The night, in Lily's opinion, couldn't have gone any slower. She couldn't believe Aurora had fallen asleep, granted the woman looked overworked as is...But honestly, the nerve!
She had barely dove in on what to expect during her honeymoon, she wanted tips and tricks.
When the alarm clock finally rang she sprung up in utter relief while Aurora peeked her eye open and turned around. "Merlin have you Lils, it's 7 am."
"I—I have to shower, and shave and—" Aurora yawned and shook her head, this girl needed a bath and pronto.
Mrs.Lestrange lead Lily to the bathroom and instructed her to wait until the bathwater rose while she would return with another gift.
Soothing bath oils and salts.
The only time Lily has ever really had a bath was at Hogwarts, but these lavish products did the trick while Aurora washed through the red head's hair. It was there that Lily asked her questions and Aurora aided all she could, realistically there was only so much she could do in terms of preparation.
When Mrs.Potter arrived into the room, Lily was sporting a towel around her head and chest to cover her decency. But that's when Aurora pulled out a silk robe and offered it on up.
"It...It's so soft..." She breathed, and it was indeed a dangerous play for Aurora to be leaving evidence of her stay but truthfully? Lily deserved to be treated like a princess.
Aurora left the room for a solid minute before running into her brother. "Merlin Rory, almost didn't recognize you for a second."
"Is that your way of telling me I look like shite?" Sirius knew a damnable amount of women and this was already starting off to run down a difficult road to return from.
"Nonono, it's just...You look normal." His soft smile aided him as her features toned down. Whether he was being a git or not that comment truly made her feel better.
"How's Evan's?"
"Can't keep calling her that Siri, she'll be Mrs.Potter by the end of today." He huffed at his sister's banter, and as he was about to counter it with a barely passable joke his little sister found herself going in for a hug.
"I was looking for you...At my wedding...Stupid really, just—" His arms tightened around Rory's small frame. He wondered if she was eating better, if Rabastan was at least decent in their home.
"How's the git then?"
"Which one are you referring to?" He blinked, causing her to sigh out in damnation.
"Snape was at the ceremony too, but I suppose you're talking about Rabastan?" It was a small bit of insight, though he really couldn't be all that shocked to hear that Snape had turned to the Death Eaters and already bears the mark.
"Yeah, how's the bastard?"
"Alright I suppose, he's been working a lot with his father at the ministry. What about you lot, you're the ones working yourself to the bones." Sirius shook his head, but smiled in seeing his sister so healthy and happy.
"We manage just as well as you have, wouldn't be half as far as we are without you." She snorted, but took the comment as is.
"What you can do is keep your flat in order, honestly do I have to get you an elf?" Sirius knew that his mates were going to throw a fit, but honestly he had enough of house-elves after Kreacher.
So he promised right then that he'd do his best to clean and keep it so.
James had come downstairs and instantly it had Rory go manic to tell him to head off to get ready. With that being ordered she returned to see Lily attempting to go through the muggle process of doing her hair and it threw Mrs.Lestrange into another panic.
"Oh nonono, darling let me do your hair." That took Lily by surprise as her entire aura brightened.
"R-really?! I was going to have Alice o-or Marlene to just—"
"Nonsense, I have a few ideas already. Sit sit!" The bride took that directive just as her fiancee had followed after what Rory had told him to, they both needed a firm hand to get them through the day.
Lily watched in awe as Aurora tackled the thick locks before her, but with the help of magic and the creativity on the Ravenclaw's side...The girl was done with a few minutes to spare.
"There, it's perfect. You can get into your dress there...Mrs.Potter?" Aurora called out, which had Sirius peek his head inside and come on in.
"Hell Rory, are you a hairstylist now too?"
"From what I remember you used to help me braid my hair." He groaned into the air and tried to keep his cheeks from advertising how embarrassed he was from that secret being released.
And Evan's laughter wasn't helping.
"How's James?"
"Prongs is sweating through his dress robes...You raid Rory's closet?" He knew his sister's style anywhere, the earrings, the hairpiece...The robe? It was higher classed and he could only imagine which relative bought what piece or how much they spent in giving a mindless gift.
"Husband spoil you Rory?"
"Actually wanted to talk to you about that...Later?" He shrugged, but truly wanted to know now rather than later.
"Come on Rory, I wanna drink tonight." She was setting in Lily's last finishing touches on her make up, avoiding eye contact to the Gryffindors beside her.
