18.

Advik gently opened his eyes and yawned, feeling her hands against his body. Turning the night lamp on, he turned towards her, kissing her forehead lightly. She was sleeping peacefully in a fetal position, her arms holding onto his t-shirt, her hair falling on her face. He turned to see the time and his eyes widened, realizing it was seven in the morning.

He gently patted her cheeks, trying to wake her up, but she swatted them away and turned onto her stomach. He sighed with a chuckle and went to the balcony door, drawing back the thick curtains to let the sunlight enter the room. He looked at her again and went to the bathroom, deciding to wake her up later.

Coming out of the bathroom, he decided to ditch his morning jog and went to the closet. He first selected his clothes. Then, he went to her side of the closet and started rummaging through her clothes. His eyes landed on a red saree. It was light and pretty, perfect for a temple visit. He pulled it out excitedly and kept it aside, walking back to the bedroom.

She was still sleeping, with her right leg dangling off the bed. He chuckled and went to the bed, sitting by her side as he stroked her hair lovingly.

"Yashvi, wake up. It's half-past seven," he said, making her yawn softly as she turned her face toward him, giving him a lazy smile as she opened her eyes, which made him swoon. The orange sunlight was peeping into the room and falling onto her face, enhancing her brown eyes beautifully.

"It's your day off," she mumbled, stretching her arms and looking around. Her eyes fell on the frame her sister-in-law had made, making her smile.

"I know, but I've planned something for us. Go and take a quick shower," he said, standing up and fetching her slippers. She lazily yawned, snuggling into his pillow, inhaling his scent. He returned with her slippers in his hand and helped her put them on, a constant smile on his lips.

"I'll go and come back with some tea," he said, preparing to leave. However, he stopped when she held his wrist.

"I don't want tea today. It's already late. I'll take a quick shower and get ready," she replied, getting up and heading toward the bathroom.

"I've already laid out your clothes. You can wear them. I'll take a shower in Adarsh's room," he said, quickly kissing her on the cheek before going into the closet to retrieve his own clothes. With that, he hastily left the room.

After taking a shower, Yashvi came inside the closet in a bathrobe. She picked up the saree he selected with a shy smile and pulled a red underskirt and the blouse. She frowned looking at the blouse as it has a deep cleavage.

As she reached for the stool, the room door opened, indicating his arrival. She turned and smiled at him. He was dressed in a simple full-sleeve polo t-shirt and ivory pants. With a cheeky smile, he came towards her and back-hugged her tightly, his hands resting on her abdomen as he rubbed his clean-shaven cheeks against hers, making her close her eyes.

As she reached for the stool, the room door opened, indicating his arrival. She turned and smiled at him. He was dressed in a simple full-sleeve polo t-shirt and ivory pants. With a cheeky smile, he came towards her and back-hugged her tightly, his palms resting on her abdomen as he rubbed his clean-shaven cheeks against hers, making her close her eyes.

"Why did you shave?" she asked as she glanced at him through the mirror. He held her gaze and left a loud peck on her right cheek, then whispered in her ear, "You have difficulty kissing me." He followed this with another peck on her earlobe, making her smile as she gently rubbed his cheeks. She had actually experienced some light beard burns from his previous stubble, although they weren't very painful or evident.

She held his right cheek, kissing lightly over his left jaw which made him smile. She gently pulled away from him and bent to drag the vanity stool out and sat onto it. He looked at her as she retrieved few glittery silver bangles.

"Main pehna doon?"he asked, glancing at her through the mirror, and she nodded at him, her eyes filled with love.(Can I help you put these on?)

Taking the bangles, he sat on the floor and kept them beside him. One by one, he carefully slid them onto her wrists, peppering her wrists with kisses, making her shiver. She ran her tongue over her lips, her mouth dry from the intensity of his gaze.

She continued to gaze at him as he fastened her bangles, jhumkis, nuptial chain, and vermilion. Her reverence for him shone in her eyes.

"I can do your hair and makeup as well if you want to keep looking at me," he teased, breaking her reverie and causing her to blush.

After applying some moisturizer and sunscreen, she quickly put on a small red bindi and lined her eyes with kohl. He was captivated by the way these simple gestures enhanced her beauty.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked while applying sunscreen body lotion to her hands.

"Like what?" he inquired, his eyes sparkling with a smile as he got up and applied a face cream to his face, palms, and neck. His eyes remained fixed on her as she applied a rosewood lipstick to her lips. She fell silent; she had no answer for that look.

