Night came far too quickly, or for Aurora's case not soon enough. The idea of a full night's rest in their bed, with the comfort of her pillows as well as a crackling fire in the background?
It was all she could possibly ask for.

Rabastan had caught his wife hovering as he had earlier, causing him to smile.

It hit him before, that nothing...Absolutely nothing will get in the way of his family.

So as he wrapped his arms around her, settling his head on her shoulder did they watch their daughter softly asleep while Rommy was still looking up to both him mum and now his papa with wide and curious eyes.

The game Rory was currently playing, wiggling her finger and going in to tap his nose always caused him to recoil back.
"Little Rommy is doing just fine, isn't that right darling?" She giggled as his breath was far too close for her not to feel. Rabastan found himself all the more in love with his wife after all that transpired, especially when she spoke to them as if they could understand her.

"Rory...I swear it on my life that I will protect the three of you." He spoke, and it earned him a sweet and tender kiss high on his cheek. Words couldn't explain the endearing dedication that she had for either of them, but had the kids rose above Rabastan?

 Yes.

Rommy had started to drift at the comfort of his parents protecting him, so his head soon tilted to the side and was amiss to stay up any longer.
"He's asleep love, he's alright." He chuckled, knowing his wife needed the reminder. They were both new parents, this hovering was going to be a hard habit to crack.

"Just...Just another moment." She whispered back, and he hummed as he too didn't want to leave just yet.

"Two little miracles..." She cooed, which caused him to tighten his hold all the more.

To think just a few days ago when he couldn't manage to do this around the full length of her stomach, but now it had already shrunk down more or less to normal size.

Course her breasts were plump, achy on her account but he didn't know that just yet.

Yet he couldn't complain of the size, instead he returned to kiss to gain her attention.

"They'll be here in the morning and for the rest of our lives love, rest...They'll keep you up for sure." She nodded, turning back to the covers and finally curling up with the comfort of her pillow between her legs.

Though sleep had been anything but uninterrupted...

Romulus had woken up a few times during the night, but not as much as his sister...They were either hungry, upset or the casual aloneness. Since mummy was just beside him, she would pick them up oh so carefully to not wake up the other babe and take them off to a separate room.

Rabastan was taken by surprise on how much the babies needed to eat, or get burped, or be social. It was strange and nothing in the book rightly introduced all that needed to be learned.

It was on instinct more or less.

So when he was awakened by Rommy's gurgles and half cries he started to wake up on his own as well. Shuffling towards the little one, causing him to erupt with a smile.

"Alright lad, what's the matter?" The baby gave a firm kick out of the firmly wrapped blanket.

"Hey now son, what'd we say about backtalk?" He was quick to follow another vocal expression from his father with another one, now involving the use of his tongue to raspberry his lips together.

So he lifted his son up in search of mummy bear, but when he met the image of her feeding Halsey in the rocking chair off in the corner. Caused him to tread carefully.

He adored seeing the two bonding over something as simple as milk and breasts...And it hit him right then and there, he knew now that the Dark Lord wouldn't be able to tear her away from the kids.

"I know what you mean now..." He whispered, she hadn't known he was watching, much less having Rommy in his arms as well. But she smiled up to him never the less.

"Which part?" She questioned, so he took that as a ticket of entry, sitting down on the leg rest while getting a better hold on his son.

"That the Dark Lord wouldn't be able to use you when you're here with them, you're safe..." She looked up to him so tiredly, and to be fair Aurora hadn't had a break in her life. Yet now here they were, just nineteen and onto twenty into parenthood.

"I always thought we were too young, with marriage and having children, but seeing you with them...You're a natural." He spoke, watching her in complete adoration as before.

"I think we'll be sleeping in this morning...Do you think we'll have any visitors?" Rabastan shook his head, nobody was going to bombard a new mother and father when they were getting used to their new lives.

"Nope, suppose they'll be our alarm clock...Seeing as how it takes less than one call from them to wake you up compared to the eight on my end." She snickered into her shoulder, trying not to gain the attention of the babies as she was drained out of milk at the moment.