"I've stored some money away...Just in case."
"In case? In case of what?" A knowing eye only told the worst of any theories, which caused Lily to grip Rory's wrist as it stopped her action to explain what she meant.
"If I need a getaway?...I'll be in America, Arizona sounds brilliant. I want to see a thunderbird." It confused the two considerably but it would be obvious if she escaped simply to Salem.
"How'd you get—"
"I walked into the Lestrange vault and took some coins. I have a whole manner to furnish, if a few thousand Galleons of inner costs on the couches or paintings then who is really watching?" Lily was in awe, bloody awe as Rory had managed to keep a given stockpile of a backup plan.
"You...You're a genius, you know that?"
"Course, Dumbledore gave me that award himself." She winked at her brother, it was then decided that Lily was done, all she needed was her dress but that was already being transported by Mrs.Potter apparently.
"Getting dressed to sis?" She hummed but shooed him off, a quick apparent by Rory was fueled as she was lead off to the bride's quarters. Both Alice and Mary were already there, a tackling embrace of the other two Gryffindors caused a bit of relief in her mind.
"Lily your hair's beautiful!" Alice cheered, which Lily credited to Aurora within seconds.
"Oh thank goodness, I was practicing all weekend and I would've botched it." A light smile graced the room as Aurora summoned the dress into the air as it unbuttoned itself as it was all prepared for the girl to step into.
"LILY EVANS WHAT IN MERLINS NAME ARE THOSE?!" Alice screamed, and it had Rory flinch at the volume beside her.
"They only have two days to enjoy themselves as a married couple Alice, come now." Sure it was good fun, but it was nerve-wracking to say the least.
With Lily now all stuffed into her gown, Aurora flocked around her and settled in the veil. Though it was Remus who interrupted their bustling to get all prepared.
Aurora was simply in her own silk robe when she peeked open the door. "Remmy...Please tell me we have ten minutes left."
"Oh no, I mean yes...About twenty-five or so, James wanted Lily to have this if..." Aurora opened the door and allowed one of the three best mates as it evened out with Lilys three best gals.
Their wedding was anything but traditional, which refreshed Rory's mind entirely.
"Aurora get dressed! You said you'd do my hair!" He indeed walked in at an odd time, but the girl hurried behind the divider while Remus stood in awe at the chaos in here.
"You look beautiful Lily."
"Thank you Remus, how's James...Is he still sweating?" The werewolf chuckled and shook his head. "No Pads gave him a cooling charm, but he wanted you to have this." He repeated, causing the bride to take the given package and crack open the lid.
Aurora came out with a very normal styled dress, it was on the lower end of her usual spending. But even then was it gorgeous, even if it was a soft purple.
"What the hell is that?" Rory questioned, seeing small little papers flying up and around the room. There must've been a dozen or so, but they were flying so fast that Rory couldn't identify what animal it was.
But Lily's reaction of a giggle meant there was a meaning behind whatever it was. "I...I told him in fourth year I would go out with him when pigs fly." It caused Aurora's mouth to open in question, but Remus leaned in and explained it was a muggle excuse. 'when pigs fly' as in never.
"That's bloody adorable, damn...He finally has it in him." She whispered back, Merlin was Remus adoring this time with Aurora without them. Sure it was a risk, but what wasn't a risk now a days?
Remus was forced to head off as the girls continued to get ready, however as it was finally time to leave Lily in the company of her father was it Aurora time to mingle with the groom and the mates.
"Beautiful as always Rory."
"Please, her pajamas look fancier than this." She rolled her eyes and leaned in, sure it'd make her brother angry saying her nightwear enjoyed an upgrade...But it was his fault for starting it.
He tackled her with his arms around her shoulder and pinning her into his chest.
"Well isn't this cute. Mrs.Lestrange, a moment?" The gruff voice of Alastor caused Aurora to untangle herself from her brother, but distracted him with a quick kiss on his cheek.
"Been sitting for a solid night, finished brewing just this weekend." She smiled and took the vial to hide it within her dresses' cups. "Thank you Alastar...I don't want to jinx an attack but—"
"Constant vigilance Mrs.Lestrange." She nodded at the reminder and took to sharing a bit of information to both him and Dumbledore himself.
"When telling him about my visit to Salem he had it marked on the calendar that it's the Potter's wedding...I didn't press but I'm sure they'll be looking in different directions if they realize it's false." It was indeed a fear, but Rory was proud of seeing her work, almost as much of adoring the idea of this small scaled wedding, knowing the guests, not needing to entertain anyone specific.
