Chapter 27
Y/n POV:
I already knew it was today, I said so earlier! But hearing it from someone else, rises a whole new level of panic. I don't know when I stopped listening to Fenrir talk, before his voice got louder than the ringing in my ears again. "...My heart is slowly sinking..." He must have been talking about Abby or something. Fenrir looked distraught and tired. I'm older than he is, and wouldn't normally sink to that level.
There was such a heavy mood in the air, I wanted to lighten it if any way possible. "Wow, am I so bad that you don't even want to marry me?" Fenrir slowly turned to look at me with that face people make when they didn't expect you to be an idiot. "?!... A-are you k-kidding me??" I ran a hand down my face after facepalming. "Calm down. I was just tryna make you laugh or something."
"...heh... HAHAHAHAHA! You really scared me for a moment there. I thought you might have fallen for my devilish good looks." He winked with a grin while leaning forward. I grimaced, being caught off guard and popped him in the face. Fenrir fell onto his butt on the floor. "Ouch... Hey!" I snorted upon registering what happened. "Sorry, you surprised me and my hand slipped." He narrowed his eyes still on the floor. "How does that even happen?!"
I shrugged, feeling ever so guilty. "Don't know, are you okay." Fenrir laughed again while growing a somewhat cocky expression. "Haha, you really think I could be taken down by you?" I blinked at him for a moment, wondering where this conversation was going. "Abby hits me way harder than this when I pretend-flirt with her." Understandable at least. They are friends and mine was a reflex.
"That sounds like a challenge if I ever heard one." He continued to just sit there with an eye roll. "Pfft, I challenge you to not snore so loudly in your sleep." I scoffed, placing a hand against my chest in defense. "Like hell I do, besides you're one to talk sinc--" Mino surprised me when he cut into our conversation. "Oh look at you two love birds!" I turned around to see him standing in the door way, grinning at the both of us.
"I knew you two would get along if we locked you in this room together!" He sounded so happy with each word. "Yeah, sorry that's not the case here--" "Escuse me?" The bubble went away as Mino stared with a blank expression. I tended up for a second remembering the act we had to keep up. "I-i mean, we're not fighting if that's what you think," Fenrir had stood up off the floor, "we totally love each other!"
I was trying my best not to sound plastic. Relationships is still a new thing to me, no matter how long it's been. "Cause, you know, I like the way his eyes.... blink." Awkward laughter. We're obvious, we are so obviously lying. "Oh, yes... hunny.. I, uh, like your... uh.... breathing." More awkward laughter. At least I sounded more genuine. "Oh you, stop! I'm blushing..." I was cringing at the fact that I even said that. "I was just telling her how I loooo~ve how cute she snores in her sleep."
I hummed while smiling, staring into Fenrir's soul telling him to shut up. "It's like a majestic dying goat." He looked off into space dreamily, ignoring me completely. 'So you want to play that game?' I subtly smacked the crap out of his shoulder. "Oh you~! I just love your double chin, like the way it shows. It's just so adorable." He finally turned back at me with furrowed eyebrows. "WHAT THE? I DON'T HAVE A DOUBLE CHIN!"
I smiled back with my hands clasped together. "Sure you do Sugar Muffin! It's nothing to be ashamed of, it gives you a nice esthetic! It's so cute, come on!" Fenrir started whispering since I was right in front of him. "(Okay are you insulting me now?)" I hummed once more, showing my agitation from the previous statement about me. "(You started it first~)"
Mino squealed in the background. "Look at you two! YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE! E e E e E e!" I still didn't not want to be here. "Now if the blushing bride with follow me, we have much work to do for you! We got to get you dressed and rehearsed a bit- this is going to be great! Come outside when you are ready! I'll let you two say your last goodbyes before you are married! Tee-Hee!" The chairman skipped out of the room, closing it behind him.
I sighed as the stressed started kicking back in. Fenrir looked spaced out while staring at the ground. "I... don't what to do this either... if this is truly the last time they'll let us see each other before the wedding then... we have zero plans. .. we won't be able to talk to each other to coordinate our escape... I have lost hope." That brought me down. He had so little of his life to be young and free. "Come on, there is still time for someone to get the message and save us."
"...You know what... Even if they don't... if we marry... I know that I married you to save Abby... I just want her to be happy, to allow her to live... then I will. Maybe I should just accept the fact that my fate has been sealed... I was never meant to be with Abby." Jeffery's daughter. I almost feel like crying every time I hear her name. I was the reason her dad was taken away from her, at least part of it. But that's not gonna stop me from trying.
Aphmau got out of this, we are also "SNAP OUT OF IT!" He looked up at me surprised some. I glared at him to get my point across even more. "Moping around never helped before, and it sure as hell won't help now! If you feel so strongly about her then you won't give up that easily! Even if this goes through, you still have her. But for me, Laurence dies. Abby is their bargaining chip while he is on a timer! I'm tired of hearing you talk like you'll never see her again!"
My eyes stung as my hands were balled into fists against my sides. "..I... I am sorry... in my darkest s moments I thought of nothing but myself... I forgot you had someone you care for in a worse situation. Forgive me... if I won't see you until we walk the aisle then... thy to come up with something... I'll do the same. Now go. May Irene's hand be in our favor..."
1144 words.