Luckily Halsey was all set and so she detached from her mother and waved her arms in curiosity. Leaving her to curl up and under her mother's chin, getting the very loud rhythm of her mummy's heartbeat.

"Yeah papa didn't mean that, did he?... I don't think so." His heart continued to swell even further every single time he was called papa.

Luckily the babies slept through straight until morning, Daisy came in and offered to dress them for the day. But he refused as they were still sleeping. It was still some getting used to in hearing the elves call the little ones master and mistress when they were just over a week old.

Rabastan kissed his wife before rising for the day, he could get sleep later. Right now his father was issuing a few assignments his way.

"R-Raba?"
"Go back to sleep love. Just going to get a few things done before those two are up." She hummed, and her husband wasted no time pulling the blanket further up his wife's body.

Her stomach had mildly returned to normal, though her breasts were unmistakably the same size.

The days went insanely fast as the two parents were at the whims of their children. Merlin one cry could halt whatever they were doing previous to amuse them.

"What did you call them this morning?" Rabastan called out, attempting to find the toy Rommy had dropped earlier, but it was in a sea of other stuffies that the elves had cleaned up.

"Oh, Munchkins? How could I not give them that name, did you see Rommy's cheeks?" Rory was holding the little fellow right now, brushing her nose against the child's as it fired up giggles.

"Aren't you a lil Munchkin, hmm? Yes you are!" Rabastan kept the growing smile to himself as he pulled up the given toy. And groaned as he realized what animal it was representing.

"Our son is going to be a Ravenclaw." She turned to look at her husband and his theory, but the attention Rommy was giving to the eagle was indeed telling.

"He could just like birds."
"Then we have that in common as well." She allowed a kiss, but the telling eye threatened him to stay to himself.

She was going to be angry for a long time.

"Your wand is still in my study if—"
"The healers said I should stay away from using any magic." He didn't know if it was truly safe her without her wand, even in emergencies.

"Did you still want me to owl your mother?" Though her face turned stern at the mention, she still nodded.
"I suppose, but make sure that my father and Reg come as well." The man hummed along as that was a good plan.

They had made it a point never to have Walburga babysit or nanny the children even before she was even pregnant. And here they were now, separating the grandmother from previous promises and on the account of being poisoned by Ghalax.

Not to mention what it did to Aurora's image, a potion mistress getting poisoned?

It was a godsend that the truth was out that it wasn't her doing, as no witch would be that desperate in taking the potion. And certainly not in this generation.

Instead the two were greeted by the quick feet of Daisy who said that they had visitors. Rabastan was the first into going down whomever to come another day, but the hopeful look on Regulus was far too difficult to say no to.

"Not fair at all! I have to go back to Hogwarts in a few weeks." Rabastan scoffed as it was indeed true, though he was sure that Rory would send her brother pictures if he asked.

"And your parents allowed you to come?"

"Course not, I said I was going to the Carrows. Mother's been waiting for an owl." They both shared a grim face, and it allowed Rabastan to explain what was going to happen by the end of the week, regarding a family gathering.

Granted they didn't want Malfoy to come, but leaving out Cissy while inviting Bella was wrong on many accounts.

Aurora was currently dressing little Halsey in another outfit, she was indeed caught by not only her husband but her brother as well.

"And what do we have here?"

"I just wanted to see how she would look in this little dress, look at her!" The newborn was sporting a beautiful dress that most likely cost the same as Regulus' textbooks this final semester.

Speaking of her brother he was worried that she would be upset on coming unannounced. But she smiled up to the young wizard and held Halsey close.

"Look who it is Munchkin, it's uncle Reggie!" The baby didn't understand a word of what her mummy said, but a new face was entirely interesting as she tried to squeeze her hand to her uncle.

"C-can I hold her?" Rabastan put a hand on his brother and nodded, he soon sat in front of his sister on the floor to hold his little niece, who looked all to ready to be the center of attention.

"Bit much for a baby isn't it?"
"Not at all." Halsey might've looked interested in Regulus, but the second she was going to the arms of her uncle she started to panic.

Unnerved pouts and her threatening to cry caused Aurora to shake her head down to her little girl. "She doesn't like me." Regulus huffed, and Aurora rolled her eyes as she began folding a blanket.

