we made it

   THIRD PERSON

The gladers all surrounded the door, cautiously eyeing the handle.

"Are you serious." Frypan mumbles, catching a glimpse of the exit sign above the door.

Thomas grabbed the handle and pushed open the door, revealing flashing lights and broken glass. Bodies strewn across the room in a frantic fashion.

They all walked in, Y/N keeping close to Thomas' side. After all they'd gone through trying to get here, she didn't feel like getting separated.

As everyone walked around the room, the eyed all the machinery, all the flashing screens. Teresa looked down at one with a knowing look.

The gladers regathered  at a screen that displays a woman's face. Her video began to play, a crisp informative voice echoing around the room.

When she finalized her speech, she reached for a gun, pointed it to her head, and shot.

Some raised their hands to their mouths, especially Y/N. She'd seen death, that was a given, but this was so blunt. How could someone do this?

A noise erupted beside them, making everyone turn their heads to the huge door opening for them.

"We made it." Thomas whispered, almost in disbelief.

Y/N nodded, slowly following Thomas to the door.

Glass cracked behind them, making their heads snap to see Gally.

   "How'd you-"

Gally twisted one of the keys in his hand, griever blood still freshly dripping off. And a similar gun to the woman's, in the other.

"Gally, we made it. We can go." Y/N nodded, taking a step towards him.

  "No." He shook his head.

"Hey-" Minho spoke up. "He's stung."

Everyone looked to Gally, now recognizing the familiar dark eyes and ominous look.

"I belong to the maze. And so do you."

Gally quickly raised the fun, pointing it straight at the gladers.

   Straight at Thomas.

Y/N's eyes widened, knowing what Gally was trying to do. She shoved herself in front of Thomas, feeling the worst pain ever in her side.

Right as Gally had pulled the trigger, Minho sent a pile straight through Gally's heart. He first dropped to his knee, before toppling over.

Y/N instantly felt the blood loss and collapsed, making gladers gasp.

  "Y/N! What's-"

Thomas eyed the growing red spot right under her heart. He felt everything inside him break.

"N.. No. No! Y/N, Y/N; don't you dare. You- you were supposed to make it!" Thomas screamed, holding her in his lap. Although she felt pain as she did this, she smiled.

"It's okay. We made it. The maze is over." Y/N nodded.

"You can't die, Y/N." Thomas sobbed, shaking now. "I don't want to leave without you. I- we were supposed to both live!"

"Thomas-" Y/N paused coughing up blood which only made Thomas' heart ache more. "I love you."

"Stop." Thomas choked out. "Don't say stuff like that. You're fine. You'll live. It'll- it'll all be okay." He nodded, trying to reassure himself.

Y/N smiled through tears, putting her hands tiredly over Thomas'.

"I couldn't have spent the maze with anyone better."

Thomas was aching all over now, but he wasn't the only one. Chuck was sobbing into Teresa, who was letting choked sobs stick in her throat. Newt had his hand clasped over his mouth, trying to hide the pathetic cries falling from his mouth. Even Minho, who's throat now had a lump he couldn't swallow down as he watched the only shuck person that made the maze anything but a living hell.

"I love you all." Y/N looked to the gladers, sobbing. "And I, I- I..."

Her lungs gasped for air, and when they found none, her body did all it could, until she fell limp in Thomas' arms.

"No!" Thomas angrily screamed, tears still evident.

He felt like nothing. Someone had just ripped anything he ever lived for right from him. He had nothing now. She was everything he needed.

She was his only motivation to make it out of the shucking maze.

  And now, she was gone.

Thomas felt limp too. His arms weren't gripping Y/N anymore with the same strength, he felt exhausted. He literally felt empty. He didn't think someone could feel this way. He hated it. He wanted this feeling to stop.

Thomas' eyes wavered to the gun that Gally had. It was taunting him, laying there guilty.

He carefully laid Y/N down, standing up and walking towards it. Thomas crouched down, picking it up as he inspected it.

"Thomas..." Chuck said, curious as to why he has he gun that killed the one he loves- in his hand.

Thomas ignored them, quickly putting the barrel to his temple.

"Tommy, no!" Newt screamed, lunging for Thomas. He gripped his arm and ripped it away, luckily as soon as Thomas pulled the trigger. The bullet shot off, hitting some more glass.

"Are you shucking crazy?!" He angrily yelled at Thomas, until he saw the utter, broken expression on his face.

"I- I don't want to Newt. I can't take it. Sh- she's gone. I don't wanna feel like this anymore. Just make it stop." Thomas cried.

The rest of the gladers looked to him in shock. They'd never seen Thomas, or anyone for that matter, look so...

    Lost. Empty. Broken.

"I'm not letting you kill yourself." Newt spoke, his voice cracking.

"Please. Y-you do it. Please do it. Do this one thing for me." Thomas pleaded, now on his knees in self-pity.

Newt shut his eyes, still shaking his head as he put the gun on the table next to him.

"You shuck!" Thomas screamed, angry tears now falling. "I ask you one thing, the one thing I want and you can't even a give me that satisfaction!"

But Newt stayed still, reminding himself that one day Thomas might be thankful. Not anytime soon, but maybe one day.

Thomas fully sat on the ground now, staring at Y/N with sad eyes again. He couldn't believe it. She was dead and he was stuck here, without her.
