26.

Yashvi sighed, breathing heavily as she sat beside Amrit and opened her lunch box.

"Wow. Your mother-in-law certainly loves you," Rishika commented, looking at the warm rajma chawal. Yashvi chuckled, nodding in agreement when her phone rang. A smile came over her lips as she looked at the caller ID.

"Hello," she happily said, holding her phone to her ear and smiling while listening to his chuckle.

"Have you had your lunch?" Advik asked from the other side. She could hear the voices of her brother-in-laws and Aashi, who worked in the same building as a top architect.

"I've just begun. What about you?" she asked, picking up a spoon.

"We are at the hotel across the street and having lunch here. If you can, please come," he requested. She looked at her wristwatch and then at the tiffin. It was only half-past one, and she had nearly half an hour to spare. Doing the calculations, she hummed in response.

"But Maa sent me Rajma-chawal," she whined with a pout.

"Bring it here then. The private dining room is booked under my name. Just tell them, and they will guide you. Come fast. I am waiting," he said and ended the call, making her exhale a deep breath and shake her head.

"Guys, I have some work. I will be back within half an hour."

"Then let us have your rajma-chawal," Amrit said, looking hungrily at the tiffin, making her laugh as she passed it towards them.

"But where?" Rishika asked, glancing at her curiously.

"Advik invited me for lunch," she said and left for her desk, picking up her handbag, and quickly departed.

"Perks of having a rich husband," Nandini taunted.

"Why don't you focus on yourself instead of her? Lately, you haven't been doing well. What if you get kicked out of her husband's company?" Rishika taunted, glaring at her hard. Twisting her mouth, Nandini went back to her lunch.

-----

Yashvi entered the private dining area and saw her husband and his siblings sitting there. The atmosphere was lively and fun.

"Bhabhi," Aashi said and immediately went to hug her. Yashvi smiled, reciprocating the hug, and went to sit beside her husband.

Advik smiled, his face lighting up as his hand immediately moved to her thighs, holding her hand tightly. She glared at him, but he ignored it and playing with her fingers.

"Who planned this?" Yashvi asked, holding her husband's hand, which was busy drawing circles over her knuckles.

"It was spontaneous," Adarsh replied with a smile, while Adya pouted.

"I need to use the washroom. Excuse me," Aashi said, standing up and leaving the place.

"Where is your rajma chawal? I didn't order food for you," Advik teased her. She gave him a mock look, and when she looked around, he leaned in and pecked her lips before sitting back, as if nothing happened.

She glared at him, her cheeks flushed, as she saw the waiter coming inside with their order. She immediately regretted coming here as soon as her eyes fell on the food. There were a variety of dishes, but none of them suited her taste palate. Advik chuckled, looking at the regret in her eyes, and held her hands tightly.

"Don't worry. I ordered mac and cheese and pizza for you," he said. She sighed in relief and looked at him thankfully.

A while later, Aashi came along with Janki.

"I found her having her lunch alone, so I asked her to join us," Aashi said, pulling Janki, who passed an awkward smile to everyone.

Yashvi's mood turned sour as soon as her eyes fell on Janki. It wasn't like Janki had done anything to her, but she hated the way Janki looked at Advik.

"Good afternoon, guys," Janki awkwardly said, sitting beside Advik, which was the only empty seat. Everyone smiled at her.

Yashvi's eyes narrowed as Janki took the seat next to Advik, her grip on Advik's hand tightening. She forced a smile and greeted Janki, but her voice carried a hint of coldness.

"Good afternoon, Janki," Yashvi replied, her tone lacking warmth. She shifted in her seat, feeling a surge of possessiveness towards her husband.

Advik quickly served Yashvi her food, and she clenched her jaws in frustration.

"What's wrong?" he softly asked, caressing her thighs. It had been four days since they consummated their marriage, and he seemed unable to keep his hands to himself.

She shook her head, picking up her fork and started eating her mac and cheese.

"Want to taste it?" he asked, indicating towards his vegetable Paella. She shook her head, indicating that she did not want to try it.

He then looked at Janki, who was awkwardly glancing at the couple.

"Janki, why don't you have some vegetable Paella? Isn't it your favorite?" he asked, smiling at her. She nodded, swooning at his dimples as he tried to serve her.

Yashvi's grip on the spoon tightened as she shoved it into her mouth. Adya gulped, observing her tense state. She was well aware of Janki's crush on her brother because it was quite evident. In fact, her parents had even initiated an alliance between Janki and Advik, which was rejected by Yashvi's mother, who had Yashvi in mind.

"Advik, I think Janki can serve herself. You should have your food too," Yashvi said through clenched teeth.

"It's fine, Advik. I can serve myself," Janki said, taking the spoon from him.

