Chapter 20: Till death do us part

Tia's POV

Cisco glares at me, before sighing. "I suppose so" he says glumly. He glances over his shoulder to the bacca who is staring back at him, waiting patiently. "Come, Jerome. It is time to go to Mexxy." he orders. Jerome scowls before rising from his golden throne and following him. I stride after him. It was time.

Opening the doors of the castle, I am greeted once more by our little group. "What now?" Mitch asks quickly. "It's time to go get Ridge back" I smile, only turning to glare at Cisco.

Cisco sighs, then snaps his fingers. A demigod who I know all too well pops up in front of us.

"Hey Kupo" I say. She smiles at me, nodding. We had only met on a few occasions, and we weren't exactly friends. More like...acquaintances.

"Kupo, be a dear and teleport us all to Voxeltopia, please?" Cisco smiles. I realize the two of them are going out-awkward. Kupo was incredibly beautiful, with long, flowing jet black hair, kind blue eyes, and it all went nicely with her white leather jacket with ruffled sleeves, a pristine white blouse, and black tight leggings. She was the kind of girl Cisco would go after and I can see him gazing at her adoringly.

"Yes sir" she says quietly, glancing around at the waiting party before clicking her fingers and there is a flash of white.

When it fades, I see we are in a beautifully designed room, which, judging from the over used black and white theme, was Kupo's quarters. It was beautifully designed, and I remembered Ridgedog telling me he had been good friends with Kupo in the past as he had been the one who recognized her building potential.

"Follow me if you will" Cisco says, and we begin to follow him down the maze of corridors, each one incredibly designed. "This place is amazing" Duncan whispers. Cisco turns round to beam at him. "I know! Many talented builders come here to build these, and if this was any other type of meeting, I would be delighted to give you a tour, but..." Cisco turns his gaze to me, as if blaming me. "We have other things to attend to" he finishes before continuing walking.

"The Voxelbox began thousands of years ago when a demigod who no one knows where he came from, descended onto the Earth. He twisted it for himself, until he fell in love with a girl, whom he managed to turn into a demigod also so she could stay alive forever. And so they continued on the line, having children and recruiting more demigods. Soon, most of the demigods became friends, but some became enemies. A monarchy was put in place-Voxeltopia. And so began centuries of ruling, with different kings on the throne."

Cisco was explaining the VoxelBox history, but I really didn't care at this point in time.

"I really don't care, can we just go to Mexxy?" I snap. Cisco sighs a heavy sigh. "Impatient, aren't you? Fine. We're here now anyways." he says, opening the grand quartz doors to reveal the grand hall.

The last time I had been here, I had attacked demigods and killed quart gods, and stabbed their king. The time before that was to revive Ridge from the dead. This was not a place of good memories for me, and I swallow loudly.

The hall was beautiful, of course. I would of noticed it immediately if I had had time to, but I had been too busy on both occassions to pay too much notice to the grand and majestic design to this place. I could still note some of Ridgedog's favourite building patterns, such as the chandelier, and some of the windows. I grit my teeth, looking away from it all. Soon, I would be reunited with him. But for now, it was time to meet the devil.

He was sat lazily on the throne, his royal blue coat standing out against all the gold and the reds. His crown perched high on his head and his reptilian green eyes met mine. Those eyes...they gave me chills. To think this was my father...it was so hard to take in. His legs were crossed over each other and he unfolds them when he sees me, and he begins to lean forward intently, waiting patiently as we advance towards him.

We had walked into the spider's trap.

"Ah, hello" Mexxy greets us from his throne, a smirk on his lips. "Welcome, visiters, to Voxeltopia, the city of immortals" he smiles, holding his arms out as if he were asking for us to hug him. "We all know where we are" I snap. He smiles at me, not losing his patience.

"Where are the rest of your guests?" he muses, looking around the room as if they were invisible. "Are you trying to ambush us? Sneak in and destroy us all? Because, my dear, I'm afraid that is not possible..." he smirks. "They are somewhere safe" I say confidently. He tilts his head. "Is that so? In a...secret location?" he half smiles, waiting for my answer. I hesitate, before nodding, then opening my mouth. "But I'm guessing you probably know where it is" I sigh.

