Chapter 24

Y/n POV(better get used to it for a while.):

"...This isn' good...at all...Hm..look, I can buy him some time but I NEED you to play along with me in front of my father. Hold my hand, whatever you have to do... if you really want to save him...I-I'm sure I can get us time." Fenrir has doubt and worry in his whisper tone. Dread was creeping in as I agreed immediately, still side-eyeing the King. "Follow my lead." We both went down the stairs, hand in hand, next to where Laurence stood. With a plastered smile, I chose to stay quiet.

"AH! MY SON! I trust Mino has informed you of the situation?" Fenrir gave his response. "I see you brought your beautiful fiance to see this. Marvelous! Let her know you won't put up with other men after her." With each encounter, it's becoming harder for me to keep from sneering a comment or remark. But nails digging into my palm was a self-inflicting way to release some anger. "(What happened to you father....? You're so corrupt now...)"

"Hm? did you say something?" it was hard to the tell if the King was being genuine or if he wanted to hit a nerve at some point throughout the conversation. "IN FACT I DID, I SAID--" The King semi-glared at his son with resentful words. "yes... you should shout louder so your friend in the dungeon can hear you." Fenrir went quiet again at that, tightening his grip on my hand. "...I was trying to say, father. That I wanted to wait until the night of Y/n and mine's wedding to commence the beheading of this male Meif'wa."

"W-WEDDING?! WHAT THE--" I widened my smile even more, as it strained my cheeks. I didn't want to look at Laurence and hearing his great amount of confusion didn't help with him being only 4 feet away. "...Under what reasoning?" The King sounded unpleased with what was trying to be negotiated. "We're getting married under a full moon... perhaps the Lunar goddess would appreciate a... sacrifice... I'm sure you want to appease the spirits..."

"... BRILLIANT! I did not even think of that! Very well, we will commence the execution after the wedding. Guards, toss this male Meif'wa in the dungeon! This gathering is dismissed. Return to your quarters son." Fenrir bowed and began to walk back up the stairs, me towing behind. Once at the top, I saw Laurence being grabbed. "Y-YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS! I SWEAR IF YOU HURT HER I'LL--" Two werewolves began dragging him away as he fought back.

"UGH LET ME GO! Y/N!!" Laurence snapped his head back to me as I faltered my steps, before tearing away from his gaze and racing up the rest of the stairs. 'This is unfair. Unfair! UNFAIR!' We were being watched as we passed through the hallways. My fatigue remained straight until walking back into Fenrir's room. It was then I slammed my hands on the balcony rail in helpless fury. There was nothing to hit or throw without having bigger consequences thrown back at me.

"Damn it, Laurence..." He was supposed to protect Aphmau. To protect himself. he shouldn't be here because of me. No, they shouldn't be here because of Michi. I glared at the treelines beyond where I was standing. Fenrir had started pacing besides me. "I-I don't know what to say...I... I am truly... TRULY sorry for what my father has become. I am SO SORRY you are going through this..."

I chose not to respond and continue my glaring. "My father was not like this before the whole war started... It changed him... It corrupted him... He keeps telling me and my mother, 'we are set in our traditions' to excuse himself... b-but this... this is just... please. I am so sorry. So. Very. Sorry." Fenrir was clearly beating himself up over this. A part of me thought it was pathetic but logical, his emotions must be all over the place.

"...You bought Laurence more time. And I'm grateful for that. This isn't any of our faults, but we still play a part in what ends up happening.... God, if I made another contract with Zoey or Dante we could have gotten out of this mess last night!" There is still that one with Aphmau, but she is in an even worse predicament than I am. It wouldn't be of any help. "C-contract...?" I blinked realizing what I said.

Oh. It wasn't like I was keep a huge secret. Everyone just wasn't obligated to know. Magicks users have been heavily discriminated against, myself included. "Yes.. contract. I'm a magicks user, able to go into people's dreams in the form of verbals contract with some form of physical contact. Such as a high five or handshake. If I had got in contact with someone from the outside recently, they might have been able to help. But these contracts do wear off after a certain amount of time. It's complicated and hard to explain, you might not even believe me."

"...I believe you. I do, but... if it cannot be of any help to get us out of this situation then... we need another plan. We need to figure out how we can stop this from happening. Not just us but for your Laurence." My Laurence. That sounds weird. I shook my head going back to the subject of escaping. "How bad it may sound, couldn't we try attacking the King? He is your father and I don't normally resort to brute force, but in other situations it was the only way my companions and I were about to continue living."

"...A dark thought yes...but even if that were an option, he has guards 24/7... we cannot resort to violence without our actions affecting the ones we love in the dungeon." I huffed a breath at the thought. If anything we could just scare the guy. Not physically hurting him shouldn't get anyone in trouble. "...Wait! That's it Abby! Abby is a guard for hire... she doesn't stay in one village, but the last place she visited was Scaleswind... maybe she can help us. She has many connections in so many places! I'm going to need you to go see her in the Dungeon and talk with her to see if she has any ideas on how we can stop this."

That was a solid lead at least. I can understand the fact at to why he can't talk to her himself, Fenrir said how his mother was on our side and that she could be able to help me get down there. I was explained to tell her about the wedding and why she was being locked up down there. Why they didn't tell her themselves is cowardly and pathetic. I was gonna ask her about any connections that might be in town or super close by.

The plan for myself was set and we went to go find Ylva.

1243 words.

Guys, I had to write a 2-3 page autobiography for U.S. History. It barely was 1000 words, and that was almost a full three pages. These chapters are at least THREE PAGES LONG EACH TIME. That's some fucking dedicated if I have to say anything. This isn't a hiatus, but I gotta make draft chapters. Hang in there.
