Aurora had kicked him out, even with how much he protested. And it was a subtle mention of a count down to how many days remained to their wedding before he could join her for a bath.
The man couldn't sleep for two full days.
It took on account two cold showers to cure this primal feeling of his. Aurora's goddesses were punishing him with the highest intent. While Aurora allowed herself to have a pleasant morning in the bath once again, seeing as how she was to prepare for the engagement party that night.
Granted it is late morning, but the house was empty and she assumed it'd be alright to relax.
To be fair, the young girl didn't exactly care about flower arrangements. Colors or anything in the sort, the decor didn't spark her interest. However she started dwindling down the perfect dress and found herself deserving a victory bath.
She even set up the record player to play off in the corner, her hair tied up with a towel as she hummed along to the music. Even going as far as to playing the damn thing as if a piano was in front of her.
In addition to all this, the sticky paste lingering on her face brought a pleasuring burn, knowing full well the tumeric foundation of her self created paste would allow her skin to glow tonight.
Her eyes closed, leaning back as she was allowed to take the edge off. It was sort of sick and twisted feeling as safe as she did in this household. Her name allowed her to be safe on either side, her brother could provide sanction as well as Dumbledore, even Moody if she wanted to go that far.
And the other side held the Dark Lord, following by her cousin...
The knock at the door settled, and she was assumed as to who it could be.
"Something wrong?" She called out, panic driving into her body. "N-no, may I speak with you?" He sounded nervous, so she voiced her agreement and he was a bit weary and covered his eyes more or less as he entered the room.
"Merlin there are bubbles, your eyes are safe from any peeks." That didn't help him but calm his eyes shut further...With the added bit of his hands over them as well.
"Rather not Rory...I just...I had a question." She tilted her head, not that he could see it. So she picked up her wand from her side and summoned a chair for him to continue with his worries.
"And what question would this be?" Had their parents been home, this conversation would not have existed unless in the dead of night, but he quickly took it and darted his eyes at every blinking moment.
"When...When you said we can start saying 'so the universe, so the soul'? What did you mean Rory?" Her swallow thickened after hearing that, Merlin had him it's been a while since she had given him that phrase to grasp.
So she pushed herself forward, the bath's edge covering her further. Thus allowing him to see her, though it didn't help that the only thing she was wearing was the Lestrange emblem on her chest.
But then his childlike face widened as he looked at his sisters face, causing her to stifle back a laugh. "It's face cream you arse, sod off will you?... Besides, I stole that saying so we can lean to one another. I know I'm not what you need Reg, you need an older brother—" The spark never died out in his eyes as he nodded for her to continue, until he blatantly interrupted her.
"Of course I need you. You're my sister." He spoke, ever so softly as he was needing to keep this secret of his love in his sister.
"Who else am I going to watch the stars with?" Aurora smiled at his honesty but shook her head.
"Sirius was better though, maybe that's what comes with being the real first born...But he could stand up to mother and father, he was brave. That's why I'm thankful that Rabastan had come and taken his place."
"Taken—He didn't take Sirius' place Rory." He sounded angry, hurt even. Causing her to sigh further.
"Didn't he? You both took the task of watching me throughout Hogwarts, protected me...But our saying Reg, 'as the universe, so the soul'? I want us to be safe. We're in a world where everything is against us. So it's our way of saying...We're each other's rock. A safety net." He thought for a moment and began to slowly nod. He began to think of what he had ever done for his sister to ever have her back, he failed entirely when Victoria told her to leave the Slytherin common room.
Or when Sirius pulled her into a classroom to talk?
Or when her necklace charm failed to work and everyone assumed it was the Gryffindors or the Slytherins doing?
But then he remembered all the times he had snuck sourdough bread for those late nights to make sure she ate enough. The bullshit he had to endure listening to how sad his sister was in thinking she was not the perfect size.
It was starting to get to her too. He saw it, even though this was well after Sirius had left, it was defiantly a difference between then and now.
"You know I'll visit all the time, you probably bore of me eventually.." She whispered off towards him, attempting to get a long lock out of his hair and giggled out the thought.
"Once you find yourself a gal, forgetting your sister will be the next step." He scoffed at the notion in its entirety.
"Mother and father are more concerned about you at the moment, I'll take to the shadows for now." He was right, and they wouldn't have many days like this one for a while. Or at least until she moved in and settled into her own manner.
