The four mates had left a seat open on Remus' side, he wanted to offer it up to Aria had she come to class. But the girl skipped, and when Flitwick asked her dorm mates about it. They claimed that she hadn't been to any of the classes for the door.
Sirius sat in awe at how dismissive the girl's roommates were, granted Clemintine looked distraught with worry the entire lesson. But who was there to voice it to?
Sirius was glad for his mates having his back these last few months...But the strange feeling from this morning still taunted him, like a fly he couldn't swat hard enough away.
It kept coming back.
After Charms the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws students would be free up until dinner, although Remus was planning on using it to study up on potions he frowned as there was nowhere he could probably find Aria.
He had been so blinded by his happiness that he ignored the likes of the gal who introduced him to his new best mates.
His first friend group.
"Clemintine? Right?" Sirius offered, the first instigation between the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws. And the young blonde jumped at her name being called out.
"Y-yeah, that's me...?" She spoke with caution, especially in their hands as they would most likely laugh at someone who fell than help them up.
"Right, know where Roswell went?" The gal frowned, her eyes starting to look in damnation to the lot of them.
"No. I'm off looking for her now." Harper laughed, rolling her eyes at the conversation.
"Don't bother, she's in the dorm room. Best hurry before she's done packing." Clem's heart sped up, panic setting in as she looked beyond surprised.
"Packing?"
"Yeah. She cried to her parents to come and get her." Remus' shoulders fell back as he shook his head, between both him and Clemintine it'd seem...Were the only ones who knew about Aria.
Or Clem more than Remus himself.
"She's leaving? There's a week and a—" Harper shrugged her shoulders. "I didn't ask."
"Obviously." Sirius spit back, he was used to this high and righteous attitude. But this was getting ridiculous.
But then his smirk rallied, Harper was not a proper pureblood name. Black is.
Her parents had urged her to make friends with the likes of him and the rest of his family. Here was her chance.
"I wouldn't worry about it, she'll be going home in Stonewallow."
"She doesn't live there. She lives in America. You don't know a bloody thing about her and you're a down righteous bitch!" Clem shouted, tears in her own eyes as she couldn't rightly handle the last few weeks without Aria. How could the gal just up and leave?
Was she coming back?
"W-what did I—" Remus was still traumatized by the likes of Aria shouting at him this morning, but he frowned to Harper and shook his head.
"Exactly what Clem said, you don't know anything about your roommate. Don't pretend to make yourself look better." Remus could've told a mile away how both she and Isabella ignored the living lights out of Aria.
But Harper didn't think it was that bad...It was simply ignoring! She didn't say anything rude to her face. What was the issue?
Clemintine unfortunately didn't make it in time, instead she saw a little note on her bed with a wrapped gift. Aria managed a Christmas present before she left, and to top it all off there would be an explanation.
As well as one for Lupin.
*
After close to four months of being at Hogwarts, she felt disconnected to those in America. Homesickness didn't cover it, not when she wasn't used to anything actually being home.
It was a refreshing feeling, especially when Aria returned on the likes of a floo system and at the mercy of Mr.Crawford escorting her.
"I still don't understand why you didn't owl me sooner, I run an all witch school you know. If you were having issues with your roommates then—"
"There isn't much to do Mr.Crawford." You're not my father.
She had been close to saying it but withheld, Eli had been battling the same agenda. He was her former headmaster, not her father.
Not if those damn papers wouldn't hurry it up, gods how long could be adopting a child from Britain? The people who abandoned her gave less than minimal effort in formulating a decent background at all, it was as though Aria Roswell never existed.
"Ms.Bennent has requested a separate room with just you and her, why did you decline?" Aria rather be hated in the same room as the girl than be alone. Whether it was the strange black hole that made up her childhood, or the idea emptiness that caused her to think in this mentality...But saying out loud would only cause him to further his advice, so she remained quiet once again.
"I don't understand why you're apologizing to them if it's their fault. Blood doesn't amount to being a snob." She looked up to her father figure and shrugged.
"I could've stayed silent, instead my head of house sent an owl home. Surely that couldn't have good news on a holiday." He sighed, his little girl was too sweet and pure for her own good.
He simply wished he could return her back to her friends, it was as though the light left her eyes when returning to Hogwarts. But she was born here, it was willingly the goddess choice.
Aria bid Mr.Crawford a goodbye and patiently waited for her dormmates to return, having already eaten an early dinner prepared from the elves...She wasn't rightly favoring the idea of eating with them in public, instead she waited and unpacked all that she needed.
As well as putting together the assignments she had missed and needed to hand in the next day.
