Kim Taehyung was born in the world of crime. The second son of the infamous crime lord, Kim Sungho, he learnt to hold a gun at the age where children played with toy cars and mud.
He was always a little too smart for the likes of his father. He knew how to manipulate a situation to suit his needs, knew how to handle any weapon known to man. He was smart, calculative and definitely dangerous. Some would even say that if he wasn't born in the world of crime, he would have been known as an intellectual genius. Simply put, he was the prodigy his dad didn't want.
While any other father would have cherished the fact that their child was a prodigy, Kim Sungho was the exact opposite. He never particularly had a special connection with Taehyung. The woman who gave birth to Taehyung was a snitch who had to be killed.
And Kim Sungho hated Snitches. So for him, Taehyung was a shameful reminder of the time he got played by a woman who sold his secrets for millions.
Now, Taehyung, as we have established, is not stupid. He knew from a young age about his father's lack of love for him. He never really craved for it, if he was being honest. Love was restrictive. It was simply shackles that binded a person. It was a weakness.
It didn't come as a surprise when Taehyung killed off his father and brother to take over their criminal empire. He didn't regret it. He didn't feel any guilt. After all his father and brother had put him through, it was only fitting that they paid their dues with their lives.
Change is not welcomed in Taehyung's world. He despises it. He has strict rules that are always meant to be followed. No weakness was to be tolerated.
But everything changed in one chaotic night when Yoongi, the man who saved Taehyung's life once had come to collect the favor that Taehyung owed him.
There was someone that Yoongi was looking for. Someone that was taken away from him 4 years ago by a smaller gang.
Taehyung is a man who always kept his promises. And always paid what he owed. So Yoongi’s request became his new mission.
It took 6 months for his team to locate the target that Yoongi was looking for. Another 1 month to come up with a solid plan so that they may obtain the target safely.
It didn't exactly go according to plan. Lots of bullets were used that day as Taehyung's men raided the house where the Lee gang operated from. Nearly every member was killed except for the gang leader who was saved as a gift for Yoongi.
Taehyung led the raid, just as a precaution because he knew Yoongi’s main condition was that the target was unharmed.
His man searched the house but couldn't find the boy Yoongi was looking for.
A few broken bones later, the leader of the Lee Gang revealed that there was a secret cellar just beneath the house where the boy was kept.
Taehyung will admit, he wasn't prepared for what greeted him when he entered the cellar.
A thick stench of urine and faeces coated the room, making it unbearable to breath. There was a bucket in the corner, flies circling around it. The room was small, dark and extremely dirty. There were broken beer bottles on the floor, spoiled rotting food on a plate and signs of dried blood everywhere.
In the other corner of the room was a boy, all bones and haggard, with no clothes on his skin, hands bound tightly with a thin rope cutting into the skin, blood coated around it.
He was lying on the bare floor, visibly shivering. There was scars marring his body, cigarette burns and whip marks. Taehyung could see dried blood on the boy's inner thighs, and for the first time in a long while, Taehyung's stomach clenched with an unknown feeling.
He approached the boy, carefully and slowly.
"Hey", Taehyung's voice was low, a hand slowly inching closer to touch the boy's shoulder, only for the boy to flinch away in fear, frantic doe eyes looking up and tearing instantly.
The boy didn't speak, but Taehyung could see his breathing getting erratic and tears spilling uncontrollably.
He pulled his hand back, just opted to crouching down and sit in front of the boy, holding his hands up in surrender as if showing he meant no harm.
Feline eyes scanned the boy's body for any more injuries and what he saw made him even more furious.
There were needle marks all over the boy's arm, a clear indication of drugs being used. Patches of blue and maroon marred the pale skin, with some places turning yellow.
"I'm not going to hurt you", Taehyung said, his voice surprisingly soft, "Yoongi hyung sent me."
At the mention of Yoongi’s name, the boy looked up, eyes widening. Seeing as he finally had the boy's attention, Taehyung continued.
"He has been looking for you. I'm here to take you to him. I know you are scared and you have every right to be. You don't know me and you cannot trust me yet. Just let me help you this once. Let me take you to him."
The boy looked skeptical and frightened, not indicating anything. So Taehyung decided to use the one information Yoongi told him.
"Yoongi hyung told me to tell you this when I meet you. Said you will recognize it and it will help you to trust me. He said to tell you,'bunnies are hard to catch, not because the fox is slow, but because while the fox runs for his dinner, the bunny runs for his life'."
That seemed to make a difference as the boy slowly nodded, holding out his arms for Taehyung to take the binds off.
Taehyung exhaled sharply. The binds were perhaps 1 inches deep into the skin. The wrist was swollen and definitely looked infected.
"It's going to hurt, okay? I have to cut the binds, but it will hurt cause it's embedded into the skin."
The boy nodded, and Taehyung got to work. All throughout, the boy only winced when it hurt, silent tears falling out of his eyes.
Once Taehyung was done, he asked the boy to stand up. However, the boy shook his head, looking down at his feet and back to Taehyung.
"You can't walk?", Taehyung asked.
The boy nodded.
"Okay. I'm going to pick you up. But before that, I'm going to cover you with my coat. Is that okay?", he asked, taking off his coat and putting it on the boy when he nodded.
He picked up the boy in his arms, biting his lips at the lightness of the boy's body weight and walked out.
That day, something changed for the better, and Taehyung’s life would never be the same again.
The gift that Taehyung had originally thought to present to Yoongi was changed. Instead, after taking the boy to his mansion where Yoongi and their doctor were waiting, Taehyung took his time to torture the leader of Lee Clan, as brutally as he possibly could. He didn't kill him, no, because in his head, that would be a too easy death.
No, he kept the leader alive just so that he could torture him again and again.
Not once did Taehyung stop to ask himself why he did it. And even if he asked, the truth was that he himself couldn't understand.
Something had shifted in Taehyung after finding the boy whose name he later found out was Jungkook.
Taehyung had all intentions to know what had changed. After all, Yoongi and Jungkook were under his protection now.
He had all the time in the world to understand this change.

Hey, my beautiful readers.
This is just a prompt for now. I wrote it about a week ago when I had a little time on my hands.
It's going to be very different from my other books because it's very dark themed.
There will be a lot of trigger warnings. This book had explicit mentions of abuse, trauma and violence. So read at your own risk once I start writing it. It's just a prompt for now though.
Let me know if you liked the prompt.
Borahae dear readers.