He was awakened by the loyalty she had shared with him so far, and she smiled, but then he wondered if this loyalty steamed over the one she had with Rabastan...
"Reg if things get too messy in this home...I demand that you live with me. Rabastan won't mind a bit." He nodded, the idea of leaving this home seemed to hit him hard, but staying with his sister was all too favorable.
"Perhaps long after the wedding, Cissy and Lucius's martial bliss lasted bloody months." She rolled her eyes before going off to squeeze his hand, and yet it came at an all-time high to see the glow beneath her pillow.
Did Sirius actual respond?
"Alright, out out...I need to figure out how I'm doing my hair for tonight before mother has a heart attack." He instantly rose up and said that they could star gaze before the day takes over.
Causing her to roll his eyes did she lean forward to allow the heavy anchor to rise on up. Her mind went from different hairstyles to what shoes she needed to find.
All while brainstorming she started to suggest alterations to the potion she was fixing up with Otto. "Hey Reg, can you get my notebook from my desk?" She called out, and he narrowed his brow off in that direction from looking through the little nicknacks on her shelf.
"Yeah alright, what about it?"
"Unless you want to write out some ingredients I think you should just pass it over Reggie." He groaned out loud.
"You promised never to call me that! And can you ever take a break from thinking?" He had come into the bathroom now to see her in a fluffy robe and cleaning off that god awful face lotion that he couldn't understand very she wears that.
He's heard it far too much about how fit his sister is, or how jealous some of his classmates were. Personally he's thought he heard it all, but Rabastan's mates were the worst of it.
Granted they tried not to say anything while he's present, but sometimes they'd slip and there was no reason not to glare off into Lestrange's direction.
Regulus is a Black, an heir to the fortune. And he needed to start acting like it. "I can stop thinking when I'm dead Reg, can you—"
"Don't say things like that." He interrupted her, he hadn't really meant to suddenly stomp the whole death giving issue but here it was...Loud and clear.
"Reg. Honestly, if you think I'm going down without a fight?" He mirrored her smirk, but hearing something so morbid was frightening to even digest.
"Fighting who?" He caught her gaze the wall mirror as she too looked off in his direction.
"Whoever gets in my way." Was her anwser, and he could've taken it multiple was had she not shot him a smile.
"As the Universe?" His perfect smile shined brightly, it meeting his eyes so fully that he puffed his chest in the slightest. "So the soul...Do you need me to hold your hair?"
He saw her struggling and just assumed that she needed an extra hand or two to manage whatever she needed.
"Er...Up or down tonight?" He tried to ask, but truthfully he was thankful that his sister talked sports and other practical things than hair and nails with him.
She looked at him as if he had said something inappropriate or outlandish, but her cackle of a laugh made it all the more sounding.
"My dress is hanging up in my closet on the door if you want to give me your professional opinion Reg." He grounded his teeth and continued off to her closet, he had more or less the same sized one so that wasn't the issue.
Instead it was the gown she had picked for the evening, a very classy silver color. His sister had taste, there was no denying that. Especially when she designed this bloody thing?
He inspected the dress and smirked when he had the perfect suggestion.
"That braid bun you had a while back, birthday? Little pieces missing and curled." Her mouth parted but she hadn't said anything yet. Aurora assumed her brother's suggestion would've been all for nothing but he proved himself a fair point and she nodded in agreement.
"You think Raba will—"
"I am going to stop you right there before you ask if we can go get our nails done Rory. I'm not one of your gal pals." She narrowed her eyes, even though she was still drying her hair.
"I know, but you're the one with the better hair suggestion than mother at the moment. And Rabastan does like when my hairs up." He groaned, placing his hand over his ears and begging for it to stop.
"Is there going to be wine...No, I need fire whiskey."
"Father's stash is in the globe downstairs, you know that." He rubbed his eyes roughly, causing his sister to start to be concerned.
"Reg...Come now I was teasing, what's wrong?"
"Rabastan's an arsehole." That had taken her by surprise, so she had taken the seat she had summoned for Reg just ten minutes ago.
"And what did he do?"
"Rory how can you forgive him for everything he's done to you in Hogwarts! You can't deny he's an arsehole." She perked her lips, reminded harshly of what Raba had asked of her...And how he responded to the no was rather a red flag, but now she had full reigns to protect herself.
"You're right, he's a downright arsehole and a git...And could be whiny too. But he isn't always." He wanted to tell her that she didn't have to marry him, that everything can go back to normal.