Advik glanced at Yashvi, disapproval clear in his eyes, but she chose to ignore it and focused back on her lunch.

"I want vegetable paella too." She whispered in her husband's ears who gave her a look before serving her some from his own plate. She hated the fact that the woman shared the taste bud with her husband.

As the conversation continued, Yashvi couldn't help but observe Janki's attempts to engage everyone in conversation. Janki's laughter echoed in the room, and Yashvi's irritation grew. For the first time, Yashvi hated her introverted nature that prevented her from starting conversations. She angrily clenched the spoon, eating the food her husband had served, and made a face as she found it slightly sweet, worsening her mood.

As lunch came to an end, Yashvi felt a surge of relief. She stood up, excusing herself from the table, and made her way towards the door.

Janki's legs faltered, and Advik immediately supported her, his arm wrapped around her back. Janki clutched on his coat, fearing that she would fall. Yashvi stopped abruptly, her eyes burning with rage as she pulled Janki away from Advik and dragged Advik away with her. Janki stood there, feeling humiliated. She had no wrong intentions, but she could clearly see the way Yashvi disliked her. She had a crush on Advik and was trying to overcome it. She gulped, picked up her handbag, and left.

"Why the hell did you have to bring her here?" Adarsh angrily asked Aashi, who frowned, not understanding anything.

"She has had a crush on Bhai for a long time. I even think her feelings run deeper than that," Adya explained softly.

"How did Yashvi find out?" Aashi asked, regretting bringing Janki along. It had hurt them both, Janki and Yashvi.

"It's quite evident. Only Bhai seems to be oblivious," Advait said, wiping his mouth with a napkin.

-----

"What was that behavior, Yashvi?" Advik angrily asked as he stood in front of the male restroom.

"Go inside and wash your hands, throw away that coat too," she angrily said, her knuckles turning white.

"Yashvi, I really didn't expect this from you. She is my best friend's sister, and I have known her since childhood. Why are you behaving like a possessive wife?" he said, his jaw clenched as he unbuttoned his coat.

"I swear, Advik, if the smell of her perfume coming from your coat doesn't stop, I will open it myself and throw it away. Right here," she furiously said. Advik sighed and went inside, well aware of the fact that she was completely capable of doing it, and discarded the coat, throwing it away and washing his hands before coming out.

"Let's go," he said, marching towards the exit. She rolled her eyes, following him.

"Are you going to control my life like this from now on?" he sarcastically asked, holding her hand as they waited for the signal to turn red. Yashvi looked at him, furiously yanking her hand away and crossed the road.

He rolled his eyes, following her. As they walked in silence, the tension between Yashvi and Advik was palpable. Yashvi's anger was simmering, and Advik's frustration was evident in his clenched fists.

"Quite a great friend you are. Even remembering your best friend's cousin's preference in food. Constantly laughing and saving her from falling," she taunted, stopping in front of her building.

"Yashvi, for God's sake, stop behaving childish. She is like an Aashi to me," he chimed in, angrily looking around.

"Certainly, she doesn't see you like that. Are you really that unaware or acting?" she asked, mock clear on her face.

"What do you mean?" he asked, pinching his nose to control his anger.

"That woman looks at you like only I am supposed to. Remember, Advik, you are mine, and I am not letting you go. From the strands of your hair to the toes of your feet, you are solely mine. I won't ever like someone eyeing what's mine. Doesn't matter who it is," she said through clenched teeth, the image of Janki in her husband's arms disturbing her. Advik sighed tiredly.

"Let's talk later; your lunch break is over. Go inside," he said and left towards the other building. She glared at his back before turning and heading inside.

-----

Yashvi sighed, rubbing her chest as she waited for Janki to arrive. After reflecting on her actions, she realized how she had wronged Janki. She hadn't been flirting or showing any interest in Advik, yet she had humiliated Janki without uttering a single word.

Janki arrived and awkwardly sat in front of Yashvi. Yashvi's eyes revealed the depth of her emotions and the turmoil within her.

"I'm sorry," Yashvi said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I had no right to hurt you or make you feel humiliated. I know you like Advik, and it's evident, but I also know that you are a woman with dignity and self-respect. I let my possessiveness get the best of me. I acted childishly. I'm truly sorry." Yashvi whispered, biting her lips nervously, while Janki looked at her in shock.

After a moment of realization, Janki gave Yashvi a warm smile and gently squeezed her hands. "I apologize too. It may have been partly my fault as well. I'm trying to move on from my crush on him, but don't worry, Yashvi, trust your husband. The way he looks at you clearly shows that you are the center of his world." Janki softly spoke, bringing a smile to Yashvi's face.

