✧DEATH EATERS MAKE GOOD BABYSITTERS✧

Rabastan had indeed gone to the meeting, but Aurora demanded that she not be babysat by someone. If something were to happen the elves would do something to protect their mistress, and her husband was far to close to charming her wand to stick in her hand. The number of times she would lose it throughout the house was starting to drive him insane.
"Omen is here with me—"
"I don't rightly know how that well that would work love, now I wish we had a guard dog." Her eyes sparked instantly as she was excited.
"C-can we get a dog?" How could he deny her that right in having another pet?
"Aurora I have to get to the meeting, and you want to discuss about getting another pet?" Her arms offered out in defense.
"Okay Lestrange! Fine! I'll be reading about mutts!... Do you have the vial?" He had offered it out from his pocket however he failed to remember his wife's blindness, she had been doing fairly well with the impairment that it took a few moments to realize she wasn't looking him directly in the eyes.
"Of course, and I don't want a mutt order being placed before we properly talk about this Aurora!" Her mischievous smirk rivaled even Sirius at the time as she continued to her study.
"CASSIOPEIA I MEAN IT!"
"Stay safe! Don't let Rookwood bother you too much love." She cheered, and instead she settled down into her chair. Funny enough when Rabastan left she told the elves that she was going to rest her eyes for a small bit...Granted, this was a lie.
There had been too much time lost between her and the Order, the only issue is the littlest factor that she did know was that they were starting to narrow down the location of the safe house.
They needed to move.
With her cloak over her shoulders, she didn't care that she wasn't dressed properly. But the chance of showing up in bedroom attire was not going to happen.
It had been a quick appreciation to the front door of her brother and Remus' apartment. But her throat closed as she was in an unknown area, the last time she had seen anyone she could actually see.
Her hand felt out forward and the door handle had been there so she smiled and knocked at the door.
Her cat ears indeed caught the shuffling of the actions behind the door, and the smell of magic leaked through the protective spell. But was that due to her being inside the apartment before or otherwise?
"Just a moment!" Remus yelled, and an instant swell of warmth filled her chest. The anxiety instantly vanished at the sound of Remus' voice, it felt like honey...And when one of them opened the door the gasp filled her ear.
"Remus?" She took a small sniff and it was indeed Remus, the Wizard wasted no time to wrap his arms around her.
"PADS!" Flinching in his hold had him instantly apologies while he waited for Sirius to come to greet his sister.
"Sirius Black come over and hug me!" She yelled, and it caused her brother to trip and fall, though that didn't stop him before he tackled the two of them.
"Cassiopeia you have a LOT of explaining to do." When she pulled away it didn't take long for the two to take a look at her eyes.
"I'm...I'm sure you heard what happened with the Acadamy?" Sirius nodded but Aurora missed that action.
"Yeah it was in the paper..." Remus mumbled and she had a sad smile.
"I was too close to the explosion and I lost my sight...Temporarily." Both turned into overprotective mutts, Rabastan joked about getting a dog and here she went to hang out with the two.
"T-temporarily? Merlin Rory you're still—"
"That's why I couldn't come, I could barely feel the door outside had I not come here before." Remus stood in awe as he started to get lost in the eyes.
The white one was catching and hypnotic while the other was a calm overdraft, Sirius was still shaking with anger. So she cupped his cheek.
"Come on brother, I'm right here...Granted I am here for a purpose and with a time limit." The three instantly went forward to the couch and Aurora made herself comfortable but smiled off to Remus.
"I may be blind Remmy, but I can still feel others eyes." Sirius chuckled.
"How'd you know that was Moony?"
"Aside from the fact that you still smell like a wet dog, he smells like tea." Remus couldn't help but laugh, of course Aurora would use Salem's senses.
"A-and what about the trial?" It had been only a few days since the trial but she rolled her eyes in remembrance to that anxiety attack.
"Damocles Belby, he's the dumbarse that caused the explosion. He claimed I caused it and I ruined the beginning of his career. He sued me for one million Galleons." Sirius laughed at the amount, but Remus couldn't bear the thought of a thousand Galleons being charged on his account.
"Not a sweat, bet that's how much Lestrange got for marrying you huh?"
"Believe I'm worth ten million brother, I think I spent that on renovations to be quiet honest." Remus was attempting to not choke on his tea at the sight.
"Mate this couch you're sitting on is about four thousand Galleons alone, Rory's dress is probably more than that at the very least."
"Arsehole." She swatted, and Sirius beamed to his sister...Although it was short lived as he caught wind of what being blind meant.
"Rory Merlin...How, how are you coping with all of this?"
