Aurora had found herself struggling to fall asleep, even with her daughters in her arms. But it's been hours and slept never found her yet, so she decided that a warm cup of tea would settle her overactive mind.
Having found the cabinet lacking tea leaves caused her to sigh, she would've ordered a shipment imminently had this been a normal night.
This was truly a moving day.
It hadn't been all that long since the kettle had been silenced, and she was graciously pouring her boiling water above some loose leaves...She had been far too demanding of the sleeping aura that the leaves would promise in an hour.
She had been kindly sipping her tea and reading over one of the many forums that slipped her notice when she was trying to get reacquainted with her husband.
Rabastan Lestrange.
The woman looked fondly over her beautiful home, the open layout allowed her to blissfully remember how this home came to be. She plowed through the plans in two days because she needed to get the children out of the small apartment that Regulus and Phoebe occupied. But even now that had been an upgraded manor as well.
Was she really turning her life around—
The sudden unlocking of the front door had caused Aurora to unveil her wand close to an instant. Causly did she stock forward in try and stop the intruder.
But a stressful sigh ceased as she groaned into the air.
"Aidan, what the bloody hell are you doing?"
Truthfully she didn't know what she was going to do had there been an unknown intruder, but she felt just a sliver of a bit better, and yet when she realized that Aidan was meant to be in California she scowled.
"...Aidan-"
"I needed to see you again." Aurora's wand had been placed down onto the table as she wrapped herself further in her night robe. "Aidan that isn't the best idea..."
"Did everything go alright? Regulus said that you were thinking of coming back every few weeks." Aurora held her tongue, though her brother and Aidan had started off on the wrong foot, they surely found common ground.
Especially if Regulus was owling him.
"It depends on Salem and the meetings, and the potion kit is still getting moved to Britain so...Aidan I thought we settled this ages ago?" Her voice was delicate, having already hurt him once was giving her immense guilt once again.
"He doesn't deserve you Rory, he doesn't deserve a single damn thing you've done for him or keep doing for him. We could've—We could've been just fine without him."
"And when the children go to Hogwarts? Perhaps if he hadn't been released Aidan, then we could've thought harder about our little Corin."
Corin.
Aidan found himself straightening his back at the temptation of their daughter, gods he prayed that Rory would surprise him with the news. But that had been before the prison release statement, that had been before they had broken up...
Before.
"I love you Rory..."
"And I love you Aidan Proctor, but dragging you into my world in Britain is the last thing I want to do. That is why I am taking you off the Britain team."
"No. Otto is the one who pushed me going, Regulus is counting on me to watch you. I am not letting you—" He had spoken rightly out of context and she was all but prepared to stand her ground.
"You're not letting me?!" Her voice rose an octave, causing Aidan to throw a sound protective charm over the mast of the entire living room. "I promised I would protect you, I promised that I would—"
"Aidan it isn't possible anymore, I've unsilenced my soul from him, he's anxiously waiting to see the children. You must understand."
"Well I don't! I love you, and I cannot stand here and promote your potion without thinking of you!... Gods can you not hear me? I love you."
"Aidan this isn't about love, not in war, and not when my children are involved." She would be condemning him to a world of harsh pureblooded rites. The very same that Regulus had just barely escaped and survived.
Regulus was long passed hiding his scar, especially when he had a beautiful tattoo etched over the torn tissue to promote his change.
To thank his sister and join the faith.
"When will you put yourself first? For once...For once in your damn life?" Aurora shook her head, and perhaps she would give herself the last night in her lifetime to be with Aidan.
But what would be the point? To give him hope?
"When there's no one else in front of me to give." She replied, Aidan caught her glossy eyes and no matter how much he restrained himself—He simply could not stay away from her.
He pulled her into his embrace and would not let go.
"Aidan. I have to go."
"No. You don't." Both their voices were muffled by them hiding within the other's hold.
"Do you remember when you came one summer?... And I said I wished you could've gone to Ilvermorny?" She nodded, raising her head from his chest to look up to him. "I should've told you then, I should've told you how I felt." Aurora wiped the falling tears from his cheeks with her sleeve and shook her head.
"Even then I was with him Aidan...Don't mistake my choice to how I feel about you." He leaned in ever so slowly to leave a chaste kiss on her lips, nothing more than a small peck to offer moving departure.
"If he does anything...Anything— I don't care what it is, you tell me." Aurora had only told Rabastan suspicions on Lorelei's parentage, only Regulus knew so far.