He smiled, bending down and locking eyes with her reflection as he rested his chin on her shoulder.

"The look in my eyes says that I see my entire life in you," he said as he sprayed on some perfume. Her heart raced at the thought of growing old with him, and her lips curved into a small smile.

"Could you give me my perfume, too? It's on the upper shelf," she asked, indicating the second shelf, as she took her hairbrush and quickly parted her hair in the middle, twisting it and securing both sides behind her. He placed her perfume on the dressing table and handed her the kohl.

"Are you applying some too?" she asked with a chuckle, taking a few more hairpins to secure her hairstyle. He smiled, opened the kohl, applied it to his index finger, and then returned it.

"I'm ready," she announced with a smile, standing up and turning towards him, allowing him time to admire her. He nodded in appreciation and gently rubbed his index finger behind her ears, taking her by surprise.

"What are you doing?" she asked with bated breath, watching him closely. He bent his tall frame slightly to properly apply the kohl behind her ear. Once satisfied, he pulled back, wiped the kohl from his hand, and cupped her cheeks, planting a loving kiss on her forehead.

"Maa kehti hai isse nazar nahi lagti," he whispered, embracing her. Her eyes welled up with emotion, as he was the second person in her life to do something like this. She hid her face in his chest, blinking away tears to prevent them from falling, knowing he would be concerned all day if he saw her cry.(Maa says that this wards off the evil eye.)

Advik parked the car and watched as his wife looked around with a happy expression. He quickly got out of the car and walked to her side as she stepped out. She adjusted her saree and then glanced at him, seeing his hand extended for her to hold.

Yashvi shook her head and grabbed his hand firmly as they made their way to a small shop to purchase the materials they needed.

"Do you have small bills?" Advik asked in a hushed tone after checking his wallet, to which she shook her head in disbelief. She then reached into his pocket and paid the shopkeeper online, as she hadn't brought her handbag along with her.

"You should carry small bills, Advik," Yashvi chided in a hushed tone. She then pulled the end of her saree, using it to cover her head. Advik followed suit, placing his white handkerchief on his head. They had left their footwear in the car, as Yashvi feared losing them. In the past, she'd lost her footwear, and her mother had made her walk home barefoot, a memory that amused Advik.

After their prayers, the priest applied tilak on Advik while Yashvi applied herself.

Then the priest asked Advik to apply vermilion in Yashvi's hair parting, which he did with a smile, inadvertently smearing some on her nose.

"Mat hatao beta. Subh hota hain." an elderly woman said, offering the couple a warm smile. Advik nodded, leaving the vermilion on Yashvi's nose. He looked at her, finding her absolutely radiant and stunning. (Don't wipe it off, dear. It's considered auspicious.)

Taking the offerings, they both left the temple hand in hand.

-----

"I'm hungry," Yashvi said as she sat in the passenger seat. They had left home early to visit the temple and hadn't had breakfast.

"What would you like to eat?" Advik asked as he fastened his seatbelt and glanced at her.

"I know a place. Let's go there," she said, wiping her feet with a cleansing wipe and placing them on the seat, which made him smile. She entered the location of the place into the car's navigation system, and they both buckled up. Advik followed the directions on the map until they arrived at a roadside eatery, Amar dhaba.

"Where should I park the car?" Advik asked, looking around with a puzzled expression. Yashvi chuckled and directed him to drive a bit further.

"Radhe Krishna, kaka. Two cups of masala chai and two aloo tikki, please," Yashvi said, walking up to the counter and greeting the old man sitting there. The elderly man studied her for a moment and then, his eyes lit up with recognition, followed by a broad smile.

"Yashvi, my dear, Darsh was telling us you got married. Is this your husband?" he asked, pointing towards Advik. Yashvi nodded, and the man offered his blessings. He then instructed one of the workers to find them a table while their order was prepared.

They settled on a bench, and Advik gazed around, taking in the vibrant surroundings. The place was alive with the sounds of laughter, children playing, and people calling out for their food orders. It was as if he had entered an entirely different world.

"What are you looking at?" Yashvi asked, resting her hand on his arm as she placed their food order for paneer masala, rumali roti, rasmalai, and a bottle of mineral water.

"It feels like I've stepped into a whole different world, Yashvi. I've never really been to a place like this. It's different, yet so beautiful," he remarked, holding her hand. She offered a gentle smile and intertwined their fingers.

