Chapter 12

Aphmau POV:

Y/n wasn't too fond of the fact that she was given a dress to wear. "You still hate them even after all this time?" She shook her head no before responding to my question. "That's not it, just the fact that I want it to go with that belt of mine since it holds my weaponry and etc. *Sigh* it doesn't look that bad though so I'll deal with it." She was given a halter top dress with lace being at her hips and lower.

It was a light F/c where the lace was and white where it wasn't. Y/n decided to braid her hair into a pony tail, and then go over her shoulders. "Hey, why did you choose to put your hair in locs?" I asked with my own light turquoise dress on. "Hm? Oh, these are easier for me to take care of and quite pretty. But there are many different cultures in this region. I took a fond to one of them that I have back home and I've been loving it."

She then showed me the wooden carved and beaded jewelry that she could put in and around her hair but chose not too at the moment. It was pretty. "Hey, uh Y/n. That reminds me...." She turned her attention to me as we walked out of Cadenza's house. "I'm pretty sure you know this by now but... Garroth... wanted me to tell you something.." Her expression was now more neutral, with a subtle sense of being uncomfortable.

"...Well? What was it Aphmau? Don't just drop something like that on me and not say anything." She let out a fake laugh as we still walked. "Garroth. He hasn't been his normal self for both actions and words. When we were in the Irene Dimension and when we were at the tree not too long ago... He told me to tell you that he, loved you." It felt awkward even saying it for someone else. She let out a breath with that same expression.

"Aphmau, what do you expect me to do with this information? I pretty much figured that out when you guys left." I didn't actually expect anything. "I don't know. That was just something Garroth wanted me to do. I just think you should actually acknowledge it if someone brings it up. Donna told me how you've been keeping quiet about it whenever she asked. I just don't understand why you like to hide out when someth--"

"What makes you think I'd like talking about being the reason you guys were gone? About you guys missing out on your friends' and families' lives? About knowing you were alive when everyone else didn't? About him still being there? Or about this conversation right now? I'm not one for confronting emotions Aphmau, and this is just adding more salt to the wounds. Now I'd like to go take a look around Mateli. You might want to as well?"

She took strides out of the door and in a random direction by herself. 'Y/n probably wouldn't want to speak with me for a little while. I could have Laurence check on her lat--' "Hey, Aphmau! Are you coming or not?" Oh, nevermind. We both walked down a pathway in the direction of of a guard with straight black hair, a dulled caramel complexion and red eyes. The last one was a little weird.

"Hey, excuse me?" He turned towards us out of a miny daydream. "Hm? What do you wan-- Oh...OH! I apologize for addressing you so abruptly! Had I seen you before you spoke to me with such a soft voice I would have addressed you the way you deserved to be addressed!" Y/n and I shared a look before she responded to him. "Which is?" Oh Irene, this guy made the face. The Laurence face whenever he would flirt with somebody.

"Hm, good question. I'm not sure how you address such a beautiful goddess such as yourself." She was snickering when I grabbed onto her forearm and turned around. "Okay, we're done here." I was pulling Y/n away when laughed out a comment.  "Aw, come on give him a break! He made an adorable attempt, it would be funny to hear some of his pick up lines!" I rolled my eyes and continued going when the guy stuttered out a Wait.

"O-okay, I'm sorry! I should properly introduce myself." The guy cleared his throat as I stared at him with narrowed eyes. "My name is Vincent. I am second in command here in Mateli and one of Cadenza's guards. It's a pleasure to meet you and if you need any help don't be afraid to ask." My suspicious look went away after his explanation before we asked him where the library was.

Vincent told us it was near the blacksmith's work place. We were able to look at as many books as we wanted but were not aloud to leave wth them. A recent bandit problem occurred with many of their past books being burned for no reason. "Glad to help. Uh, if you happen to meet Cadenza don't tell her about the whole... me hitting on you thing? Not to say that I'm trying to hide it because you are beau--- but, yeah---"

Vincent said how Cadenza hasn't been in a good mood since this morning because Aphmau went missing. Not knowing that I was in fact Aphmau. It was a small thing to laugh about. We thanked him and continued walking on. "Hey, Y/n?" She hummed out a yes. "So to sum it up, you can visit people in their dreams. You can see & hear them but they can't see or hear you, or vis versa. But how does that work?"

"Well, the first time it happened was when you guys were still here. Dante said some threat that I can't remember and I made some remark. It had something to do with me seeing him in my sleep and I think we shook hands. That night I actually saw Dante when I was asleep, but it didn't feel like a dream to me. Like I was awake but somewhere weird, you know? Well as it continued happening with different people, I realized that it's from a verbal contract.

"Basically both parties have to agree even if they don't know what they are agreeing to. Then either they will see me and I'll just be there or I'll see them and it's just a regular dream to them." We then walked silently as I pondered over it. "I said before that it was hard to explain. I don't fully understand it, but I know it's just a basic magicks so don't think I'm OC all powerefull nonsense like that." She then lightly laughed before I asked another question.

"Well could we make a verbal contract? Sure, it'd be weird to see you in my dream but if the contract can be specific... then maybe the next time I see Garroth you could see him too? Or maybe him you, I-I don't know I'm still confused." She shrugged saying that it wouldn't hurt to try. "Alright *ahem* Aphmau could I invade your head the next time you go to the field of green and tree of oak?"

Y/n's hand was out and I grabbed it. "Every time I go you see Garroth you may follow, but there is no guarantee that it will happen again." We shook twice before she took her hand back with a smile. "Trust me, it will."
