That is literally the most counterproductive thing you can do.

It shows that you basically can't defend yourself on a platform of debate.

And it's especially bad if you get blocked right after they ask you a question.

Then you have to respond like this
"Because you blocked me on ___ I guess I'll respond here, and if you block me here, I will be forced to call you out publicly in a post." On one of their other social media accounts.