But before Rory was able to respond, Rabastan jumped in.

"That's cause they both know where the food lies, I'm just a pair of arms."
"And I'm just the food, they're babes Reg...When they're a little older they start having favorites." Rabastan heard the calls of Romulus and he hurried on over to the crib to get him.

When Aurora offered her hands he shook his head. "You said you were going to rest for a bit."

"They're still up...I'm fine." Regulus narrowed his eyes towards his sister who laid back into the comfy carpet causing her brother to chuckle.

At least his sister still acted the same.

Her uncle's laughter prompted Halsey to start laughing as well, even though she hadn't a clue what it was about. Regulus looked at either of the witch's parents in fear of doing something wrong but Rabastan shook his head while his wife was relaxing into the carpet.

If anything, his wife's actions were the most questionable.

"I'm shocked there's no projector in here yet." Rabastan hadn't rightly paid attention as to what his wife responded with, considering how damn painful the burn had been.

Though the Dark Lord knew not to summon Rory, so it was only fatal call.

"Aurora." He called out, and the firmness of his voice had her raise her head in confusion as she was about to ask what was wrong.

But one look was fart too telling, even Regulus managed to understand.

"I'll stay until you come back." The brother offered, and it was indeed helpful as Rory was more than likely to over-analyze the situation anyhow.

Just a meeting.

Just a meeting. Or that's what she kept whispering in her head.

He hurried down to give his wife an adoring kiss before he kissed either of his children. A firm nod reminded Regulus of his job at the moment.

Being the man of the house that is.

Aurora rolled her eyes to herself as she took Romulus into her arms from her husband and he hurried out to the meeting. Aurora's seat would be empty for quite some time, and she wasn't entirely against the fact that someone else would take her place.

She hoped that was the case

With Romulus flattened out on his mummy's chest he snuggled further, prompting Halsey to want the same. But she found comfort in her uncle's hold as he laid down beside his sister.

"Daisy...? Could you set up the projector? It's in the closet." The elf was swift with the actions, it was a newer one with different astronomy marks and better pictures, but the babies were staring wide-eyed and hypnotized at the moving images before them.

"I'd like to add ten galleons to them being Ravenclaw," Regulus whispered, and Aurora shook her head to her brother's taunt.

"Slytherin or Ravenclaw, I'm just glad they're here."

"They're here and you're here." Aurora knew her brother and Rabastan were still feeling the effects of almost losing her again. But Regulus started to grind on the back ends of his jaw.

"You forgave him?"
"Not completely no, he has to work for it. I know I had a failsafe if something happened to me...And I expected that he was going to be depressed or..." Words began to fail her, and she felt sick talking ill of the children's father all in front of them.

"He's a git and I'm just angry I didn't get another curse on him."
"Regulus." The stern voice rallied their mother, so much so that Halsey had hid further away from her mum's anger.

"Sorry—Well, not entirely sorry." She closed her eyes and breathed out in the content of both relief and strain.

"Are you feeling better?" A smile appeared before her answer, it was true. She was feeling fantastic and on a mother high when. Seeing all the little firsts of her babies.

"I stand by what I said, that it's different now that these two are here..."
"Merlin if this is the talk about having children, I think I've heard it enough." She scoffed into the air and began to lose her mind.

"I know it's unfair Reg, that we're both given the weight on our shoulders in getting heirs. But I didn't think like that in the beginning, you know I ignored mother about it. But think about it, the Black family name in the hands of you or Sirius?" He didn't know how he felt in being mentioned in the same sentence as their brother, granted whatever child he has will surely be unpure.

"Do you know if I'm set to marry anyone yet?" She shook her head, feeling rather guilty about the lack of knowledge about it.

"I'd tell you if I knew, but I'm sure she's going to be a sweetheart, and if not...I'll set her straight." His brow rose, would his sister actually scare his future wife?
He surely hoped not, though he was aware of just how many offers he had stacked up on his mother's desk.

He did envy those who had a choice, or appeased the idea of a choice. He was happier that his sister lucked out with someone she was happy with, though he's a monster git at the moment. He couldn't believe that it was always like that.