"Aidan you cannot start something over a little—"
"I sure as hell will, screw him...My promise still stands with you." And for the next hour the two, did they finally get the solid goodbye that either were dreading since the moment Aurora had broken their relationship off.
He understood, deep down he knew Aurora's loyalties were always tethered to the man—Her soulmate.
Come morning Aurora had still more than teary-eyed but decided to get a head start on cooking the herd of children breakfast.
It was currently eight and the children were starting to widdle their way out of their bedrooms. Romulus going as far as helping Ronan with his trunk before they both returned upstairs to do the same with the opposite trunk.
Even though they were rightly different, Aurora saw it as a weekly brotherly spat. Sirius and Regulus rightly didn't get along much either, if it weren't for herself that is...Either sibling assumed he would've run off to the Potter's earlier.
And the glue between Romulus and Ronan was their sisters. Cara and Lori especially.
"Mum, is Uncle Reggie taking us to the Ministry?" Aidan rolled his eyes as the children, their uncle or Aurora could never stop calling it a Ministry. But he wasn't going to comment again.
"Yes, so how about we get everything downstairs...Are the animals downstairs?" Aurora called out, and Romulus looked up from his task. "I saw Omen in my room, I'll bring her downstairs. Imara where's Loki?"
"Sleeping in my room, mum he doesn't want to leave either." Aurora sighed and leaned into her daughter's ear for a single sentence before the little girl darted up the stairs.
"What'd you say to her?"
"That Nifflers are legal as pets in Britain." Aidan couldn't help but crack this time as it was indeed a very grand temptation for that little witch.
It was rather calm and quiet throughout the house, all but Ronan. Though he wasn't the most energetic child of the bunch, he was a lot brighter than the rest this morning.
"Oi! I will not have you lot sulking! If you want to sulk I will gladly take you all on a ten-hour flight to get to Britain."
"Thank the damn gods that we've got portkeys." Imara mumbled under her breath, though it still earned her a disappointed glare from her mother.
"Can we go on a pla—" Ronan threw his hand over Lori's mouth and shook his head.
"No Lori they're awful." The gal threw his hand off and the sudden conversation around the table sparked on why muggle planes were terrible.
"Goodmorning everyone!" Regulus cheered, and Rory rolled her eyes. Especially when he came over with an obnoxious kiss to her cheek before patting Aidan on the back.
"Going with?"
"Not yet, Mr.Handson will be sending word when I can go. I need work order and a permit to enter the country." Aurora was indeed thankful at one aspect of it all.
The drive to the ministry was a relief, especially when she could get another hour with Aidan. He held her hand tightly throughout the ride, so while Regulus took a few of the children and trunks, she had the eldest and youngest.
"Mummy?"
"Yes darling?"
"Did you pack my stuffie?"
"Of course I did, how could we leave America without Paddy?" She held her smile to herself, the nickname for the black wolf that looked like Padfoot would be hidden clue amongst the rest.
Yet the drive to the Ministry had finally come to an end.
The trunk that held everything of the six Lestrange's was secured in Aurora's satchel, the only loose items were the children's dual citizen passports, the wand permits, school IDs and birth certificates.
Having ordered a portkey gave them all of five minutes left in the states before they would call Britain their home for the rest of the Holiday.
But for Aidan, it was the last he could think of Rory in a romantic view. Over the years he's adapted the idea that he could father her children, but they didn't want a papa.
They were considerably fine with just their mum, and he was not going to tell him otherwise. But he could've been there regardless in a little less position than a stepfather, as Aurora was always the one to parent the children.
"This is worse than when you were going for two weeks," Regulus said in their long embrace.
"I'll call you before bed, I promise...As within?"
"So without, as above?"
"So below." And in complete and utter unison had the siblings mumbled the final line.
"As the Universe, so the soul."
A final kiss landed on his cheek before she turned back to Aidan. "As for you, I'll owl you as soon as I can."
"I look forward to it, even if it's about your day." Aurora overheard Regulus spout a grumble of 'bloody sap' before saying a final goodbye to his nieces and nephews.
"Lestrange. Portkey one minute." The announcer called out, and Rory kissed Aidan's cheek before finding her two youngest and going to hold their hand.
"Did everyone take the potion?" She called out, and there were the great given nods as She motions for everyone to touch the metal bar when time. But either Cara and Lori had their free hand on their mum's shoulder, the rest had a hand prepared on the other as instructed by their mum.