But life was moving forward, his obligation to marry would soon be upon them all and Rory was the first to hit that age.
She wouldn't be returning to Hogwarts, she graduated, she's done her seven years.
Regulus was denying it all.
"What he asked you...In the clock tower?" He spoke through gritted teeth, already insinuating that it was difficult for him to get through without gagging.
"Reg—"
"You have the right to say no." He saw how teary-eyed she had gotten at the sight of the reminder, so she nodded to his input. Leaning forward did she kiss his cheek in thanks for saying such a thing.
"If you think...For one moment that Rabastan Lestrange is going to control me in any way shape or form then I suppose both of you will be shocked." He was elated to hear it, that she wasn't going to be just a wife.
Rabastan was going to be in for a surprise if he thought otherwise.
As she allowed her hair to air-dry, Reg asked if she needed help packing. But truthfully she was just going to take her Hogwarts truck and a purse to house a few other things.
She would have to leave tonight after the party, Rabastan offered to at least bring her to the Ministry.
But she was traveling with Mr.Otto so it wasn't a risk of protection.
Reg's owl had sent him a parcels, thus allowing Rory the moment to look off the book. But her hope had not been all that bad as it was Remus, wondering how she was holding up.
I'm fine Remmy, have you been putting the sap on twice a day? Or do I have to owl your mother?
He had been waiting beside the book for quiet a book before reading another, though the second it glowed he hurried, only to scoff at her message.
No. Please, it was hard enough to move out...Just bored, Pads isn't back yet.
She sighed, when she thought about visiting him. But with everything she would most likely get scolded.
I'd try and escape but I have to pack.
Pack for what?
Aurora explained that she was going with Otto to Germany to accompany a project as well as meet more her work field.
Remus smiled, proud that she was following her dreams, but wouldn't have minded her company. At least it would be away from that bloody fiancé.
No matter how much Pads wishes he could deny it, legally Rabastan was turning into his brother-in-law and it was making him go bonkers.
The two were talking back and forth for quite some time before she mentioned having to get ready for a party. Leaving out the small fact that it was her engagement celebration, but once closing the book on her side...Remus almost felt that damn separation and swallowed roughly at the disconnection.
He wanted her here, away from that life as much as Pads wanted. His aggravation got the best of him as he threw his light reading off towards the wall in damnation.
Remus was protective of his pack, Moony was growing stronger as his human was maturing himself. He needed a distraction, but there wasn't much he could do other than bother the future couple or visit his parents...
Another lonely night in apparently.
It was the opposite for Aurora, she wanted to stay in for the night curled up with a good book. But instead she was meant to celebrate the union that was on a count down, but really she was overthinking the week-long convention. Even after greeting her guests and dancing along with a few family members.
Rabastan had proven himself throughout the night, making sure that his little fiancé's needs were met and she adored the attention...For the first hour or two.
She hoped that his constant need to cater was going to die down once they're married because she didn't have the heart at the moment.
Aurora had grown closer to her future mother in law, something about sharing the damn necklace that they were forced to wear during their betrothing stage was sort of a shared annoyance.
And it wasn't like Bella would start anything in that conversation with Clarissa.
Rabastan had taken ahold of his wife to the side and starting walking through his home at the moment, this estate was upheld as his family was stationed here throughout the year.
Clarissa was offering aid in helping with the renovations but all Aurora had asked was a list of what flowers and plants she had in her famous garden as Rory wanted to recreate it.
That was all Mrs.Lestrange wanted to hear as she promised the list and to order them sometime after the wedding and honeymoon.
Whether it was indeed the honeymoon that sent her into a state of worry or the dormented stress that's been festering for the past few days...She couldn't rightly tell from what, but Rabastan had instantly caught up on it from across the room. And that was why they were outside at the current moment, then again he wanted his little fiancee to know what he thought of her dress tonight.
The tight fitted silver gown was a very tasteful v-neck, a modern twist to dressing robes as it was classy and everything that screamed an intelligent Ravenclaw.
"Are you all packed Rory?"
"Yep, finished this afternoon actually...Mother was preparing for a month stay away. But I managed to fit everything into my Hogwarts trunk." He rolled his eyes, he was sure to see that damn trunk when they would be living together.
Living together.
It felt so far away, but as of right now, resting on the small little bench just before the given center trees and blooming summer plants...The atmosphere was entirely perfect for what Rabastan had planned.
