Rabastan had slept on account a few hours, as had Aurora...considering her drops would always wake her up for a small dose. The irritated feeling had drifted away, which she told the nurse and was glad it finally disappeared.
Temporary, this is temporary. That is what ran in Rabastan's mind over and over. Especially when he aided her with drinking her tea. "Merlin love I can put milk in just fine, I've been your breakfast partner for how long?" Her narrow eyes weren't as threatening as they completely missed his figure but he chuckled.
"Are my eyes that bad Raba?" He stopped pouring the tea additive as he signed.
"They aren't bad love. Your left looks like snow, like pure white crystals...Then the right look--looks like a galaxy actually." Aurora personally wanted to see what they looked like, but settled to the steaming cup of tea into her hands securely made her smile.
"And the burns? My hair still sort of smells."
"Your clothes were burned, I haven't seen anyone other than Zane. But he was sporting the same crackles in his skin." She hummed into her sip of tea, and a smirk rose on her face.
"Enough milk?"
"Sod off." He chuckled and kissed her crown before sitting back down to enjoy his own. Perhaps it was all the medications she was under, but she seemed cheerful. He was entirely hopeful that this was going to stay.
"Rabastan Lestrange you didn't even eat last nights—"
"Goodmorning to you too Cissy, my ears work perfectly fine so if you could—" The gasp from her cousin caused her to flinch for the second time.
"You're awake!" She came in to hug her young cousin and kissed her cheek. But it was only then that Mrs.Malfoy had taken a proper look to her eyes.
"What have you brought with you Cissy?"
"Merlin everything this hospital is lacking!" She cheered, and the smell of perfumed goodness confused her greatly as she held her wrist to her nose.
"Could you get rid of that smell, gods I'm going to choke on cherry blossom." Rabastan had held his cackle. But since it was one of the only last senses that were working for her, he cleared the room with the flick of her wand.
"Perhaps Rabastan can help you into this in a bit, but I brought pillows and blankets." Her husband was fairly grateful, although Cissy had brought him a change of clothes as well as a few comforts. She had also informed the Dark Lord of the situation.
The Dark Lord sends his best.
"Is Reg coming?"
"I'm picking him up at lunchtime, your mother however is a bit of a worry." Aurora's demeanor shifted and she sighed.
"Figures as much, is she telling all her gals over tea the 'I told you so's'?" The silence was indeed telling as she hit the nail on the head. Already? Bloody already has her mother turned over her shoulder for the gossip.
Cissy also supplied Rabastan with an addition of the newspaper and he huffed in aggravation as well. Since Aurora had been the most noted member of the classroom she had been listed beside Damocles, as he was the damned arsehole who caused this.
"How did the paper spin it?"
"It's pretty accurate, they've mentioned you by name." Aurora snuggled further into the blanket as she thought of that, shouldn't her school protect her in that regard?
Freedom of the press be damned, screw them.
"As if they'd be getting any interviews," Rabastan growled, folding the paper and turning to the food Cissy had brought as well.
"Eat." Cissy pushed, and Aurora didn't miss the sound of his hair shacking around.
"Will you eat for me then?... The potions aren't giving me an appetite." He sighed, scowling at the proud grin Cissy was beaming to her brother in law.
She indeed had him wrapped around her finger, a simple batting of her eyelashes he'd probably do anything. Although with the new clothes and the extra comfort, it allowed Aurora to get another counted bit of sleep.
But it was interrupted by the need of eye drops, or the causal talking of Rabastan and Otto.
"Sleep alright love?" She hummed and pulled the blanket further up her body. "Rose made cookies?"
"Testament to your senses Aurora, a reason as to how you know what Damocles had been using?" She shrugged and began rubbing her eyes.
"Rory..." Rabastan warned and she blinked tightly as it was starting to burn. "Rory do you need the nurse?" She nodded, and when her eyes opened the clear view of irritation and redness shined brightly.
"Stay son, I'll get him." Aurora couldn't feel any difference between keeping her eyes open and closed. And Merlin was it painful when she began to cry from the pain.
The doctor administered another comfort potion and lowered the amount of drops a day to every four hours now. Unfortunately when Regulus dropped by, Aurora was still under the first dose of new drought.
