The Babysitter's Club
I believe that this is what some would call a filler chapter... just excess description. Idk.
...
The bus finally stops outside the hotel, but while everybody takes off the bus and crowds outside, I remain where I am, as I'm trying not to cry about losing my damn phone; that and I'm trying not to face any reality that might be revealed.
"Like the reality of you having your first wet dream?" My annoying inner voice asks.
"No." I simply reply.
"Sorry. The reality of you having a wet, kind of sexy, vivid, lucid dream about April?"
"No, I get it. The reality is that you are in love with--"
"NO!" I deny. "No it's not true! I don't care WHAT was said in my dream. I'm not in love with ANYBODY. End of discussion."
I mentally sigh to myself. I couldn't be. I wouldn't be! Maybe I just need some dick to rid myself of these weird, foolish thoughts. I mean, it's been a what, 6 month drought since I last had sex? Oh hell, I'm gonna die.
I see that everybody is moving off the bus, so I have to get off, too. I grab everything I brought on and I start to walk off, feeling everything shifting back and forth from the waist down. It's uncomfortable-ish, but I'll just have to manage.
I walk off the bus and quickly grab my bags off the sidewalk and head inside, where I grab my key card and head up to my room.
This room is a little big for just one person to be staying in. I walk in three room more from the doorway and see that there's not one, but two beds. And one of them already had luggage and bags on it. Oh, what the hell?
Suddenly, a walking redheaded headache makes her presence known as she walks out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel and is almost in front of me. She's my roommate? You're kidding me.
"You're my roommate?" Eva asks, but it sounds more like a comment than a question. She then scoffs at my lack of a response and heads over to her bed. This is going to be a tough week or so.
I take my stuff and head over to the free bed near the window. I look around the room-- it's very nice-- and take it in; Eva took the damn closet for herself from what I see, but I pack light so that's okay, I guess; the TV is positioned right in the middle of the couch in the middle of us, but it kinda favors me; I'm closer to the kitchen but Eva is closer to the bathroom-- definitely okay with that because I'm married to the kitchen, honestly.
Normally this is the part where I take my phone and plug it up, but I'm lacking a freaking phone, and I just took a long ass nap on the bus. So, I just jump right on the sofa and start flipping through channels to pass time.
I find one-- this show called "Catfish". It's so amazing to watch, especially when I have downtime. Right now, it's the episode where Jose, a former catfish, believes he's getting catfished. I already watched it, but it's nice to--
"Could you please turn it down? It's annoying." I hear Eva say. I roll my eyes but turn it down, like, one notch, because what do I look like letting her think I was going to comply?
About an hour later, I'm smacking on stuff from the fridge while watching TV, with Eva in the background talking obnoxiously on the phone. I could give 3 shits though; my family was worse, so I've learned to tune out what I don't wanna hear.
I run out of popcorn, so I'm gonna pop some more, just to be interrupted by a knock on the door. I look at Eva who still has her headphones in while talking. I roll my eyes and set the bowl down on the couch and walk over to the door.
I open it to reveal Victoria, who doesn't look quite happy. "Why haven't you been picking up my calls? Or texts? You had me worried!" She bursts in the room and I can't help but chuckle.
"I lost my phone on the bus. I'm so sorry, mother, " I give her a heartfelt hug. "I'll make sure to send a carrier pigeon to you next time I'll be late for dinner." I reply with a not-so-innocent smile.
She rolls her eyes but smiles too. "It's a good thing Eva told me. But didn't she tell you I was coming over?" It was then that Eva yelled "Alicia is supposed to be coming over to get you!"
"Get me?" I ask. I hope she's not planning on taking me out.
"I'm taking out you out with me tonight. I'm not having it." She stands her ground.
I sigh, I'm a punk. "Let me get my bag." I walk away defeatedly to fetch my bag.
****
"Where are we going?" I ask as we head to the elevator.
"A dive bar not far from here." she replies.
"Look, Foxy, I really didn't feel like going out tonight. Especially this late. Although it does beat being with Eva." I roll my eyes.
"I know you didn't. I could see it on your face when I got there," she pats my shoulder as we step in the elevator. "I just think a night out with the girls is what you need." She slightly smiles.
"Your intentions are good, and I appreciate that, but those girl don't like me all that much. Why force me onto them?"
"They don't know you like I know you." Well, she doesn't know me that well either, but I won't tell her that.
"I really think they'll get over this hump about you if they take time to get to know you. But you have to allow them." She finishes and we step off. She could be right.
*time skip*
After about 10 minutes of walking, Vick takes a turn into the bar, where I immediately see some of the girls: Trinity, the twins, Natalya, Ariane, and Jojo. Oh wow, it's a party.
We walk over to them and as Vicky greets everyone, I just sit down awkwardly and smile.
