If You Could Pay Attention to Me (Avengers + Loki)

"Hey kiddo, what are you doing up so early?" Steve greeted (Y/N) in the kitchen. It was currently 5:30 in the morning, much earlier than she usually woke up. He found her pouring tea into a mug. Upon closer inspection she looked tired, like she hadn't slept a wink. "You get enough sleep last night?" He asked while grabbing a mug for his coffee.

"Hm? Oh, yeah. Slept just fine." She waved him off with her answer, absent minded and distant. He knew something was wrong, she was never up this early. Did Tony wake her up? Did Nat? Did she finally decide that an alarm was a good investment? "How bout you, big guy?"

Steve looked at her once more, he saw hickeys on her neck, the red and purple blotches scattered across her skin. She was wearing an oversized T-shirt that he had never seen her wear before. He guessed he figured out why she was up so early. But who would've done it? "Yeah, slept like a baby. You sure you slept alright? It's not like you to be up this early."

"Just wanted to get a head start on the day." She explained and smiled at him. A toothy Cheshire grin, one that was meant to be warm but came off as unsettling. "Why? Is it so wrong to want to get things done?"

"No!" Steve answered, a little too quickly, "No, it's just that, okay I'm gonna be blunt here," he inhaled. "You've got hickeys all over your neck and you're hair is worse than usual. Who is it?"

"Who is what?" She asked, trying to play dumb. "I don't know what you're talking about, Steve." She decided now would be a good time to try to make a break for it but Steve wasn't having it. He grabbed her wrist pulling her closer to him.

"Who is it?" He asked once more. It seemed just as she was about to speak Tony had known that it was the perfect time to interrupt.

"Whoa there kids. Keep it in the bedroom. And Steve next time go a little easier on her, will ya? She looks like she was attacked by some wild animal." He quipped. It seemed as though Steve wasn't going to get an answer from her today. "And really (Y/N), wearing his shirt? Are you two gonna tell the team or..."

"It's not his shirt." She simply said.

"Well I know it's not yours. Who's is it?" Tony asked. Hoping to get some form of gossip to spread.

"Doesn't matter. All that matters is that he isn't getting it back." She stayed as she left the room, presumably to go back to hers.

"He, she said he, I heard that right didn't I?" Steve questioned. Tony nodded. Now the two of them had some snooping to do.

Later that day the team had a meeting in the conference room of the tower. Everyone, excluding (Y/N), was there. No one other than Steve and Tony really understanding why they were there. "Is this really necessary?" Questioned Nat, she was in the middle of her training when Tony had called her in for some "important business".

"Yes it is. We need to find out who (Y/N) is sleeping with. She was up early today and we know it's a guy. So if we can keep the two together-" Tony explained.

"If we try to push the two together that may end up driving them apart. You do understand that, Stark? Do you not?" Loki pointed out. It was his first time talking to him that day so naturally Tony had a suspicion.

"So just because your mom tried to get you and your dad to be closer doesn't mean that (Y/N) works the same way." Tony sassed back. "Or is there something we need to know?"

"He brings up a fair point, Tony. She may not have told you two because she wants you two to stay out of it." Clint piped up. A few people in the room nodded in agreement. "I think it'd be best if you guys stayed out of it and if she wants to tell you she will. In her own time."

At that point there were a few people who had completely checked out and others who were intently listening to what Clint had to say. Loki being one of the few who had checked out decided to leave. The only indication of his leave was the closing of the door on his way out. "Hey Tony, I think I'm gonna see what's up, you explain the plan to everyone else." Steve informed him.

While he was following Loki he had noticed a few things, the most obvious being that he wasn't going where Steve thought he would've. He was heading straight for the living area of the tower. What he certainly didn't expect was Loki to greet (Y/N) as warmly as he did.

"Good afternoon, my sweet. Everything alright?"

"Yeah Loki, everything is going well. I don't think that anyone knows yet." She responded with a chaste kiss on the lips.

"I wouldn't be so sure, darling. The tin can and toy soldier seem to have some suspicions." Loki started as he found his spot at her right on the couch, pulling her snugly into his side. "I know that you didn't want this getting out but maybe it should. They seem to think that if it remains a secret that it'll ruin you."

"They mean well, they just don't know how to put their interests out there very well. I just kinda wish they'd tell me as opposed to going behind my back about it." She vented. Steve was still processing what she had said when Tony called for him and alerted everyone in the vicinity of his presence.

"You find out where-" He stopped himself short as he saw Loki and (Y/N) on separate ends of the couch, him reading and her on her phone. "What are you doing here? Both of you."

The two looked at Steve and Tony in confusion, then to each other, and back. "More importantly why are you here? Didn't you have a meeting to be in Tony?" (Y/N) inquired.

"Got finished early. There a problem with that?"

"It's not that there's a problem with it being finished early, more so as to why it was finished early." Loki seethed. "So do tell, Stark, what was that meeting about anyway? Anything of importance or simply for your own benefit?"

"It was of importance and had you stayed the entire time you would've known that." Tony spat back, Steve needed to think of something quickly before they ripped each others throats out.

"Can I speak to you two, alone?"

The three men made their way to the hall adjacent to their previous room. "What is it, Rogers?" Tony said sharply, wanting to get done with whatever it was that he had in mind.

"Tony, I think it's best you stay out of (Y/N)'s relationship. She doesn't want you to be a part of it, she's obviously not telling you who it is for a reason. Now go tell everyone to just forget the whole find out who the mystery man thing." He sent Tony off. "And Loki, I know about your relationship. I'm not one hundred percent approving of it but that doesn't meant that I don't want you two to be happy. I won't tell anyone but I will put an end to it if tit gets out of hand."

Loki rolled his eyes and reluctantly agreed, it seemed that their secrets would all be kept another day longer.