He smiles, practically beaming down at me. "Ah, you learn quickly, my dear. There's no such thing as secrecy, I OWN secrecy. I AM secrecy." he boasts, hovering from his throne. "There are no secrets where I am involved. You have all been trying to trick me right to this very moment. But I can read you like a picture book. Except you" he says, pointing to me, and I stiffen.

"You, my dear, my daughter, you are an unpredictable force that cannot be forseen. You change your mind frequently, and though you seem reckless to others, I see right through that, at least. Because we're just alike, you and I. Except you're on the side of the angels" he smirks, gesturing to the group behind me.

"It's time for that to change, isn't it?" he muses, flashing me a knowing smile.

"Tia?" Sky's voice whispers from behind me. I don't turn, even as Mexxy begins to float towards me. "Tia, what's he talking about?" Deadlox asks. I so badly wanted to say I didn't know, that he had gone crazy.

"Join me, daughter. I have considered your request, and have agreed to it. Come" he beckons to me.

This was it.

Stepping forward, I felt numb. I couldn't feel anything. There was no sound from anyone as I walked towards him slowly. When I was a metre in front of him, he floated the rest of the way, gently patting me on the shoulder. I don't do anything, just turn and look down.

It was like another flashback from when I was Ridgedog's apprentice. Me, stood in the rain and the wind of the storm as Ridgedog revealed to Duncan that I was his apprentice. Watching the realisation dawn on his face and the confusion, and the hurt, and the anger of my betrayal.

Looking at my friends and my brother, that same expression is mirrored on their faces. And it hit me harder than a ton of rocks.

But still, I kept my face composed. I would not give in. I would not crack. This was something I had decided, and it was time to reveal it.

"You see, my good friends, Tia and I had a little chat a while ago" Mexxy begins, putting his arm on my shoulder. My first reaction was to shrug it off, but I'm frozen to the spot. Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all. "We struck a deal. She would become my apprentice, if I let the captured go and agreed not to harm any of you, including the Yogscast family and the Team Crafted members."

"Tia? Why didn't you..." Liam starts, his face bewildered and confused more than angry. "It was the only solution to the problem" I sigh, defeated.

"This has been an incredibly good game of chess. I could take my time, removing you one by one like I began, or go to the quickest and easiest method which Tia suggested. I already took the king, and now I have the queen" he smiles, looking at me with suprisingly soft eyes, which only freaks me out even more.

"But you are releasing the king" I say quietly. "Yes. Ridgedog will be freed, of course, and I will not interfere" he agrees. "When will this happen?" I ask, getting impatient. I didn't care about anything else now, I just wanted to see Ridgedog. Now.

"Oh, soon. I just want to explain some...conditions I have to offer" he smiles, and I stiffen. "You didn't mention anything about conditions" I say, narrowing my eyes. "Oh, only a few my dear" he smiles, waving the accusation away. "Tia...why? Did Deamon know?" Mitch breaks the silence. I shake my head. "No. I wasn't aloud to tell any of you" I say sadly, looking down.

"Ah, love. The mortal's weakness. I was foolish enough to be in that trap too many times. Once you are out of it, you view the world in such a different way" Mexxy sighs, his eyes glazed over as he thought about distant memories. "A stupid pointless way" I mutter. He snaps his gaze to mine, suddenly grinning. "Oh, I wouldn't say that. When you have no one to protect but yourself, you gain a knowledge that is far greater than any experience love can give you" he snorts.

"What, a knowledge of how to torture people, and drive them to insanity?" I challenge. He smiles at me-he was doing an awful lot of smiling today, and it didn't feel right. Almost creepy. "Oh, that's just the tip of the iceberg. I can teach you so much, Tia. Oh, I think I'm going to enjoy this...agreement very much" he smirks. "I'm aloud to visit them every day, that is my other condition" I say, gritting my teeth.

"You may sleep at your own house, and wake up there, and one day a week is all you have off. I only need you for about 6 hours a day. That should be sufficient enough, yes?" he confirms. I nod, looking away. That wasn't so bad. I couldn't put up with Mexxy for more than 10 seconds, but I guess I could learn to deal with him for for 6 hours.

"Can I see Ridgedog now?" I ask eagerly. He considers it, before gesturing at the door, which flies open at his touch.
