Gale was sat with Alex on his couch as she shovelled ice cream into her mouth with a spoon, mascara running down her face. Sobs made her body shake as she leaned into the male. He wanted to help Alex. His friend, his confidant and his crush for almost his entire life. But he didn't know how, none of the history books talked about things like this. They tried to hide the books on emotions.

"Sunshine?" Gale asked, using his own nickname, inspired by the fact that she's, usually, a ball of sunshine. To him, at least. "Can you tell me what happened?"

"P-phoenix..." Alex stuttered out, still shaking in Gale's side-embrace. "He-he broke up with me..."

Gale was immediately flooded with anger. "Phoenix broke up with you? A week after graduation?! How dare he!" the male growled, leaping up from the couch. "Once i get my hands on him I'll-"

"Gale!" Alex yelled "We've been on and off for years, you know that! He just said we'd be better off as friends, especially since were all going off to college soon!"

"But that is no excuse to break your heart and get away with it!"

"Gale Liam Alexander Greywalker, you listen to me!" Alex got to her feet anger rising in her as her body trembled more so now. But rather in anger than anything else, "We are adults, adults handle their own matters. Rather than trying to live my life for me go live your own! I'm leaving tomorrow morning to pursue my own career and life choices." She became sudden quiet as she grabbed her coat and pulled her hat on. She stopped at the front door, her hand resting on the handle for a moment. Her soft voice echoed back to her life long friend.

"Have a nice life Gale..." she whispered softly before she left the apartment forever.

I can't lose her.

Even though he was distraught that morning after their fight Gale was a mess as he rushed to the airport in his Disney Mulan pants and his pokemon shirt. His eyes red and swollen as he raced against time, using Alex's motorcycle. A gift she had given him on his birthday as she wouldn't need it across the country and it was to expensive to ship. Memories flooded his mind of them both on the highway, him absolutely terrified and clinging onto the blonde for dear life while the latter was laughing. Her voice joyous and happy to be there and live her life. Luckily those were the days when it was to cold to roll down peoples windows and nobody cared about one another. So nobody looked over at them.

Gale had barely made it to the airport in time as he rushed into the building he stopped, so many blondes, so many lanes. Which to take?! He didn't know. But he did spot Alex's father walking towards terminal B. His body went into hyperdrive as he raced to the closing gate. The big windows showed the plane and he could see Alex through one of the windows.

When he reached the gate his throat closed and his heart sank, it was closed and the plane was being pulled towards the runway. He fell to his knees as all hope left his body in that fleeting moment, his gaze only moved up as he saw the plane taking off into the sky. Tears stinging his eyes he whispered, "No..."