And this time no interruption.
Rory had little to no hesitation as the reminder of how it felt traveled throughout her body and flared her senses. A level of calmness spread and the build up in her stomach was fueling her low issued moans.
Rabastan had read a book, taking a tip out his little fiancé's attempt in learning everything about sex in that regard. This was his second trial run, and his little Kitten was falling apart right in front of him.
"Have you ever experienced anything like this before Rory?" He asked, his own voice was coating in a husky undertone.
Rabastan was more than aroused, but seeing the satisfaction on her face was all the more reason to know what she's up to.
She shook her head, her eyes still featuring a dazed expression as she smiled sheepily. Her face a little flushed and intently as to what happened.
And while Rabastan was copping with his dressing robes tenting upwards...It was a bit intimidating to see how big he was even from where she was sitting...
But the sudden cackle suggested that they were not alone.
"Well well well! What do we have here? Cassi and Bass looking for a moment of privacy?" He was entirely thankful that Rory had finished when she had, but his sister in law came with a purpose.
And his own brother following in pursuit.
It took all of one look from Rodolpus to look at Rory and how Bass was protecting her gaze...It gave away what they had just done, or what they were attempting to do.
"Do you need something Bella?" Rabastan scowled, he was one of the few people who would get away with such a comment.
Rabastan was close to untouchable.
"Not from you silly, from your Ravenclaw!" Aurora's interest peeked as she smiled softly.
"What can I do for you Bella?" She spoke carefully, and the women squealed as she came forward.
"I'm bored! Mindless chit chat in there, let's have fun Cassi." The three bystanders of what Bella had said were confused, but the second her wand revealed itself, Rory rushed to retrieve her own and block both herself and Rabastan.
"ARE YOU MAD?!" He yelled, stepping in front of his future wife in a defensive manner.
His own wand out now.
"Of course I am! I want to see what the Dark Lord has shown Cassi. Come! Come." The women was indeed insane, she was a mixture of a demanding woman and a child not getting their way.
"Bella this is entirely inappropriate, there are guests inside." The elder Lestrange brother attempted to talk his wife out of this nonsense but failed miserably.
"Merlin sakes she has work for the next week, surely this can wait until after or—" Rory had remained quiet throughout the denial of ether brother defending her on her behalf.
But Aurora is a Black, and the growing understanding of what this was to Bella. Aa version of extending her loyalty in the only form she knows how.
"Rabastan. Move." That startled the young master as he turned off behind with his mouth gaping. "Rory are you mad?" Her eyes held his, but he wouldn't budge.
He had lost his standing with her as there was no trust, once again...Seemingly enough she walked on her own to step aside from his protection to walk straight on up to Bella.
"On the count of three Cassi?" The playful smirked rallied and if fueled the entertainment on her cousin's behalf as she smiled wildly.
"Not a beat before." With their wands flicked up to steady in front of their noses before flicking downwards and walking their own direction off three steps away...Then turning about.
"Bella if you hurt—" Either of the Black women turned their attention to the youngest Lestrange and he could only stand on the sidelines for the showdown that was going to take place.
Of course the crazies Madam Lestrange had taken the first attack, but Rabastan noted that Rory predicted that of her cousin as she didn't attempt anything more than place up a shield, but once that had manifested, she stepped away and threw two different offensive hexes that managed to have Bella cackle.
The energy that radiated off the women was breathtaking, he hadn't seen her produce and curses. Though the one time he had caught the aftermath of what she produced in the dueling room...
That should've been a clear indication of what she was able to accomplish.
Suddenly the soon to be sister in laws fired the same curse to have a stream to be created, and Rory...Filled with fury and fresh energy was gaining a stance, but allowed Bella to get the other hand to fire her own given spell.
"That was...That was brilliant Cassi!" Rodolpous cheered, completely ignoring his fallen wife as he clapped his hands together. Whatever sort of electric trill she had casted, had Bella's hair frizzy in content as she had been struck by lightning.
The cheeky grin showing on her face as she looked to Rabastan, who was very shocked. But the growing annoyance pinned in her direction.
Well screw him then. Aurora rolled her eyes as she went off to her Cousin in a helping hand to her feet.
"You should be proud of your little Ravenclaw, it isn't every day someone bests Bella."
"You don't think I'm proud of her?" Rodolpous looked at his brother and sighed into the air above.