"You let me experience your world, and I'll show you mine. Somewhere in between, we'll create our own world," she said, gazing into his deep, black eyes.

She took a sip of her tea, her eyes crinkling with joy at the familiar taste, and then gestured for him to try it. As soon as he tasted it, his eyebrows raised appreciatively. She gave him a look, as if to say that the place was her choice, making him laugh.

"You know, Advik, taste and the atmosphere in these roadside dhabas and small restaurants are something else. I know my husband owns many restaurants, but just look around. Everyone here is carefree and happy. There's no showing off who's rich or who's poor. They're all enjoying their food," she said with a smile, sipping her tea and savoring her aloo tikki, while taking in the ambiance.

"You're absolutely right," Advik replied, nodding as he took another sip of tea. "There's a simplicity and authenticity to this place that's really refreshing. I can see why you enjoy it." He genuinely appreciated her perspective and the chance to experience something different from his usual high-end lifestyle.

"Whenever Mumma was running late, she'd give me some money, and Darsh and I would come here to eat aloo poori before heading to school. The uncle used to give us an extra poori too," she said with a chuckle, reminiscing about her childhood, and he listened in silence.

"In college, my first year wasn't too great, so Zivaah, Vansh, and Jai would drag us here to try and improve my mood," she added, recalling her school friends, who were now in different places. Zivaah and Jai had attended their wedding, but Vansh couldn't make it.

Their food arrived, and Advik enjoyed it. Yashvi watched him, realizing that he had specific preferences when it came to food. In the two months they'd been together, she'd learned that he preferred home-cooked meals or high class restaurant meals. Yet here he was, enjoying the kind of food she had grown up with, as if he were making her world his own.

-----

Advik stopped the car at a traffic signal when his eyes fell on a small girl selling flowers. He immediately rolled down his window and bought all the flowers. Yashvi kept looking at him, stunned. He didn't hesitate before ruffling the little girl's hair and gave her a few notes of five hundred.

"Bhaiya, yeh bohot jyada hain," the little girl said, her blue eyes wide, while Yashvi glanced at the girl, mesmerized. (It is too much.)

"Aapki mehnat ki kamaai hain bacche, rakh lo," Yashvi spoke softly, leaning forward slightly and smiled at the girl, who gave the flowers to Advik. (It's the earnings of your hard work, keep it, child.)

"Wait," Advik called and immediately opened the dashboard, taking out some snacks and a bottle of water, which he handed to the girl. At first, she hesitated, but then accepted the food and drink.

"What are you thinking?" Yashvi asked, prompting Advik to drive as she saw him typing something on his phone and then putting it aside.

"Nothing." He said with a smile and picked up the flowers on his lap, forwarding it to his flower.

"Flowers for my woman," he said with a smile, his dimples visible, which made her swoon. She took the flowers and inhaled their fragrance before giving him a huge smile as he drove off.

-----

Advik looked at Yashvi, who had fallen asleep in the car, and gently nudged her. She opened her eyes in surprise and looked at him, giving a sheepish smile. He shook his head with a smile as he parked the car.

"Why are we here?" Yashvi asked, yawning lightly as she stretched her hands coming out of the car.

"We need to purchase a few grocery items," Advik said, holding her hand as he led her inside.

"But organic vegetables and fruits get delivered directly from the farm to our house," Yashvi said with a frown as she picked up a big box of chocolates, receiving a look of disbelief from Advik.

"We are going to our farmhouse," he explained, picking up some items and tossing them in the cart. He looked at his wife, who had gone to the other side where all the junk items were present, and sighed as he followed her.

"That is unhealthy," he commented as he watched her pick a packet of noodles, pasta, and some sauces. She gave him a glare that made him quickly shut his mouth. Everyone fears their wife, he was no exception.

She picked up some candies, snacks, and cold drinks. He sighed, knowing she wouldn't listen to him, and went to pick up some sanitary napkins and self-heating pads.

"Done?" he asked, to which she nodded, smiling cheekily. He started walking towards the payment counter. She stopped after a few seconds, letting him go, and went to the drink counter. Picking up some fruit jellies, a cold coffee can, and some lemon-lime soda, she returned to the counter. Her husband gave her a look, which she ignored, and started looking around the store.

"You want something else?" he asked, and she shook her head. He blinked, holding her hand and with his other hand, he carried the bag as they walked back to the car.
