Peter woke up, not knowing when ended up falling asleep, and looked down at Luci who was asleep in his arms.

He smiled and placed a gentle kiss on her temple. He looked over to see Steve and Destiny on the opposite end of the large couch, snuggled together as they slept.

Luci was comfortable in Peter's arms, shifting to bury herself closer into his chest.

"I'm so lucky. You shouldn't have even forgiven me. I said all those nasty things and you still wanted me. What did I do to deserve you? I'm so so sorry... I regret saying all of those things to you," Peter murmured as he buried his face in her hair.

"You are the most gorgeous girl I've ever met, you are so incredibly smart and I never knew the reason you didn't graduate early was so you could stay back with me, you aren't weak at all, you are the nicest person I know, and you are just so much better than I thought... just one of you is better than ten of Liz... I see that now," Peter kissed her head and kept her close.

Luci peeked her eyes open, having been slightly awake but she heard everything.

"I'm glad you see that now. I've wanted that forever," Luci said softly and Peter blushed a bit.

"H-how long have you been awake?"

"Long enough to hear everything you just said. And I want you to know, you did everything to deserve me. You've saved countless people, been there for me when I needed you ninety five percent of the time, and you are so nice to everyone, so incredibly smart, and you are almost perfect."

Peter looked down, "so you don't think I'm perfect..." That hurt him a little.

"You are perfect for me but nobody is truly perfect. Even me. I'm far from perfect," Luci put a hand on his cheek gently.

"But you are perfect. You are absolutely perfect."

"That's so sweet, Peter, but I'm not. I kept constantly asking you out even after you kept saying no. I made you not want to be my friend anymore just because you were uncomfortable around me. I was absolutely awful," Luci admitted and Peter shook his head.

"I was in the wrong, Lu. I just kept saying 'not today' and 'I am busy'. I thought about telling you that I didn't want to be with you but my heart wouldn't let me because deep down, I did. That's why I ended up telling you that I didn't want to be your friend anyway. My mind told me that Liz was who I wanted but my heart wanted you... but I never listened and when I... I used you... it made me realize how much I truly you," Peter didn't want her to feel like she wasn't perfect because in his eyes, she was absolutely perfect.

"You're so sweet," Luci smiled and pulled Peter into a gentle kiss before they heard a gasp.