"Reg decided to stop at the manner, thought Rory would want—" Meow!
Rabastion groaned, as if he could escape his wife's demon cat. "Omen this is a hospital, quiet down." A playful hiss rallied, and it was enough for Aurora to pop and eye open to check if her vision returned.
It hadn't.
"Omey?" She called out, and the sudden plop onto the bed and purring up to her chest caused all her worries to dissipate.
"Whoa, Rory...Your eyes..." She rolled them, not completely out of character but she yawned and continued to turn her gaze with every heartbeat.
"Come here..." She breathes, and instantly Regulus threw himself in for a hug. Rory giggled as her kid brother seeming tackled her back to the pillows, while Omen safely disbanded towards her feet in service to what is happening.
"I'm right here Reg, I'm alright."
"Don't do that again, please don't do that again." She kissed his cheek, a straight in miss to where she usually gives one. "As the universe?" She whispered, and Regulus struggled to retain all his emotion, he completely failed come last night when he was completely alone.
But here he was, in the arms of his sister who could no longer see...
"So the soul." Rabastan had listened intently, her brother would know the little sayings unlike himself.
He promised from here on out that he would look into it further for his wife, especially when her belief would need in these coming weeks.
"Ease up, this one's loopy as could be."
"Sod off Lestrange." She teased back, and her giggling persona had uplifted those around her.
And thank goodness it had.
Omen was completely content in her mother's hold, having missed her for the coming days she snuggled directly at her chin and her entire body weight provided a comfort. Those around her were entertaining. Rose especially as she acted like a doting mother...Unlike her own.
Orion had made an appearance, unfortunately it was after another comfort drought was proscribed and she was even looper than prior.
None of the doctors had rightly cared about Omen's presence, as long as there was no disturbance and the cat wouldn't be let loose than there really wasn't any problem with it.
However, the nurse had just woken up Aurora for another dosage of the drops and she smiles off into the black nothingness before her.
The shuffling around her already told her that it was indeed the nurse, and she sighed.
"Is he asleep?" The nurse had said he had been asleep for the past hour and Aurora shook her head.
"Don't wake him up, please...He needs rest." The nurse had been instructed to wake him up for every dosage, but the man hadn't woke up from ether gentle tap. The husband defiantly needed to sleep.
When the husband finally woke up in the early hours of the morning, his wife was still asleep, how he could be envious of that bloody cat was appalling. But he craved her body close to his, granted he took his leave just for the small moment of stretching his legs and needing a breath of air.
He was greeted by a few familiar faces, and he peered down to the ground layer to see paparazzi down below. The doctors continual warned the family about the patient to hospital office confidentiality.
If he found one bloody word on Aurora's condition he wasn't scared to sue the damn hospital and cause an uproar. Someone was going to pay, and the Dark Lord would be all too eager to protect their kind.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Remus was simply enjoying a fresh brew of tea as was battling a semi-hangover. However the waiting daily prophet had been out in the opening causing him to spit out his tea.
Dareth Academy had been on the first bloody page after a potion incident. And what prompted his chair to scratch against the floor was because Aurora had been named as one of the students injured.
"SIRIUS!" He yelled, and already a groan called into the air. "FUCK SIRIUS THIS INSTANT, GET UP DAMNIT!"
"Sod off Moons...Sleep." Remus summoned a tonic and sent a patronus to both Lily and James at what happened. Perhaps while he controlled Sirius' outrage, his friends could be already on the way. SSo with the tonic pouring down the sides of his mate's mouth did he groaned into the air.
"Merlin sakes Sirius, LOOK!" This was on account the second time someone had to give him the news from what the paper said.
So as the Gryffindor skimmed the article until he jumped to his feet.
"W-what...No...No moony, tell—tell me it's wrong..." The werewolf had no more information than what the paper said, it seemed like the Black's and Lestrange's were keeping her heavily guarded as well. They were a little late in hearing about the explosion, but as Lily explained as she burst into the room with James in tow...Moody was going to investigate it, granted the entire thing was under investigation anyhow. But the lack of response of Aurora caused a bit of fear.
Especially into her friends.
Dumbledore trusted that the young witch would manage to contact them when she gets the chance. But with her brother in a panic, it proved futile to relinquish his worries.
