The 69th floor

I got off the elevator at the 68th floor and glanced around. My eyes landed on the door that had a sign that said stairway on it. The arrows pointed up and down so I assumed that was where I needed to go. I went through the door and saw that the stairs only went down.
I glanced at the wall and put my hand on it to see if it was real. I took a step back and studied it. The wall had a swirly like pattern that repeated it's self. There were black dots placed equal distance apart. There was one swirl that caught my attention. The swirl connected with the one above it and formed a sideways heart shape. I placed my hand sideways and felt the concrete move slightly. I pushed on the spot and when nothing happened I tried pulling the concrete out which so happened did the job as a door swung open revealing a set of stairs going up.
I rushed up the stairs not wanting to be alone in the dark when the hidden door closed.
I paused as I reached the top and put my hand on the handle. I took two deep breaths in and two deep breaths out. I wanted to be calm and not jittery. I pushed the door open and walked into a opening that had hallways branching off of each other. The room bustled with people. There were tiny cubes set up everywhere for people to work. I closed the door and walked over to the nearest cube which had a younger looking man sitting in it.
"Umm I was wondering where I uhh could find teddy?" I faked a smile as he looked up at me.
"Can't you see that I'm in the middle of something important mortal girl." He snapped at me as I slowly backed away and raised my arms signaling defeat. He glared at me and returned to doing his work.
Mortal girl hmm wonder what's that about
"Umm miss are you Daisy?" A small voice came from behind. I turned around to face a petit girl who had brown hair and blue eyes. She had a oval like face that had freckles speckled about randomly.
"Yea I'm Daisy, who are you." I placed my hand out and she shook it quickly and then returned looking at the ground.
"I'm Mary I'll be your assistant miss." She said slowly well she motioned me to follow her.
"Hi Mary, you don't have to call me miss if I'm gonna work with you then we need to treat each other well." I smiled at her and she returned a smile back.
When we reached a door on the left she opened it and motioned me inside. The room was beautiful. There were two desks, there was one big desk that was next to the window and one tiny desk that was tucked in the corner.
"This is your office Daisy." Mary went and sat in her small desk in the corner.
"No."
"What do you mean no Daisy?" She looked at me curiously.
"I won't have you sitting in the corner now help me move you desk out a bit so you aren't crammed." She looked at me with surprise as I walked over to the desk. "Now are you going to help." She nodded quickly and helped me move the desk out farther next to the bookshelf.
"Thank you miss no one has ever been this kind to me before." She bowed her head and sat down.
"Well that's gonna change." I sat down at my huge desk and took out my notebook, binder and my laptop I always kept in my bag at night on the desk. The door banged open at the speed of light well Mary and I jumped out of our seats.
"Well I finally get to meet my partner in crime." A girl about my age walked in. She had straight blond hair that was slightly curly. Her emerald green eyes shone and she had a Cheshire Cat grin on her face.
"Daisy this is Loral she's going to your partner." Mary left the room in a hurry mumbling something about the bathroom.
"Umm why do we need partners?" I looked at Loral with a confused look on my face.
"Well, this is the DGPP you don't want to know what it means actually no one really knows what it means. Saying that your the first one with your type of  blood to ever step in here I would've figured they would've told you what was going on." I laughed at the last part as I remembered my camera fit.
"I kinda gave him the camera under the table and told him to hide the cameras before he could tell me. And what do you mean by type of blood?"I asked.
"Oh boy, I'm so glad I got partnered with you. But anyways since you can't see through the curtain yet I need bring you to the lab and introduce you to the rest of the team." She grabbed my arm and dragged me down the hallway through the crowd well completely ignoring my question.
We entered a huge room that was filled with people with white coats on. She dragged me over to the left corner table where three other people stood and sat.
"Mathew I need you to get that necklace for Daisy so she can see through the mist." The boy who seemed a year older then me scrambled to get the necklace. He had lightly tanned skin and hazel eyes. His hair was short and light brown.
"Daisy this Agatha and Grayson." She pointed at each of them as Mathew handed me the necklace.
"Here let me help you." Agatha took the necklace from my hand and helped me put it on. I liked Agatha already. She had beautiful brown eyes and black curly hair. Everything about her sung angel.
Grayson was the opposite of Mathew. He had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. His face was like stone and his posture showed he was very serious.
"Now." Loral clapped her hands and jumped up and down like a little kid. "I'll show you around." She smiled and dragged me out of the room. Walking into the huge room with the cubicles set up in it.
"So this is HQ it's where Grayson works he finds stuff for us to do and we as a team go handle it." She pointed at the cubicle in the front where the guy I had asked directions for sat. "Don't talk to him he's mad that the gods punished him to help us." I looked at her curiously.
"What do you mean?" I cocked my head and looked over at him and then back at Loral.
"Well he's part of this team but he tends to stay here cause I guess he doesn't like us mortals. He's the God of fear... I'd say his name but he'd get mad. We call him fear." I nodded slowly pretending to understand well only bits and pieces were clicking together.
"We were actually pretty surprised you found the door." She said well I followed her threw another hallway.
"Well the way the secretary said it told me that there had to be someway to reach the door. Plus the cameras yesterday made me think of a test so I guess I just assumed this was another test." I shrugged and we entered a balcony like room that had lots of windows.
"Well this is the balcony, this is where we all brainstorm. We will probably brainstorm in your room though. Your office is way bigger then mine." She continued walking through the room and stared out the window.
The view was amazing, you could see the entire city from where we stood.
"Why is my office bigger then yours?" I asked as I took the breathtaking scene in.
"I guess they figured you would need space." She shrugged and walked back down the hallway motioning for me to follow her. We walked into my office and I instantly sat on the couch. Well Loral walked over to the window.
"So why was I chosen for this job?" I looked at her.
"Because you proved you could do the job." She shrugged her shoulders again and turned to face me. "None of us know why you were chosen, but you were so we are going to accept you as part of our team and work with you." Her voice turned serious as she talked.
"I'm glad, I'm glad I'm part of your team." I smiled and walked over to the window to stand next to her.
"We're all glad too Daisy. We need a happy person on the team." She turned and hugged me.
"Hate to ruin your happiness." We looked at "fear" as he entered the room.
"But we have a job." He had a frown on his face as he left the room.
"Well I guess we have a job." Loral started walking out the office as I followed.
"Hey Loral?" I asked in the hallway.
"Yea"
"Do you think that he'll ever smile?"
"Maybe, but not in this place." She laughed well I giggled. I think I was starting to like it here.