Remus was in a sour mood for two reason, one for the moon falling cruelly on his winter holiday. And the second in being the lack of Aria on the Hogwarts Express, whatever underlining issue that caused her to leave was more deeply rooted than her roommates.
But then it was Sirius' reminder of Lestrange, and even at dinner was the bastard eyeing the table wearily for her. It was sick and twisted, especially since Sirius had to sit and listen at the awful things the arse had to say.
Aria was a half-blood witch who attended Salem school of witchcraft, so Remus stood behind the fraction that she was gifted, it was obvious.
But she was smart enough to get out of this school.
Amelia Harper had been ridiculed the entire Holiday, she hadn't known that Aria was a Salem graduate. Nor was she prepared for the idea of backing a half-blood, but in light of these arguments and conversations with Isabella, they came to the conclusion that they had been wrong.
But Aria was nowhere to be found.
Either pureblood was going to receive an earful, especially after chasing the damn witch away. But before Amelia could say one damning word about Aria, Clementine squeal at seeing her friend at the desk.
"Aria! I couldn't find you on the train." A soft smile erupted onto her face after seeing how happy her presence had made someone, it hurt to know that the other two didn't find the pleasure...But one thing Ms.Silvia claimed over the holiday is that not everyone is going to love you.
And this was the brutal reality of an eleven-year-old.
"Did you come back early?" Amelia questioned, and it caught Aria's attention as she nodded.
"Mr.Crawford dropped me off, I didn't want—I couldn't stay in Stonewallow." Isabella noted the girl shivered at the sight, what was wrong in her hometown that she returned to her previous school for?
But Amelia took this as a time to ask questions.
"Is he your step-father? Mr.Crawford?" Aria narrowed her brow, how many weeks has it taken for the girls to even look or question the likes of her presence?
So the girl sighed once again, placing her quill down to the table.
"Look, I don't want a forced friendship. But would it kill either of you to be civil? I'll keep my dirty blood over this corner." She spat, and perhaps the girl was still partly bitter, but who was she to blame?
These were the same types of people her parents are. Or were...In her mind she had no parents.
"Ari they aren't...They—They're really sorry I swear, we talked about it the entire train ride and...—"
"We are sorry, we didn't grow up in America as you did. We were taught by different standards." Even in an apology setting did the words coming out of Amelia's mouth still seem like she was being talked down to.
It caused Aria to break her quill.
"I didn't grow up in America, I was placed in Stonewallow's Orphanage...I found out about magic because of Salem. I was taught that magic was the devil's work. So no, I didn't learn any standards at all!" She finished, Aria had lost her last straw. And instead of staying back and battling it out with her roommates, she stormed passed them and marched down the hall.
"Inconsiderate judgmental bitches." She cursed, and for a gal her age, it brought out all the tension in the world. Being able to cuss out as she did.
And just like that, the room of requirement was made.
It caused the troubled girl to trail back for a moment, she could recognize that door anywhere.
It was the door to the Salem library.
Lunging towards it did she come into the familiar scent of America.
There she stayed, throughout the night was she enthralled with the idea of the old books she used to surround herself when Elizabeth went home for the weekend and she didn't want to bother the family.
That's what she saw herself as a bother.
Aria only came out of her secret space when it was needed, nor did she need the idea of breakfast. But here she bumped into the likes of the Sirius Black.
The two hadn't rightly shared a word after the whole Lestrange issue, but it caught her off guard to see him smile.
"Hey darling, you know Remus is looking for you right?" She blinked to him in awe, a pureblood royalty was talking to her?
Shaking off her own prejudice did she nod tiredly.
"Yeah, I was dropped off at Hogwarts. No need to take the train." She mumbled, rushing to get her words out but it also didn't project that far as it wasn't much louder than a whisper.
"Where you headed?"
"Herbology." He nicked his head, but he caught the cautious glint in her eyes. He couldn't feel hurt about her distrust with him, his name meant a lot of things in their world.
But he felt the need to defend her.
"It'd keep Lestrange off your tail, you talking to me...Unless you want to save him to test your poisons." Surprise filled her expression, but it was only her eyes.
And they were far too damn familiar to his heart that he struggled to place them.
The heart remembers, what the mind forgets.

Short chapter I know! Maybe if I get the chance tonight I'll post another?

In Immer Angst I never though Amelia/Harper would start being unfriendly to Aurora, but under the circumstances, Aurora was in a higher-ranked family than her own and thus-Respected.
Now in putting Aria in Aurora's place, with no background and no respectable household behind her...It'll make for purebloods to not notice her as they might've done in the other book.
I thought it was a nice little twist that she doesn't have her regular support or her family's connection.
