Imagine: Starring You and Tom Hanks

  Being the child of Tom Hanks is quite a whirlwind. Your father is an acting legend. He's been in more movies and TV shows than most people in the industry. You're still in high school and are debating about whether or not you'll make your acting debut after high school or if you're going to venture onto another career path. You still have time so you know you'll figure it out eventually. 

   Although having a ton of paparazzi swarming your house and you constantly can be overwhelming, you wouldn't trade your dad from the world. Despite his busy schedule, Tom always makes time for you and your mom. Your mom lives at home with you and works as the CEO of a major New York fashion company. She prefers her work rather than being in Hollywood. 

   You miss your dad though, it's been three months since you last saw him. He's wrapping up filming his new movie in a few days so you're hoping to see him after that. You're just sitting at the kitchen table doing your homework when the doorbell suddenly rings. You raise an eyebrow towards the door. You're not expecting any company so who on Earth could it be? You shout to your mom that you're going to get the door. When you open it, your dad is standing right in front of you.

    You jump into his arms as if you're still a little kid. He chuckles and catches you before the both of you fall to the ground. "Y/N, it's good to see you too. I've missed you so much. How are you?" You smile up at him. "I'm doing good and I missed you too. Mom's upstairs and will be down shortly. He nods and the two of you head into the kitchen. You two catch each other up on recent events while you finish up your homework. Your mom joins the two of you shortly and soon makes dinner. 

    For dinner, the three of you have roasted chicken, steak fries, and steamed broccoli. This is the first family dinner you've had in months and you're treasuring every minute of it because you don't know how many more you're going to get before your dad goes off to film another show or is caught up in filming a new TV show. "Dad, it's so nice to have you home." He smiles at you and puts a hand on your knee. "It's good to be home. Speaking of home, I have some good news for you and your mom." 

     You and your mom lean forward, eager to hear his news. "The good news is I'm taking a break from acting for a few months. I want to spend some more time with my family." You and your mom squeal before getting up to hug him once again. "Dad, that's amazing. We love and support your acting, but it'll be really nice getting to spend more time with you for awhile. We don't get enough of that." He winces slightly but covers it up quickly. "You got that right kid. Say, have you gotten bit by the acting bug yet?" 

    You shrug your shoulders. "Kind of but I'm not sure I want to throw myself even further into the limelight yet. I still have another year or so to figure that out. Even if I didn't do it full time, I could always do it on the side. Even if I did community theater somewhere, it'd still be an opportunity to act and showcase my talent." He nods in agreement. "Nothing wrong with that at all. Take your time in figuring it out. I want it to be your decision and no one else's." You smile at him understandingly. "Thanks Dad, I appreciate it. I've actually been going to work with mom lately to study the fashion world to see if that interests me. It does somewhat but not entirely." 

    Your mom playfully gasps and says "Fashion is love, fashion is life", causing the three of you to burst out into laughter. The laughter definitely makes up for all of the tears that have been shed over the past few months.
