HOGWARTS
Romulus huffed in damnation as the obsessive knocking finally caused him to place his potion on stasis—All before marching to the ladder and climbing up. Yet seeing his sister he was utterly confused as to how she managed to get into his dorm, or knew that he was here to begin with.
"Want to come down?... I just started to mix in the—" Romulus attempted, but Imara had thrusted an already opened parcel with their names on it into his hold.
"You need to read it." The eldest Lestrange son continued up the rest of the steps and sat down on the closed suitcase to see what got Imara so worked up that her hair was a sickly grey like their mother's.
Speaking of sick mothers!
The two raced over to their head of houses' classroom and begged him to let them go and see their mum in the hospital. But unfortunately Rory knew her children well, because she also followed up with a parcel to Flitwick as well.
Issuing that the two weren't allowed to leave Hogwarts, especially not in the middle of the week.
"For one—For once she can't see that we rather be with her than learning?! Goddess sakes, she was deaf and—"
"And numb, that's what father said at least. But he also said he'll owl every day with updates, that's something Rommy." Imara tried to give her brother a rational and logical reasoning behind staying at school rather than leaving.
However the once bubbly Lestrange children were rather sour, so in coming into McGonagal's classroom, the deputy headmistress came up to them both the next day and delivered them personally another update.
Since it was already a decent few weeks into school now, the twins had gotten a better relationship with their roommates.
"Buck up you two, your mother's certainly gotten much worse injuries in Quidditch than this." McGonagal said with a slight grin appearing on her face, the twins of course knew that their mum was a favorite amongst the school.
But this was the first time they had been given this from a professor. "Father told us she's gotten hit by lightening?" Romulus question and the witch nodded.
"There is no need to frown children, if anything I believe you have some other siblings that would appreciate a parcel from you." The two looked at one another and nodded, since their time in Salem allowed them to be ahead of the curve, McGonagal allowed just this once for them to slack—Even then either would raise their hand and add to the conversation.
A sure mix of Aurora and Sirius for sure as Imara couldn't hold back in making her friends giggle.
And by friends, it was the other set of twins sitting in front of the Lestrange children. How was it that it reminded Minvera so suddenly of those Mauarder's in a single swoop?
It pained the Professor, as her thoughts instantly went to a certain Potter child. Harry rarely left her mind, especially when the years was starting to grow closer to his arrival.
It excited her and unnerved her.
To have all the children under one roof, to see what the Potter boy would make out of Hogwarts—Oh it brought her to regret not taking the boy with her, not seeking Aurora out—Demanding that Lupin take her offered funds to take care of Harry.
Harry.
Harry James Potter.
McGonagal wondered how much the Lestrange children knew about their parents in the war, neither Sirius or Aurora had been so timid in the classroom—Unless they received bad news at home.
Or when Sirius had been disowned and Aurora been possessed by an old family curse.
McGonagal had made her life's word to care for her students as though they were her own, but sometimes they certainly went above that relationship.
So before the twins had left, she said that her door was always open to either of them if they need it. And it earned her a smile from either of them, and the guilt that fester in the Transfigoration for years had slightly evaporated.
"How's your mum?" Fred questioned and it earned him a sequenced smile from the twins—It was the first time he had been on the receiving end of a twin's power of acting at the same time.
"She's doing much better, course mum's hardly understanding what the term 'bedrest' really means so she's still trying to conduct the better part of the potion release from the hospital room." Romulus informed, and the twins chuckled.
"Sounds like she's rear to get the bloody hell outta there then?" George smirked and the Lestrange twins hummed in agreement.
"Course, mum hates hospitals when she's the patient," Imara said with an eye roll and Romulus thought kindly to the previous times his mum had been feeling ill and needed medical attention.
"Lori's at a friend's house, I wish we could go see her." The witch whispered and pouted, the ready made letter to their youngest sibling was all ready to be sent. They just needed to head to the owlery.
"Oi, I have to take this to Errol. Could walk with you if you'd like?" Fred questioned and Imara nodded, thinking that the Gryffindor's company would make her feel much better. Especially when he'd ask for rather difficult combinations of color for her hair.
It took her mind off her mum's health.
"You think she'll be alright?" Imara whispered off towards Fred, it became a general occurrence that one of the twins would go off with the other set. George and Romulus seemed to hit it off better since the time on the train, for whatever reason or another, it seemed the the eldest Lestrange liked this crazy sense of thinking outside the box.
Not staying in the realm of limitations, it reminded him greatly of his mum's adittude to the potion world. But also there was a chaotic sort of aura between the two red heads and it certainly reminded both Imara and Romulus on their uncle.
"I think your mum has done a lot worse to herself, marrying your father for one thing—"
"Oi I told you that in confidence and I was angry. He's not letting us go and visit." Fred shrugged his shoulders but threw a kind smile her way.
"Look, your mum's going to be fine, we're almost done with the first semester then we get a holiday break. Almost look forward to it, course our house is a bit cramped."
"What do you have for christmas dinner? Mum always makes this meat pastry thing with sauce—Goddess it's yummy." Fred had meant to ask why both she and Romulus continued to say that instead of using 'merlin' but he also caught that they hardly used 'bloody' either.
They had the accent but not the highlighted phrases.
"Mum makes two hams, we're growing lads. Makes for good leftovers too." Imara nodded, but then she kicked a small pebble on the floor with a pout.
"If I asked you something, would you be honest?"
"I'll be brutally honest, I swear."
"Solemly swear?" He nodded and she stopped her walk causing him to stop.
"Is the Lestrange name...That bad? Besides my Aunt and Uncle?" After all the times the two had talked it was clear that America was their safe haven, and in her anger he learned that both she and her brother had been given a history lesson.
"I dunno, kinda. I think the snakes were hoping for you to be wearing green."
"The hat almost did put me in Slytherin, but I knew it'd put Romulus in Ravenclaw..."
"You chose?" Imara nodded but smiled all the same.
"I'm glad I chose, the Slytherins are rather...Solum, it makes sense at least. Father is like that too, but I think that's how're they're raised. To be posh."
"Yeah course, you're not posh are you?" Fred teased and Imara turned to him and rolled her eyes.
"Well...I won't deny I'm spoiled. I think that was more of mum's way of making up for father not being there. But I can't stand most of father's friends." Fred started to chuckle at the face Imara had made, as though the fellow was in the room with them.
"Suppose you're right, most of 'em in Slytherin don't have siblings...Live in mansions and manors." Imara rolled her eyes.
"Well I do live in a mansion, but most of it's bare since we just moved back. Suppose mum will have fun with that once the potion's out...Now come on! Snape's given us an essay and I hardly looked at the conversions this summer!" Fred watched her for a moment before chasing after her. For a moment there he thought he was going to miss his little sister, but Imara was like her in a plethra of ways.