"Well enough, I've started to see lights if it's bright enough, reading's a little difficult but Reg gifted me a book of brail." Remus hadn't even thought about that aspect either, if taking a seat was a struggle then this wasn't any better.
Sure now she could escape, but what if Rabastan came home early?
"I believe the Death Eaters are gaining the information about the safe house, I haven't been present to so many meetings as of late but the last one...I need you to give this to Dumbledore the next chance you get." She offered up a small vial in between the two lads, but it was her brother who snatched it up.
"How is everyone?"
"Worried, Circe Rory it's been almost two months." Guilt racked the young witch far too easily as she looked down to her hands.
"I'm sorry, but I can't read the book...I'm rarely alone...Siri I can't see anything, even in the hallway I was...New areas aren't really my friend." Remus wrapped an arm around Rory and pulled her close.
"Glad you're safe Rory." He whispered, and she rallied in his scent as though it was home.
It was, through all of Hogwarts had Aurora been friends with Remus. Even before the Marauders and the full moon, Sirius looked at his sister and best mate and realized far too easily how comfortable his sister looked.
Had she had a choice, would she have gone for Remus?
In Rory's mind there was never anyone else other than Rabastan, they've been together so long and she wouldn't have shown interest as her nose was always in a book at one point or another.
"Let me get Prongs and Lily, they want to see you before you've gone back." Aurora nodded but closed her eyes once again. Though the second her brother left he shook his head.
"I smell like tea?"
"You say that like it's a bad thing Remmy. Honestly. Besides, I quite like the smell of tea and old books." So he smelled like a library? Merlin no wonder she was curled up beside him, though the last time she was over they were a similar position as well.
"Is now a good time to say that I've been awarded an Order of Merlin?"
"WHAT?!" He yelled, and the poor witch covered her ears at his damned change in octive.
"I can hear perfectly well, and I know Sirius is just going to make fun of me so could you keep it down before he comes back."
"Merlin...Merlin?! Christ Rory how can you not tell your brother?" She waved her hand in annoyance.
"You substituting one figure for a religious one isn't going to fix it Remus." He cracked an adoring grin, and this time he didn't have to hide it from her. Remus, like the rest of the group missed her.
Missed her banter, missed her witt.
Missed the Ravenclaw persona that she carried herself with.
But now she was just a blind wife caught in a tower, and either of them knew that it was under lock and key.
The two were talking about their recent books in an exchange of titles and authors, and instantly the party piled through the entrance...Already making Aurora worry on who was present.
"RORY!" Lily cried, and all too easily had she been tackled. Thank goodness it didn't enact a headache, she couldn't take another one at the moment.
"Hey Lils...It's good to see you." Remus flinched on hearing that term, seeing, she couldn't rightly see anything at the moment. But the hiss of an inhale when Mrs.Potter took a good at Aurora's Iris' all couldn't be more wrong.
"Oh Rory I'm so sorry, how are you feeling...Let me get you—" Mrs.Lestrange wasted no time to pull back Lily for a hug.
It was far too obvious to see that Aurora missed Lily, she missed everyone around her at the moment. Even James wiggled into their embrace. "Rightly don't remember inviting you in."
"How'd you even know it was me?" She snorted and threw her head back to the couch, honestly did being blind really constitute as her being clueless?
"Yeah, if I smell like a wet dog what does he smell like Rory?"
"Like a fireplace...I should get going soon though." Sirius pouted, though his actions would act in their puppy-like defense in getting her to stay longer.
"Ten minutes. Please Rory...When's the next time I get to see my sister." She rolled her eyes, she still never lost her sassy remarks or expressions.
Ten minutes had passed, then twenty...And goddess was she starting to stress.
"I think you're forgetting something Rory." Remus smirked, knowing full well that it would enact a glare, and she was getting very good at pinpointing where one's eyes are.
Her mismatched eyes made it entirely more threatening.
"What...Forgetting what?" I threw Sirius for a loop, but Aurora simply shook her head in Remus' direction. But the man was enjoying himself all too much.
"Remus." She warned, and he instantly threw his arms over her and pinned her in his hold.
"This little sister of yours managed to get second class Order of Merlin for her quick thinking." The room drew silent, and before long Mrs.Lily Potter shrieked once again, causing Rory to hide away at the noise.
"Merlin why is everyone always screaming around me." She grumbles, truthfully it was her heightened senses that sounded as if everyone was shouting when it was their normal speaking voice. Granted the squeals from Lily were indeed higher due to excitement, but Order of Merlin.
But the fact that her brother was laughing was a clear cut sign if there ever was one.