"Lestrange, Portkey ten seconds." Goodbye America. Aurora whispered before closing her eyes and having the entire world come swirling around her, a familiar feeling. But the passing seconds did she shoot her eyes to see her children all collective trying to get their minds around what happened.
Yet it was Lori falling that truly had her feel the guilt.
"Close your eyes darling, I'm going to pick you up...And once we get home you can sleep in my bed yeah?" Lorelei listened to her mum quickly, attempting to soothe the nausea passing through her little body.
"I can carry your bag mum." She thanked Romulus as he was looking through to find the much-needed bundle and followed beside his mum to the desk off in the corner.
"Welcome to the British Ministry of Magic, passport, wand permit and work permit if needed." It took a moment but Aurora was prepared that each child had their individual bundle of what was needed, and yet there had been an issue.
The easiest to get through the borders were those that had been born in the country as they had a right.
Yet it was Lorelei Lestrange that the British Ministry was highly against in allowing into the country.
"Young man, my daughter's has two British parents who were born in this country. She has a dual citizenship passport that I had sent the correct documentation and all to get this certification, now unless your next words are for clarification—Then I want to talk to your superior." And so the young man excused himself and went to fetch his boss, which lead to the same bloody argument prior.
With the children getting restless with the games they've played and whatever else they were doing off in the waiting room. It caused Aurora to inhale rather deeply before calling upon one of her final straws.
Calling Otto Hanson and two of her lawyers, and that damn sure caused a stir in the system as they all of a bloody sudden allowed them entry.
After three hours in this section of the Ministry, she was damn near swearing out the people behind the desk. And her lawyers were indeed going to sort out the necessities to demand justice for that disgrace, while Otto decided that he was going to help Aurora travel with the children to the Lestrange manor...
Though they only apperented outside the front gate.
"Woah...That's where we live?" Cara breathed out, her hand pulled away from her mum as she walked closer to the locked gate.
"Perhaps Rose and I will come for dinner before these four go off for the semester."
"Of course, and bless you Otto. I don't think I could spend another minute there." The children said goodbye to their Opa and continued off to the gorgeous mansion before them.
Comments of the Halliwell manor flew passed Aurora as she tried to sooth Lori's crying. The young girl was still feeling awful after the effects of the portkey. Perhaps she should've upped the dosage for her.
"Come lovelies, Lori needs to lay down. And I'm sure you all want to see Papa." Imara and Ronan were the first few through the gate, entirely confused as the iron gate hadn't pushed open but simply allowed them to push through.
"That's brilliant, what sort of charm is that?" Cara breathed out, and Romulus had given her his theory on what type of spells could surrounding the house and Aurora grinned.
He was partly right. Though they were not nearly as strong as when they were first casted.
"Mum, do we knock?" Rory shook her head and Ronan had pushed open the door to allow the rest to follow in suit.
"Ronan you were right! The ceilings are so high!" Imara's voice echoed and it caused Rory to smile yet again at the idea of all the children back in the home.
"Daisy, could you tell Rabastan that we're home?" The elf had popped in for a moment before popping out yet again.
"Our elf name is Daisy?... Do we have other elves?" Aurora spoke lightly not to disturb Lori all that much. She wasn't surprised that Romulus and Cara were staying by her side, and so she continued closer and told Romulus to place the trunk out on the floor—Thus allowing all the travel trucks to be freed from their enchantment.
"Did we really have this much?" Imara gasped, and Rory rolled her eyes as she instructed them to find the one with Omen and Loki.
"Papa!" Ronan called out, which caused the young son to stop his task to rush to his father's side and tackling him with a hug.
Imara was left holding Omen in her arms sharing a sort of shyness that Aurora wasn't completely familiar with. If anything she was a daddies' girl, had all the years truly turned her into a mummy's girl.
"Well look at all of you..." He whispered out, which caused Imara's hair to shoot in a sudden shade of green. Slytherin green.
"I see you remember your father Imara, go and say hello...You too." Rabastan had set down Ronan back to the floor and gone over to walk towards Imara.
"...Hello."
"Well aren't you the spitting image of your mother...I think I'm favoring green on you better than the blue." It was true, Imara had taken to the blue tips at the end of her hair for the fun of it.
When Rabastan had kneed down before Imara, she had soon conformed her body into his and cuddled with him all for a moment. Yet that still didn't help either Cara or Romulus on leaving her side, so she walked the given distance to join them.