"I can see why he loves you so much. You didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately apologized as soon as you realized your mistake. It takes courage to acknowledge your wrongdoing and apologize. It's completely fine. I also thought about it, and if I were in your place, I might have reacted the same way." Janki declared, thanking the waiter who served them coffee.

"I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable. I'm outgoing and extroverted. I even tried to engage you in conversation, but you didn't reciprocate much. I am not a homewrecker, and your husband is not someone who would entertain another woman. So, friends?" Janki asked, extending her hand for a handshake.

Yashvi chuckled, nodding and shaking her hand. As she let go of her preconceived notions, she realized how warm and lovely Janki truly was. Janki didn't sugarcoat her words; she was straightforward, yet emitted a certain warmth.

"The bill is on me," Yashvi offered when she saw the waiter approaching them. Janki nodded with a chuckle, laughing at something Yashvi said afterward.

-----

Yashvi sat beside Yashodara and Sandhya, who were engrossed in a conversation about an NGO. Her eyes darted between the entrance and her watch, growing impatient. She had arrived a while ago and changed before coming downstairs.

After a while, all the men, including Padmakshi, arrived. Advik greeted everyone with a smile and headed straight to his room. Yashvi bit her lips anxiously and followed him immediately.

"Advik, I'm sorry," she whispered, watching him unbutton his shirt and toss it into the laundry basket.

"Smell the shirt. If it smells like Janki's perfume, throw it away," he taunted, undoing his pants and heading into the bathroom.

Yashvi sighed, her eyes welling up with tears. This man held an incredible power over her, and he wasn't even aware of it.

She returned to the room, sitting on the bed as she wiped away her tears forcefully. Ten minutes later, Advik emerged dressed in a cream-colored t-shirt and black trousers. He glanced at her, then picked up his phone and walked towards the door.

"I apologized to Janki," she whispered softly, knowing she had disappointed him with her behavior.

"Do you trust me?" he asked, turning towards her before walking a short distance and pulling out a bean bag to sit in front of her.

She nodded vigorously. He sighed softly, taking her hands in his.

"I wasn't aware that Janki liked me. You've been the only woman in my life, Yashvi, and you will continue to be the only woman in my life. Jealousy doesn't mean you don't trust me, I know that. I understand your possessiveness, but I didn't like the way you behaved. In a sea of people, my eyes are always fixed on you. I love you, Yashvi. You are my home. Please, just trust me," he said softly, kissing her knuckles.

"I trust you. I hate seeing you close to any woman who isn't me. It burns my heart. You are only mine, Advik, exclusively mine. Just as I am yours," she pouted, making him chuckle as he nodded and whispered, "Just yours."

"I promise I'll control the possessiveness inside me. I will still feel jealous, I won't deny that, but I will control it. We are meant to share a life together, and I never want to control you," she said, referring to their previous argument.

"I know. I was angry, but I swear I didn't mean it," he said softly, causing her to nod. He sat beside her, pulling her into a hug and kissing her forehead. She smiled, snuggling closer to him, seeking warmth as he gently caressed her back.

-----

Two and a half months passed in a blur. Advik and Yashvi finally took some time out from their busy schedules and went on a ten-day trip to Seychelles. From there, they flew to Costa Rica. These two and a half months had brought them even closer. Yashvi had realized that Advik was not only a great singer and guitarist but also how the expectations of society and family had turned him into a workaholic person. She also noticed his preference for subtle-colored casuals and dark-colored formals, as well as his dislike for attending parties. Furthermore, she discovered his extreme clinginess and romantic nature. She learned about his high sex drive and possessiveness, as well as his tendency to stare at her. Yashvi also observed that he struggled with receiving compliments but cared deeply for everyone, without expecting anything in return.

On the other hand, Advik had realized that Yashvi was an introvert but not shy. In fact, she could talk about anything and everything if she was with her comfort person. He discovered her love for spending free time with Adya, Advait, and Adarsh. He also learned about her boldness in bed and her lack of shyness. Yashvi's weekly conversations with her best friend Zivah and her enjoyment of cooking his favorite food were other aspects he discovered. Additionally, he found out about her dislike for wearing jewelry, her preference for keeping her hair open, and her love for dressing up.

Their mornings still began with a cup of tea together, followed by Advik giving Yashvi flowers. The day would end with a cup of chamomile tea and milk by the pool. They had fallen even more deeply in love with each other. Their lives did not solely revolve around each other; they still loved their families the same, but they had carved out a special place for each other in their hearts. Disagreements were inevitable, but they knew that their love surpassed everything. Their love, understanding, trust, and loyalty towards each other were unwavering and beautiful.

I had seen how books will make the other woman evil just because she likes the male lead. Somehow wanted to change the equation here. The book is coming towards its end. Thanks for all the love.

Thankyou<3