When Rabastan returned ten minutes or so later, he found his wife not in bed...But by the window, with his discarded jacket around her shoulders.
"Love? What are you doing out of bed?" He called out, and out of clear courtesy did she turn her gaze of behind her shoulder.
"I had to use the loo, I'm glad you took a walk...You shouldn't be cooped up here with me." He scoffed, coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her small figure. Whatever potion concoction his wife was taking made her appetite close to nothing, and whatever she attempted to actually eat came back up an hour late.
Causing another potion to be administered so she would be getting the daily nutrition requirement.
"I was just getting a coffee, I'm sorry I wasn't here when you woke up." His apologizing was met with a roll of her strange eyes.
"No need to apologize, though I must look like a nut case whispering out your name." Her cheerful attitude was still bright, but unfortunately that was due to the fact she still has hope.
The potions were currently not working, but the diagnostic was already deemed to be temporary blindness. That and it's only been three days? She couldn't rightly tell.
"Omen didn't tell you?" With the call out of her name, she shared her own words of displeasure, and Aurora giggled. "The sun feels nice."
"Perhaps we can go for a walk, they have a lovely courtyard with—" he was about to tell her about the beautiful fountain, but the woman in his arms wouldn't be able to witness it.
"It's alright...But my eyes are still a bit sensitive to sunlight. We'll need to ask if it's alright." He kissed her cheek, but after another few minutes he ushered her back into bed like she was a child.
"Reg's coming today."
"Hm, and you're leaving for an hour." He was taken back, which clearly showed, but again his wife couldn't see the look on his face.
"No pouting, you need to tell your parents what happened and what is going to happen." He pouted further that she managed to call him out on it, but he supposed an hour wouldn't be too bad. A shower, a moment to actually talk to his parents and the Dark Lord.
He agreed, but Regulus came in all excited over the fact that he had brought a book. And not just any book, it was a starter book of braille.
"Merlin Rory you must be bored out of your mind, at least now you can do something." He offered, and his gift instantly threw her into a fit of tears. Part of her was happy, but it had been a clear cut reminder that she wouldn't be able to read books normally anymore.
Her brother apologized profusely, but she ended his worries with a hug and a quick thank you showing that she appreciated the gift.
After her small bout of crying, she kicked Rabastan out and enjoyed her time with her brother and Narcissa. Her father made an appearance, a small sharing of her favorite roses, and these were a beautiful light shade of blue.
However his daughter managed to know it was him, her smile widened and connected distantly to his presence at the door. "Give you three guesses who that is?"
"I made father's cologne too Reg." The boy groaned, nobody was going to get passed her without making themselves scentless.
"Where's Rabastan?"
"Rory kicked him out." She nudged his side and explained to her father what happened. "I see you received all the gifts just fine then?" Her eyes narrowed, she didn't rightly understand how many baskets and goods had been stationed at the corner of the window. But neither of her family members were going to go into detail.
Instead he had been talking with Otto, he was working effortlessly in an attempt to find a manageable cure.
When Rabastan returned he saw his father in law in his seat aiding his daughter in trying to understand the brail before her, it was just simple letters but he knew his Ravenclaw...She would get it in no time.
Without even a moment in the doorway a smile brightened on his wife's face. "Bloody psychic," Regulus mumbled as he scratched at Omen's neck. The two of them were close as well, and partly because of the treats he snuck from dinner.
Bribery.
Aurora had held her hand out in waiting for Rabastan to come near, and he certainly had as her hand instantly interlocked with his.
"Otto came in with the specialist." She mumbled, and Rabastan knew that something was going to happen when he was gone. Granted the Dark Lord wanted more than an update, he wanted to inform that Rabastan would be missing as Aurora was more of a concern than his duties as a Death Eater for a moment.
"And?"
"It would be best if Cassi is . sent to Germany." She swallowed unsteadily, granted she liked being in her home country...But Germany?
"I won't let my wife be a test subject." He growled, squeezing her hand in damnation.
"Raba I won't be. I trust Otto." Rabastan knew his wife was scared, and right now he needed to be calm and collected for her.
Not to continue being selfish.
"It's only for a few days." Regulus sighed, he truly wanted his sister to be there for when he was heading off to Hogwarts. But now it would be impossible to make her do so at the current moment.