"Ok," Vicky says as she sits down next to me." What's on the menu?"
"SHOTSSSS!" Nicole, one of the twins, yells as the other girls hoot as well. I do, too, because I definitely need a drink. A lot of them.
Not even 4 seconds later, the bartender comes over with a round of shots and the girls holler. There were enough for each girl to get two, except for me, of course. Surprisingly, Trinity, who I'm sitting next to, gives me one of hers with a smile. "We didn't know you were coming. Take mine."
"Aw, thanks, Trin." I beam. I take it down as fast as I got it.
This is the beginning of a long night.
*time skip*
It's 4 in the morning, and we're being kicked out because of closing time. I'm bummed, because I was having a good time, weirdly enough. I've only had 2 shots and a beer, and I feel fine. I made sure to keep my drinking limit low; don't wanna repeat of 2 nights ago.
Some of the girls, on the other hand, looks wrecked. The only ones that aren't passed out are Trinity, Ariane, and I. I can't help but laugh.
"How did we get stuck on cleanup duty." I ask.
"We were smart enough to say 'no more'." Ariane laughs.
"Ok so, how are we getting back?" Trinity asks. I sigh, as I don't think nobody's up but our dumbasses.
"I'll get Foxy and Jojo." I claim. They are easiest to lift. Trinity immediately calls, "I got Nattie." That leaves Ariane to have the Bellas.
All 3 of us tiredly get up and start to shake the girls. I grab Foxy's face and lightly slap it until her eyes open. Same with Jojo.
It's a little time, but we manage to get them up and walking. It takes double time to get back to the hotel, but we get there.
Once we get there, we sit them in the lobby chairs as we catch our breaths. Dragging two girls, no matter what their physique is, is a lot of work.
"I'm so tired I can't even think about sitting down." Ariane drags out. Trinity agrees, saying next time we'll leave them for the bar to deal with.
It's then a thought pops into my head. I'm not tired at all, and I definitely don't want to go to my room yet, especially with no phone to distract me. "Go. Get some sleep. I can take them to their rooms."
They look at each other skeptically. "You sure, girl?" Ariane asks.
"I promise it's not trouble. I'd just rather not go to my own room." Next thing I know I'm being attacked with hugs by them both. They drown me in thank yous while suffocating me.
Once they let go, they smile and Trinity says, "Well I'm taking Nattie, she's my roomie, so." "Yeah and I got Jojo." Ariane adds. I just nod and smile.
The grabbers grab their... grabees and start walking away. I look back at the three girls and sigh. I guess I'll call somebody to come help--
Oh wait...
No goddamn phone. This is gonna be a workout.
I start with the twins. I search Nicole for her key card to see which room she's in. I find it in her purse, room 320. Damn, that's all the way on the 3rd floor. I put her key back for now and look in Brianna's purse, only to find an identical card. Victoria's last, in her bag, I find the card-- room 118. Yay that's two trips, but... that's two trips. How am I gonna do this?
I lightly smack Brie and Nikki, who are lightly snoring.
"Come on, dolls. Who can walk right now?" I ask. "Doesn't have to be a straight line walk, but need to function on your own." That was stupid of me to ask; they're not awake and they refuse to wake up. Shit.
A thought pops into my brain, and I know it's risky, but it'll have to do right now. I jog over to the front desk, and nobody is there, but there are a bunch of keys. Set to the side are janitorial closet keys. I take them and go grab Foxy and go to the janitor's closet and open it.
"Last chance, Foxy, can you walk?" She actually nods her head...no.
'I guess you're staying here for a while.' I think. I never said this was a good plan.
I gently sit her on the floor and put my jacket behind her head so she'll have something to lay on. I close the door and lock it and hurry over to the other two.
I grab Brie up first by her wait and pull her close to me, then I do Nikki the same, and i lock my hands so it's like I'm bear hugging them. I hurry them as fast as I can to the elevators.
Once I get to their room, I take Nikki's key out and open their door. I go in and drop them on their beds, taking their shoes off. I keep Nikki's card, as I plan on coming back, and I rush back down to Vick.
I move quickly as I unlock the closet, grab her, and put the keys back. 'Thank you, poor management.'
We head up to her room and I sit her on the bed. Finally, I have time to catch my breath! All of this carrying and running back and forth. I'm surprised I didn't pass out.
As soon as I catch my second wind, I take her shoes off. I then rifle through her bag to find makeup wipes, and wash her face away. Finally, I grab a cup from the kitchen and fill it with water and place it next to the lamp on the table, if she has aspirins in her bag, she can get them.
I put the covers over her and place a trashcan next to her bed before placing her key on the table and leaving.
I repeat the actions with the Bellas, and in less than 20 minutes, I'm back at my own room.
And that's how I spent my night. Looking after others instead of facing my problems.
