what the shuck did you say

Mya's POV

Bonfires.

One of the things I actually look forward to in this hell of a maze.

All the food, oh so greatly prepared by Frypan. The wonderfully constructed wrestling sand-pit, requested by Gally.

And his special drinks, of course.

Me and Thomas were leaning against a log, content with just being next to each other and taking swigs from our drinks occasionally.

It was good to finally relax after having a, very, malicious day.

Today, upon many others, Gally has managed to insult me.

Horribly.

I shouldn't be affected by them, not as much as I was at least.

But I was.

"Hey."

I snapped out of my daze and looked at Thomas quickly, seeing his concerned expression.

"You okay?" He asked, tilting his head.

I just nodded, not wanting to dwell on the detail. Lord knows hat Thomas would do if he knew-

"No. You're not. You've got this look on your face that says so. Tell me." He cooed, pulling me closer.

"It's nothing big. It's better not to worry-"

"Mya." He cut me off, giving me a look.

I sighed, knowing I wasn't getting out of this one.

"Gally." I groaned.

"What? What did he do?" He instantly asked me.

"Nothing, horrible. Just called me a couple names, but it's fi-"

"Mya." He warned. "What did he say."

"It was nothing. Just- whore. But, honestly-"

Before I could finish, Thomas stood up and walked away.

And I didn't have to guess where he was going.

I quickly got up, chasing after his fast pace. But the way it was looking, he was getting there before me.

"Gally!" He yelled, making the glader look over and roll his eyes.

"What do you wa-"

He didn't get to finish either, except Thomas' fist had smashed straight into his jaw.

Gally fell to the floor in groans, but instantly dusted himself off and jumped back up.

"Okay, greenie. You wanna go? Let's go." He snapped, slightly crouching and putting his arms in a ready position.

"If you don't wanna get your ass beat, I suggest you stop insulting my girlfriend." Thomas hissed, getting ready to throw another punch.

Gally almost laughed at Thomas when he said that, but he just scoffed.

"That's what this is about? Her? It's not my fault she sleeps around." Gally sneered.

This just made Thomas angrier.

"What the shuck did you say." He slowly spat, pretending to relax as he stepped closer.

"I said-"

But Thomas threw another punch, although he didn't stop. When Gally went down, Thomas crouched down and continued.

"Thomas!" I shouted, tears almost pouring out. Even if Gally was on the ground, he was still getting in punches.

He didn't stop, or even flinch.

"Thomas!" I heard Newt yell, louder than me.

Thomas' head snapped up, still glaring until his face relaxed.

"The last thing you want to go and do is get banished for this." Newt warned him, while he pulled Thomas away from a groaning Gally.

When he turned to me, his face dropped. He moved away from Newt, quickly moving to me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get so violent in front of you." He whispered, trying to put his hands on my cheeks.

I grabbed them, not wanting his bloodied knuckles near my face. He sighed and looked down at the ground.

I silently pulled him away, entering the showers to wash his hands and some blood off his cheek.

He followed willingly, still looking down as I turned out the shower water.

I grabbed a small cloth that was hanging and wet it, placing it on his knuckles.

"Please." He whispered. "Say something."

"There's nothing to say." I shook my head, wiping off the blood.

"Well, please just talk. Yell at me. Something." He pleaded.

"I'm not going to yell at you." I said, dropping his hands. I moved the wash cloth to his face, trying to stare at this cheek instead of his eyes.

"You should." He mumbled.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Because I shouldn't have done that. Shouldn't have been so angry with him." He sighed, answering like a child who had to explain what they did wrong.

"Wrong." I shook my head.

His eyebrows furrowed, tilting his head.

"What?"

I sighed, dropping the wash cloth to the floor and putting my full attention on him.

"Do you know what would've happened if Newt hadn't stopped you? Newt might bend slightly for you, but I'm sure Alby isn't so lenient. You could've been banished Thomas." I argued.

"I've been in the maze for a night be-"

"I don't care. For all I know, that could've been pure luck." I sighed. "What if you didn't get so lucky this time? I can't lose you."

He nodded, keeping his eyes on me.

"I'm sorry."

I took a breath of relief, and then wrapped my arms around his neck.

"But thank you." I whispered. I could hear him slightly chuckle as he wrapped his arms around me, slightly kissing my neck.

"Anything for you."