"What's so funny?"
"Are you bloody surprised that you've gotten the award? Goodness sake Rory, I assumed it was a matter of time but at least by mid-twenties you'd get one for some creation of yours." She perked her lips, it was indeed a compliment but this was one of the lesser reasons.
"Honestly Rory, 7 years at the number one position...That's unheard of." She offered a lovely little smile but then felt the small watch on her wrist, those around her watched as her fingers trickled over to gain the time.
"I really have to go, if anything big happens I'll try the book. But everyone said that my handwriting is a sloppy mess."
"We'll decode it, stay safe Rory. Please." Sirius had kindly wrapped his arms around his sister once again, and before long she had found herself in the arms of everyone before she repeated the same notion.
"Rory..." She turned back in the direction of her brother's voice. "As above?"
"So below...As within?"
"So without." A sad smile shined on either one of the siblings faces as she managed to get to the door and instantly apparent out.
The only issue was that had popped directly into her room without truly stopping and pacing her time. The sound had caught the attention of those in the building, and it prompted investigation...If something happened to their best mate's wife under their watch they would surely get a stern word for a line of people.
"Aurora?...You alright hun?" Her head peeped up to where she assumed the door is and instead threw off her shoes and cloak as she managed to go to the door.
What the bloody hell was Avery doing here?
"Did my husband really not trust me to be alone for the rest of the day?" He chuckled. "Apparently not, McNair is downstairs with Dolohov and Carrow. You alright?" She offered a smile.
"Course, don't tell my husband but I apparent because it's easier than maneuvering around the room." He could understand that, even peeking into the bedroom did he figure that it was indeed aggravating to get her toe subbed onto every piece of furniture.
"Have you been here long?...I didn't even know that—"
"Your elf said you were asleep." He waved off her concern far too easily, and she gulped. Guilt was an easy emotion to feel in her position, she favored the given few but this war was drawing a strict and thin line down the middle of those she trust to those she loves.
"I feel like an improper hostess."
"Then you'll be delighted to know we've made great work of the bar and poker table...I do hope Harper will allow me the same liberties of having a lad's room." Aurora closed her eyes and shook her head.
"Perhaps if you walk me to my study, I could slip in a few hints for it." Avery would've done it outright as she needed aid, but it was a win-win for either of them.
"That cat is a tripping hazard."
"You're not the one who's tripped over her either."
Meow!
"Oh hush." Aurora hissed back and Avery continued to chuckle the rest of the way to her room. Granted he's only been to the manner a handful of times, but he agreed that they wouldn't pop in until AFTER the marital bliss ended, but here they were protecting his wife.
"I would've assumed that you all were called for the same task. Were you stuck babysitting me instead?"
"I believe it's only a few, I don't know much about the mission either I'm afraid." She hummed and found her given book as well as settled on the couch.
"Avery, what sort of dog would you recommend?" He couldn't even deem his surprise with just a single laugh, this wizard had to cover his reaction with his hand and talked with a smile.
"Well, it was a good thing your husband warned me."
"Diese dumme Kuh..."
[That stupid cow]
She mumbled under her breath and once again she caught him by surprise. "That's one of the first lines I learned, but I bet McNair would love to help you in finding a pup. Or do you want a special one of a kind breed." He jazzed his hands and she perked her lips.
"I will happily adopt one from a pet store Avery, I'm not that vain."
"Rory I doubt you could be if you tried, I feel like my vault will instantly drain when Amelia gets a hold of the key." She hummed along and continued to read.
"Yes well, if you expect her to design a home for you to live in...A lad room too, that's going to cost a good amount." The witch had an idea and asked Daisy to grab one of her portfolios. "I could've managed just fine to grab that for you Aurora."
"Yes but then you're really babysitting me, here...Raba liked the one we have now, but this fits your esthetic better." The wizard took hold of the large paper and unfolded it, indeed did it show a beautiful bar, poker and pool table featured within the room.
Granted it had that Lestrange vibe, but it was far too little to really fit the nature of Rabastan. He fancied grand and luxurious, but come a time when Avery is hosting game night he too wanted to be something he was proud of.
"So are we talking a pup or a fully grown—" A child like smile rose of her face as she indeed wanted a puppy, merlin did she want a puppy. She loved Omen, but she couldn't stand behind one single animal.
Granted her husband probably wouldn't like if she adopted some animals such as a hippogriff or a niffler. But who could deny the little fellow just a few coins to settle his addiction? Or the likeness of a magnificent bird like horse?
Rabastan remembered distinctly when his girlfriend had come into Transfiguration with the biggest grin after meeting either one of those creatures.