"So what's this about the family coming over?"
"Just a small gathering, you're always welcomed to drop by Reg don't question that for a moment...It's just going to be hectic now with these munchkins." He was taking his uncle responsibilities serious and held his niece close, and the fact that she was content to stay with him was all the more adoring.

"Did you want to stay the night?" Reg shook his head, he'd simply go home after her husband return. After a quick word on when he was going to be incited and if they should mention it just yet.

He wanted his sister to be proud of him, but she herself didn't have the mark. Though they claim it's because of the Dark Lord's obsession on her being a seer, it's clear that Rory is more of an outside source or wife.

"Merlin Reg, you don't know how much I want a drink of wine." He didn't understand why she couldn't, though he did know that it would hurt the little ones while in her tum but now?

She explained and he groaned into the air, sounding entirely awful from still being denied certain foods.

The rest of the day was spent humoring the likes of these little twins.

Rabastan, unfortunately, didn't return until late. Very late as he found Reg simply reading in the foyer. "Aurora asleep?"
"Yeah, crashed about two hours ago." The young wizard had caught the flinch, neither had really talked since Regulus had sent a curse. Though it was in protection of his sister, and he stands behind the act...He didn't know where he stood with his brother anymore. Not like he ever cursed Sirius.

"The initiation ceremony is—"
"In a few days...The Dark Lord is rather excited to get a move on, lucky for you and your mates that you don't have to wait." Regulus was still unsure, but he didn't allow the hesitation to showcase any near his brother.

Difficult, but not impossible.

"Best if I get home, goodnight." A smile crept up on Rabastan but in pure sibling fashion had Regulus given his brother the same narrowing gaze in shutting his thoughts.

"Still a git Lestrange, you're lucky my sister has a heart. Unlike someone in our family." It seemed like growing up in the Black family house they already came with a protective shield and damn good comebacks to already high tension situations.

The master of the house had started going up the main stairs as he sighed out loud after making it to the top. Gods a year into marriage and two children...

His parents were proud of him, but he was questionably shifting to wether his little wife was as proud.

Was she happy?

It felt like they had this conversation before, and there was no time to remedy the situation as she shared that she was indeed pregnant.

Actually one of the best day of his life.
Right beside their wedding and...Their wedding night.

Though he wished the birth was different, it wasn't anything anyone could change. He hurried along to the master bedroom and attempted to silently continue into the room.

Yet his wife was indeed awake, her glasses on and she looked as she was writing away.

Her eyes popped up and a smile formed. "Well hello there." She whispered out, the light snoring of the babes already filled the room and now he too came forward.

"They missed papa."
"And mummy didn't miss papa?" She perked her lips and pretended to think. And the more time that passed between the question, the antsier he turned.

As he came closer she gripped the likes of his collar and pulled him down for a sweet kiss, chaste of course but it was enough for him to not feel out of tune with his wife.

"You know I do." He hummed and added one more quick kiss before pulling away, a quick shower and then off to bed. However the letter she was writing was tempting, but she hid it away.

"No peeks." Now it just rallied him in wanting to know further, though she hid it further and blocked it with her body.

His brow rose and cocked a tilt in confusion as he wanted to know what this entailed.
"No. Peeks." His thoughts instantly drew into darker thoughts, but her growing smile invested that she was innocent.

For now.

"No peeks, but a hint?"
"I had an idea for a project, I just wanted to pitch it to Otto...Or not really pitch it but just ask if it's worth it." She was more than cleared after that, but unfortunately for her, he hadn't let up.

Gods he wasn't prepared for her to have an idea, and a proud grin never leaving his face as he lapped an arm around her protectively.

"Do I get another hint?"
"Tomorrow...When it's figured out..." She yawned, more than likely already falling back to sleep. He littered her cheek and neck with kisses, practically living for the fact a smile continued to loom on and off her face in the midst of her being in deep sleep.

Yes, he was indeed lucky that his wife was forgiving and kind.

So I'm trying to plan ahead, and it's troubling because I don't know if I want the next book to be in the POV of the children or Rory. More so focusing on the Golden Trio Era and when the twins are in Hogwarts.

But I've hit writers block, so maybe I'll leave that for another day 😂
