Chapter Nine - second part
-What you WANT us to sit down and continue stroking your companion like the object you think he is. - she whispered. Isaac felt taken back by the powerful force of magic in her words. -You WANT to stare into his eyes and not notice as my colleague checks your bag. You WANT to not notice the missing keys when you get back home. -
Clara's eyes went misty blank for a second and then she sat down as if nothing had happened.
-I want to not notice - she repeated.
As the screams had calmed down, the rest of the guests went back to their own dinners and the chatter in the room raised back to the original volume.
Andre swiftly took the keys and left him to distract a very unsure Clara. Jane gave the woman a long look, as if she wasn't certain that her spell would hold and then followed his friend outside.
Isaac went back into his acting trance for a few more hours. He let Clara touch his neck and arms and legs. He only stopped her when she went a bit too far for the public eye, telling her as such.
This woman might have not been evil, but she was not the type of human he was fighting for either. This was the kind of person that always got what they wanted and would crush anything that stand in their way.
At the end of the dinner, Clara called a cab for the both of them to get to her "second" home, as her husband would be in the main one.
Did he have to follow her? He couldn't possibly walk away without raising suspicions to his figure. He had flirted with her, he had called for the date. Everyone saw it. He swallowed his pride and smiled politely as he was about to get into the cab.
Too late, he realised he was not alone.
Andre jumped out of his hiding spot and slammed the cab door before he could hop in.
Jane followed a few steps behind and grabbed Clara by the neck, whispering things in her ears until she passed out. Then, she went straight to the cab driver and ordered him to move forward and forget what he saw, but before she finished her sentence he had started the car and drove away.
Isaac shocked expression forced an explanation out of her.
-Didn't know I was still able to ... to do that until this idiot - she pointed at Andre. -Decided to burst into your dinner date. -
Andre scrolled his shoulders. -She was way too young for him. - he justified his actions avoiding his eyes.
-Sure - replied Jane, barely containing her anger. -Anyway, the cab drive is gonna talk and she is gonna wake up in a few hours. We need to act tonight. -
She threw the keys at Isaac, who grabbed them in the air.
His brain had already started working on how to get into the police station unnoticed.
-Good, cause I have a plan. -