"'Bass said a monster vicious sort of mutt, think that new breed would work better. Dire wolves, have you heard of them?" That would be perfect.
"Thanks Avery, have fun with those plans. Best hide them though, or else McNair is going to ask for one and I haven't got the touch to make new plans at the moment." The conversation soon died out from there, though it didn't aid her in figuring out where or what her husband was up to. But it rightly didn't matter, those downstairs would protect her...Even if Rookwood isn't that threatening.
It was due to her vision that it was going to cause issues on her ability to protect herself, so perhaps this mutt idea wasn't all that far fetched.
Throughout the time, there were quite a few knocks. Some on invitations on joining them downstairs, and most offered to owl their girlfriends in giving Aurora some sort of company to entertain herself with. But the girl could always find said company with a book.
It was only when she forced down for dinner that she really enjoyed the extra company.
"Bet Rory could help mate...This one is scared on proposing." Her brow rose as she lead backward in her chair in amusement. "Whatever for? 'Mila loves you."
"I know that...It's getting that across her father is the bloody game of it all." Ahh, so it was an outer problem, but then McNair chuckled.
"'Bass was a mess the days leading up to proposing, you have to do better than that mate."
"He was not." She defended, and the table couldn't contain the laughter.
"Gods he thought you were going to say no," Avery said.
"Nono, he thought you were going to laugh and think it was a joke," McNair added. But it was Carrow who couldn't contain the truth.
"If Avery didn't kick his arse to get a move on, I still think we would be waiting on it." Aurora covered her mouth as she tried to contain the humor of it all. How was it that the people on this side of the war acted so normal? But were horrific monsters the second they were ordered otherwise.
"Well I didn't do any better."
"Oh, we know. You froze." McNair hadn't known that factor as Carrow had been the one to mention as he choked on his drink. "No...Rory you froze?"
"Was I suppose to expect a proposal that early?" Fear erupted into Avery as he too took that as a sign of being far too early and Aurora caught the misinterpretation seconds after.
"Come on, you don't want to see her a beautiful gown walking down the aisle?" She indeed caught the soft side of the Death Eaters far too easily, their loved ones were their weakness.
And while the others were scoffing at the notion Avery was smiling to himself. "Bet he's looking for the honeymoon instead."
"Well if I could get passed her bloody father I could start thinking about all this." She rolled her eyes once more.
"Then make a ring and present it to him, I doubt it's that hard. Mr.Harper is a kind fellow." Avery was quick to disagree, but his face fell into his hands in damnation.
"He's tried...Twice, and Amelia knows that he talked to her father."
"Ah, so here's a light kick in the arse to go and get a ring and just ask...Because if I know her, she's going to want months to prepare for the—"
"MONTHS?!" Now it was Aurora's turn to groan in her hands.
"So when are you going to get the ring?"
"Tomorrow." He spoke so quickly that Aurora couldn't help but squeal at the chance to attend a wedding of two ver good friends and witness they're union.
"Can someone explain why Bass mentioned 'no dogs' as a topic that we couldn't bring up."
"Because he made the unfortunate mention of getting a dog in front of this one." Sure she was the butt end of a joke, but truthfully...After all these years, it was the closest they'd get to caring.
"He said that we should get a guard dog, that's on him."
"So is it going to happen?" Carrow questioned and McNair couldn't contain it.
"Rory when has your husband ever said the word no to you?" She perked her lips and thought for a moment.
But then that moment turned into a few as she rightly couldn't think of a time. "Once." It indeed caught their interest.
"No." Which already screamed that it was in the realm of sexual activity.
"On another note, before Bass threatens to cut my ears off...I have connects to a Dire wolves Breeder off in Norway." She liked the sound of that, and soon enough that fur ball would indeed be welcomed in the home.
The males actually stayed the majority of the night, granted Aurora did offer guest rooms as she didn't want them to lose any limbs when apparently home drunk as all hell.
After dinner she studied for tomorrow class, and she found herself in bed at a decent time. However waking up to an empty bed gave her this sick and twisted feeling.
Is Rabastan okay?
Like usual Zane had come to pick her up, granted he managed to meet Rabastan's friends and it was a nightmare as she scolded them for being unfriendly AND hungover.
"Rabastan didn't say you have class today..." McNair countered, worrying that this would constitute as being punished.
"I do...I'll be back in three hours." It took all the convincing in the world, but it rightly didn't matter if Aurora was late. She was blind and a tardy excuse wasn't at all a big deal.
Though she felt guilty that she had made Zane late, he rightly didn't care as he knew just how much Rabastan was protective of his little wife.