"I'm sorry we're late, they held us up at the ministry because Lorelei's passport was American issued." Rabastan had looked teary-eyed to his wife, the overwhelmed feeling of being reunited with his children was such a surreal experience, one that he could only dream of when he was locked away.
Cara had been the first to leave her mother's side, while Romulus still held his place—Holding Lori's hand for that matter.
"So you're our papa?" Aurora hid her smile and kissed Lori's head once again, Cara was indeed as blunt as her mother.
"That I am, my my—You both are as gorgeous as your mother." That had Cara gasp, her small hands going over mouth instantly, and thus causing her hair to turn a bright shade of red.
"But mummy is beautiful." Rabastan cupped her small cheeks and bopped her nose, a small tease that he had copied their mother when they were just babes.
"And you're just the same, Cara...Imara, thank you for coming." He whispered, his voice slowly turning husk as Rory knew he was just seconds away from going to tears.
"Can we explore? Mummy said she did our rooms!" Imara cheered, and in that instant had the energetic personality returned, it had simply been toned down due to the introduction to someone as important as her father.
"Hmm, I suppose. Will you two ladies have dinner with me?" Romulus was completely blown away by his father, sure Opa had informed him of his personality—But the eldest son knew of a few other issues.
This man—This bastard, cursed his mother!
And that was entirely a different grounds than abandoning the family.
"What time is dinner here?"
"The same time Imara, you make it sound like we're on a different planet." Romulus smiled at his mother's joke, but hated the fact that they were coming closer to the man of the hour.
And it caused him to squeeze his little sister.
"Six?"
"We can eat at six, how about Ronan show you your rooms?" The three had soon ran up the main staircase at the order of their father, then it left that last two and his wife.
"I was starting to worry." He said, offering a kiss to his wife's cheek and touching Lori's back in concern. "She's feeling ill after the portkey, I think it's best to meet her after another potion and a nap." With that plan out in the open, Rabastan looked down to his son for the third time.
"Romulus...I hear you've helped your mother, thank you doesn't represent how much that means to me son." The boy blinked to the man before him, almost analyzing where the similarities between himself and his father were.
"I don't need a thank you, she's my mum."
"Of course, but you stepped up as the eldest at such a young age, I'm proud of you." Rabastan thought he was saying everything right, but as the boy looked up to his mother in confusion—It'd seem that his father had taken him by surprise.
Aurora had saw the hurt build into her husband's eyes, and it only escalated when Romulus held out his hand for a shake. Not a hug.
"Mummy, can I take a nap?"
"Oh love I'm sorry, yes let's get you set up and changed. Romulus, could you get my pack?" The young lad jumped at the order knowing exactly what his mother had meant as well as where it is.
Rabastan had watched Rory still holding onto Lori so tightly, a sick child was indeed putting him in a more stressful position.
Yet it was when she started to cry that truly kicked him into gear. "Perhaps we should go to mungos?" Romulus remained silent, but he was saying one too many witty things in his mind.
"She'll feel better in a moment, you can sleep on my side darling." Lorelei had snuggled instantly under the cover and into the pillow, Rory waved the curtains to make it appear darker and ordered the elves to build a fire.
Rabastan hadn't lost sight of either child, but he was rightly caught off guard when Romulus asked a question to his mother regarding a potion. The son secured the one Aurora mentioned, and Lori was all too ready for the drops on her tongue.
"The rooms not spinning anymore..." She smiled softly, and Rabastan let out a sigh of relief on two regards. That Lori was already, and the second being a bit more selfish in regards to her having her an accent.
An adorable little voice.
"Do you want your stuffie Lori? I can go and find it." The girl nodded tiredly as the little lad ran out the door to fetch the given thing. "She's perfect..." Rabastan whispered, and Rory smiled up to her husband in agreement.
"Do you hear that Lil Lori, papa thinks you're perfect." She giggled, smiling numbly up to her papa.
"Are you really my papa?"
"Yes I am, and it's very nice to meet you little Lori. I've heard many great things about both you and your siblings." It had turned silent for a moment before Lori began to cry, and the light humming that would usually work from her only irritated her further.
"Are you going to leave again papa?"
"Not again love, not again."
"Do you promise?" This was where Rory was indefinitely worried, it was one thing that the promises made for her were broken. But for children it was their entire livelihood, they wouldn't forgive him—And on top of it, their childhood would be threatened on that regard.
"I promise darling, and when you wake up I have a surprise for you." It was the last thing she heard as she fell into an induced sleep, a side effect of the potion yes, but gave her a peaceful bliss for the time being.
