Chapter 49
Y/n's POV:
It's been almost a week now and I'm at a loss for what to do. All of our supplies had been used up in such a short amount on time, searching. As suspicious as I had been that the kids were with the others, you can't rely on suspicious alone. Worst case scenario... the levels just keep building up in my head. Zoey and Levin left a mere couple hours ago so that we could restock and not starve ourself to death from the frantic usage of materials. Kawaii~chan and Nicole weren't back, and probably wouldn't be until this gets resolved.
How the hell do you just lose three kids?!
The children were the main ones keeping everything as lively as it was. Without that extra buzz of chatter, Phoenix Drop was feeling more and more empty every day. Then add to the fact the millennial adults with energy bars in their pockets, all dipped at the same time also. If Donna weren't here, I might have gone crazy.
The only other girl in the settlement aside from Alexis, not to mention she was a mother herself so the extra flare of conversation. Thankfully, her powder puff children were well behaved and played house instead of the longest game of hide and ducking seek ever.
I was at my wits end. Drowsy, kranky, miserable, I was sitting down and drinking tea for Christ sake. I didn't know how long I would have been able to handle this until recklessness would sink in, and I would run off to find them myself. My baby was missing and we had zero clues as to where to look! It was so frustrating, the stress migraine wasn't doing much to help either. The strangest thing though, was that this had me thinking a lot about my family.
Blood related family, mind you. It had been... forever since I had last thought about them. The whole situation with Trinity leaving and my Mom trying to get her back seemed much to present. Too relatable to what's happening now. It was weird, I can't remember there full faces. It's that type of thing where you can picture the actors hair and eye color yet not the position of there nose or mouth. But if seen in public you would recognize them immediately.
I sighed, shaking the iced glass around. It was hotter than normal today, that midrange between sunny and burning. Plain uncomfortable.
Dante had listened to me, taking a power nap before storming off to let off some steam from the jet fast pacing of his thoughts. The blueberry has waaayy to much to think about as it is. I probably should have listened to myself, sleep was looking prettier and prettier every 5 minutes.
That was when some commotion towards the docks spiked my interest. I could see the top of some boat sails over a house. Speed walking out of pure nosiness became a sprint of this being my business, when Nekoette and Dmitri ran past. The former seeming jolly as the latter looked a little irritated.
Dante was standing in front of Aphmau and Katelyn as they all were getting off the their boat. He was yelling at them about the kids, I would be doing the same in about 30 seconds. I was an angry mother ready to protect and attack, this could turn into a shit show if I didn't find what I was looking for. I didn't get more then a very threatening 'HEY!' Before the little punk came into view.
His clothes were tattered and burnt(?????) but didn't look at al injured. That didn't stop me from almost snapping his neck myself to search his head top to bottom for any signs of a concussion or even the flu. Oisín didn't object, his expression guilty and self deprecating. I continued carrying furrowed brows and a pursed lip to keep from crying on the spot.
I finally just hugged Oisín after his examination. God I missed him, I even suspected Amarion had done something which wouldn't be far fetch. "You stupid, stupid, stupid boy! I am so upset right now, I don't even know what to say to you. What in the living hell were you thinking?!" Oisín was clinging to my larger frame like I would disappear(and that's saying something). He was shaking and sniffling into my shirt.
"I-i thought,, t-that you were gonna b-be there..."
It's an excuse, but a good one. Oisín had asked me when we got back to Phoenix Drop if I planned on leaving with the Aphmau and them. We never did finish that conversation.
We calmed down after a minute enough to pull away and for me to whipe his face off. "You ask me before making rash decisions again hear me?? Now... go wait at Uncle Dante's house. I need to ask some questions. You'll be in trouble later, for now... just go wait."
Laurence POV:
The talk I had with the little guy made me glad they at least made mention of the small family conflict that was steadily building. Though, I was still very frightened of the mauling we all would receive for not being here with them sooner.
After the terrible first impressions with Travis, we went back to his house in the mountains, learned more on the Demon Warlock(he is trapped on the island by a barrier placed by Travis's mother), Aphmau opened a Devine cave with a glowing book in it, the boat was set on fire by some imps and one was dressed as Aaron, the children were kidnapped, Aphmau went to face Demon Warlock alone, Aaron(real) went after and somehow managed to get her and the kids out of a 'pocket dimension' after Aphmau somehow activated her Irene powers and stabbed the Demon Warlock, the Cursed Sea was lifted as of that, Travis said he had a boat and wanted to come with us, and is now traveling with us.
Pretty subtle.
Y/n was quick to snap her head up at us once Oisín left with Dante. Anger was an understatement. She tapped her foot with a hand resting on one of her hips. She looked ready to pull out a wooden spoon and smack all of us on the hand a good ten times. Little, albino Travis then thought this was a perfect time to make his appearance. Stepping onto the docks and into Y/n's rain of fire.
That dwelling rage quickly melted into a confusion as she looked him over. That then turned into a wide eyed recognition that had her gasping, jumping and pointing at him. "Oh,, oh my god! Wha-- it's Travis?! ITS FUCKING TRAVIS!! Hahahahaha!! K-Katelyn! I-it's Travis!" Katelyn made a face, he had woken her up the other day getting a little too close for her comfort.
"I feel personally attacked that she called on me specifically."
I didn't understand how Y/n knew who he was, nor why she was so joyful about it that her previous emotions were thrown out the window. She didn't object at all when he went closer to her, putting an arm around her waist and everything. That in fact only made her laugh and jump even more. Travis was having a blast, smiling like a kid in a candy store.
I, in fact, wanted to body slam him. A heavy pit of jealously and irritation sat, being held back by the small optimistic part of me that said Y/n was going to break his wrist in a second. Though I learned the ability to breath fire when the opposite happened. She had an arm around his neck, they looked like that set of best friends that were definitely more then just best friends.
"Woah, woah, hey, hey, hey! I think that's enough of that wonderful display of affection shown by two complete strangers!"
I split them up with a glare, hugging Y/n from behind with my chin on her hair. If I can't do that, he for sure can't do that. Simply protecting what is mine from the bottom feeders.
"Fuck off, find another girl."
1360 words.
This is another one of those chapters that I had been wanting to make for a while, sassy/jealous Laurence and Y/n remembering stuff.