Not needing to do a damn thing but enjoy herself.
And after the ceremony, it kicked off into gear to become a full-fledged Gryffindor common room party, especially to Sirius' standards. The dancing was pure, not planned, impulsive and not in sequence with one another. Even if Remus stepped on her shoes a hundred times, the two enjoyed the damned time as it was settling between dancing with all the Marauders.
Whatever it was, whether that Remus was tipsy or drunk on the smell of Aurora's perfume...It caused him to be the perfect gentleman, something that Lily did indeed catch.
But then again his secret was out to the entire group, Sirius was watching with a protective gaze as well...
The only reason that the brother was alright with this is because she's already married.
And Sirius warned him not to try anything. Not that Remus would act on it now...The kiss that happened over Christmas at the Potter's was never discussed again. Remus rightly wondered if Aurora remembered, she had been fairly drunk...
Of course the Ravenclaw recalled it, he was the only other person she's kissed other than Rabastan...
However, all good things must come to an end, especially since a given rat had squealed on the location of the wedding. Considering everyone attending is an Order member, did it strain Aurora as she stood completely still in the event of the raid. To disrupt the peace.
Merlin was she in danger.
And Merlin was her husband close by.
Rabastan had been one of the many who had volunteered for such an attack, planned it. Even when he claimed to be attending a meeting this had resulted much better than aiding his father's work.
Meaning he skipped another business venture to put input into what's about to transpire.
It was all in due service to shooting a few curses off to his traitorous brother in law.
This was the payback he would provide for leaving Rory, for leaving Reg...All at the mercy of Walburga.
Rabastan held no patience nor hesitation on this said heist, since it was all the Gryffindor scum that lingered within the hall.
Both Remus and Sirius had caught the shocked notion of Aurora and gripped either of her hands to pull her away from the action. "They see her they'll—"
"They won't." The werewolf was the first to share his worries, while Sirius had downplayed the hesitation. But with the lock of apparenting out, it dragged out the first idea of an escape plan.
"Plan B." She hissed, taking back the likes of her arms as she stuck her hand down the front of her dress.
"Merlin Rory what the bloody fuck are you—" She took out the small vial that was planted, downing it within the second had her features suddenly change into that of a random muggle.
Her luscious Black hair slowly turned into a lighter shade, a prominently blonde streak that caused her to take out the clips. With her hair covering her face it altered to a petite muggle.
"Moony, get her back to the flat...I'll meet you when it's—" Aurora took out her wand as she followed the crowd and threw her own hex to whomever was first in the rally of death eaters.
In attempted to not look like a pureblood relic did she tear and burn. The likes of her dress while attacking the uninvited guests.
However, leave it to Mrs.Lestrange to strike her own husband and brother in law with a nasty curse.
Yet it was the combination of Aura's, Moody and Rory that finally lifted the curse that bounded them to the property from allowing the people to pop out. Yet when that was finished, Remus had taken a tackle to Aurora and teleported back to the flat.
The rush of the rough transport almost splattered the both of them as Rodolphus had sent a finalizing curse as he saw the two leave.
Little did he know it was his beloved little sister.
"ARE YOU BLOODY MAD WE HAVE TO GO BACK!" She screamed and protested, but fell to the floor as she gripped her arm in agony. Remus too had shared the stakes in the strip of the eldest Lestrange's curse.
Aurora summoned her trunk and dug through the given clothes and downed the second and third potion of the night to reverse the effects of the poly juice potion as well as a remedy to the curse. But as she had struggled to look for the given potions was Remus suffering, so as she crawled over towards him, she poured it directly to the wound instead of intaking said potion orally.
"Remus...Remus darling. It's alright...Hey, hey...Moony. It's me." She soothed, knowing full well his idea of pain revolved around the moon's cycle. He didn't deserve this extra burden.
"Rory?... You came?" He whispered, obviously drugged to the same caliber as she was. So she placed her forehead down. To his stomach and he sighed. Both in relief.
Yet it was a mere moment later when Sirius had burst into the air to look at his fallen family.
"Rory...Are you—" She smiled up to her brother and leaned in further to his hold as he takes her planted head onto his shoulder and secures her in place. Noting that Aurora's hand was still strongly secured in Remus'.
This was an eye-opener indeed...
