It was the first summer since the twins returned home from Salem, their arrival did indeed bring up their mum's attitude as it was indeed a full house yet again.
And with the warm weather settling in, Rory broke out all the brooms and allowed the children to roam free in a controlled setting, though the twins had flying lessons at school, it was an adorable sight for them to teach Cara and Ronan the basics like their mother had for them in the previous years.
Rory had taken the liberty of flying with Lori in her grasp, and the rather ironic notice of Omen wanting a graceful ride too, considering she had been watching from the porch the entire morning.
"I think I've seen it all, should I go fetch a black hat to match this stereotype?" Aurora had thrown her head back in a cackle as she hadn't rightly seen it for the muggle picture like others could down below.
"It's all a bunch of bloody hocus pocus anyhow."
"IMARA!"
The young witch surpassed a flinch while landing down near the newly arrived Uncle and greeted him with a hug while her mother didn't find her comment all that funny.
"But no, though I wouldn't mind a baby on board sticker."
"I'm not a baby mum! I'm a big girl like Uncle Reggie said!" Aurora gasped as her legs hit the ground, causing Omen to hop off first while the broom dropped to the floor.
"Uncle Reggie, is this true? Did you tell her she's a big girl?" Regulus waved his head back to get the overzealous locks out of his sight and smirked.
"Well that just won't do!" She fought back, squeezing her youngest child and kissing her dearly. Which Lorelei didn't bother hiding her screams and giggles.
"Rommy! Rommy! Help!" The eldest son had flown down to see the commotion, and he laughed in seeing his mum acting this way towards Lori. "Gods sis, what'd you say to mum?" And his question was met with a few giggles and a proper greeting from his uncle and Aidan.
"That I'm a big girl." Romulus shook his head as he took hold of his sister now, the young gal was was just about five. And he knew how his mother was feeling seeing her growing up, just as much as he saw her struggle after he and Imara started going to Salem.
He assumed that he'd be asked to come home every weekend, but she only mentioned the idea and never asked outright. Instead she wanted them to come and visit on their own, the two managed every other week, a silent promise that they didn't want to leave their mum outright.
She dove into the curriculum as well, and if they needed an explanation on a topic that they didn't understand, they had a well-versed potion mistress as their mum. Not that they had any difficulties with intro to potions class, or intro to Herbology as they've grown with their mum explaining what she was doing since they were toddlers.
"Nah, not yet. Mum's right."
"What?!" Her high pitched scream caused Imara to laugh as she stood right beside her brother. "Come on Lori, you aren't going to be that small forever."
"Small?!" She sounded so utterly shocked that Rory had to coo her little girl back to her sweet self, and with the help of Aidan returning back from a consolation, it aided her into changing the subject.
"I think I'm chopped liver here Reg, not even a hello." Regulus rolled his eyes, so perhaps after so many years and the aid he had given to Rory's children and his own...They gave him a pleasant welcome soon after, and Regulus hadn't even been outta place when his sister and the American boy shared a kiss.
American boy. Ah, Rory won't ever let it down, and she retaliated by calling his wife American girl.
Thus starting the trend, though the only children here that were American were Regulus' and Lorelei herself. Aidan was currently holding her close as the bundle of children in addition to Regulus were all in the air.
Either Saros and Lorelei had been in the capable hands of Regulus as he rode through the air fluently. "How was the conference?"
"Swell, as you'd say. But a few colleagues snuck in a question or two about you." She rolled her eyes, his tint of jealousy was adorable in a few ways.
But even Regulus had heard of this lust the potion community viewed Aurora. Yet she simply ignored it all, though it was still a large pill to swallow. Especially when Aidan had followed her on the journey of delivering wolfsbane to the world.
And an even better notion, Salem was offering night classes to those who are inflected with Lycanthropy and want to better their education. Rory found herself looking at the list and being fairly upset that Lupin wasn't among the students, but she taught the class anyhow. As it was the perfect way for them to receive said potion without the hassle, but also speak with Aurora herself and issue any complaints or fix the dosage.
She hadn't received any word from Otto, as she warned him that a friend might follow up on her offer for a delivery of a year supply. Then again it hadn't been a year yet either, so the combination with Lupin was once again a second or third thought.
Right now she wanted to relax, watch a movie with the family while drinking a glass of wine. That is what Aidan's first night back would be, and he couldn't be anymore thankful than that.
Everything was coming together beautifully, and Aidan didn't miss the opportunity to compliment the gorgeous witch beside him. "Pick where we should go this summer?"
"Otto suggested Canada, I think it'll be lovely this time a year when it's not too cold." The pair made it a mission to try and visit the surrounding states and then some, there was little left on their list considering they didn't account for travel time in their eyes, as it took all of a few seconds.
The small farmhouse was beginning to grow bigger as the children started to grow older, the twins deserved their own rooms collectively. Though Cara and Lorelei wanted to share a room now, Rory prepared for the day they'd change their mind and made it a playroom for the time being.
Otherwise all the children had their own room, Rory had her study and the outside shed to brew potions, Aidan had his own study. The beautiful library was starting to look lovely as well, although Aidan chided that they didn't need a library, it caused a slight argument that Rory had always grown up having one and she'd be damned if the children didn't have one either.
"What about that camping trip? A warm fire to bundle up beside at night?"
"Luxurious. But that does sound like fun...When's your next vacation?" He chuckled, liking the fact that his little witch was her own boss in the realm of potion-making. And it made things quite easier when they wanted a break.
"My sister invited everyone for dinner this Friday." Rory smiled, tightening her hold around his embrace as she happened to like Aidan's family, they were more than generous and understood her reservations.
The camping trip was a success, it gave either a sense of nature and wildlife. Although either did live on a farm, the seclusion of the woods and the sound of running water relaxed them. And give it to Aidan to attempt to make it romantic, though there was little to romanticize about s'mores and bugs. But the simple candle lights in the tent was enough to set the mood, though Rory's gut feeling was screaming at her that something was wrong.
Although she pressed herself to remain with Aidan for the full duration of the trip, she notably reminded herself that if something was wrong that Regulus would send a patronus her way.
Arriving home that afternoon she was relieved to know that nothing happened out of the ordinary, so she was left with the relaxing rest of her day entertaining the children and ignoring all else that hadn't to do with the farm.
What a mistake that had been...
As there was a letter from the British Minister of Magic sitting idly by on her desk that needed her attention.
Urgently.