"Bass you didn't let her fight, you weren't the one to pull up a safety between the two of you...And besides the fact that she rolled her eyes at you, I'd say your in the birdhouse." He chuckled, stalking off to his wife and little sister with his own grin.
"Cassi won't share the spell with me!" She shrieked, and Aurora perked her lips. She had created it in the hopes that it would take someone by surprise, and her luck had been Bellatrix who begged her.
"I didn't think you were creating spells Cassiopeia." Her eyes flashed over towards her fiancé.
"Always have been, but never for dueling." Her eyelids fluttered innocently, though it didn't rightly work for him at the moment either.
With Bella's battle fingers finally satisfied, the young couple was finally left alone. But Aurora knew that an argument was coming so she stood in silence, her knowing glance seemed to enrage him further.
"What the bloody fuck was that Rory?" He demanded an answer, there was no escaping this.
"She would've asked continuously anyway. Words don't work with Bella." He scoffed, taking a step forward and she instinctively took one back.
"It's not like she got a hit in anyway, so what—"
"That's not the point Rory! I don't want you to fight!" Her eyes widened immensely as she couldn't even deviate her attention if she wanted to.
"I'm sorry to say, but it's too late for the Dark Lord to lose interest in me Rabastan."
"Not at all, to stay in the sidelines?" She rolled her eyes, obviously withholding the true reason but tonight he wouldn't get any details.
"Next time she fires a curse our way, I'll let you deal with it...Arsehole." She swore, waving her wand delicately around her posture to look as though nothing had ever happened in the field.
"Aurora...Merlin Aurora!" He shouted off after her, but she was already upset for the night that it only tempted them further to cause a spat.
The joys of marriage? He bitterly thought. And of course now Aurora was going to be off on a leave.
How was he going to make this all better?
Orion had brought her trunk as she kindly changed in the Lestrange guest room and packed the dress in a separate bag for Cissy to take back to her room at Grimmauld Palace.
She was double checking for the last time and smiled, this was going to be a leap into the world of potions, to listen to other like-minded individuals...Oh she was more than excited.
A knock on the door interrupted her thought as she smiled off behind her. "Come in!" She shouted, it wasn't her room persay. But it was indeed the one she used to stay in when visiting the Lestrange.
Funny how that turned out.
"Rory please love...I honestly didn't mean it in the way that you—" She had instantly annoyed him with the way she held herself, her hands clasped together in front of her as she waited for him to finish.
Like she wasn't even listening.
"That I couldn't handle my cousin? You know Bella would've managed to make an even bigger scene." She was right and he sighed in defeat. Merlin, it was like their previous fight that led to their breakup.
And that terrified Rabastan.
"I'm sorry." He whispered again, the desperation as clear as day and she sighed. "As you should be, I get that as my future husband you'll be my protector Raba. But terms of these family affairs they are my battle."
"So my opinion means nothing?... That I don't want you to take the Dark Mark...Nothing at all?" She stilled, why didn't he want her to take the mark?
For the past few months it was all he and anyone else could discuss.
"Don't start this conversation when I have to leave in five minutes." It was a struggle for him to watch the scene before him, as though she was moving out...
Leaving him...
Divorce.
It wasn't unheard of, most of the pureblood usually end up killing one another to marry their mistresses. But that hadn't rightly been a thought.
"Raba please...Please for the love of everything, this is important...And when I return you'll be presented to the Dark Lord for your mark. We'll talk when I come back." His heart needed to hear that she was coming back, so he moved away from the door to allow her proper exit.
Her Hogwarts trunk followed in pursuit, but she didn't take the help he offered with her luggage though it simply levitated down.
"Mr.Lestrange. Not to worry, I'll watch out for your little Fiancee. My wife will be joining us Wednesday, the Herbology fanatics have been invited as well." The excitement was hard for her to contain, but she managed to leave a small kiss to Rabastan's lips.
"We'll talk when I'm back. Promise." She whispered, and he smiled before looking back to Mr.Hanson.
"Enjoy yourself, love." He whispered back, kissing her cheek and allowing her to leave his manner. There were still a few guests, but it was his brother that offered up a hefty glass of whiskey.
One that he downed in under ten seconds.
"Did my Bella interrupt something off in the garden?"
"Close to it, and now she's off furthering her career with a distracted mind all because I don't want any harm to come to her." The eldest Lestrange simply a firm hand over his shoulder as they continued this conversation at his brother's manner without the worry on who would hear.
