Leah's POV

I walked into me and Dylan's shared bedroom, ready to just get into comfy pajamas and out of these skinny jeans.

Just as I crossed the doorway, I saw duffel bags strewn across the bed, clothes filling some of them.

"Hey. You're home." I heard Dylan say from the closet.

"Yeah..." I trailed off. "What's all this?"

"I'm packing." He bluntly said, throwing another shirt into a bag.

"I see that. What for?" I continued, standing near the bed.

"I'm gonna- I have to leave. I got a part in a movie, Leah. I have to leave today or else I miss filming."

I froze, not able to speak. He was leaving? Why didn't he tell me he auditioned? Why didn't he tell me until today?

"And when we're you gonna tell me?" I calmly asked, looking down at my hands.

"About right now." He said, walking out of the closet. He walked to hm the dresser, pulling out socks.

"What- three minutes before you leave for months?" I snapped.

"Look- can we not do this? It's not like you bothered asking anyways..." He mumbled, shutting the drawer loudly.

"I'm sorry, I thought my boyfriend would tell me these things." I sarcastically shrugged, putting my hands on my hips.

"Oops." He sighed, zipping some of the bags up.

"Oops? You have the decency to say 'oops'?" I said, raising my voice.

"Fine. I didn't tell you. Sorry. Now that that's over, can I pack now?" He exclaimed, gesturing to his bags.

"Wow. You know what- pack all your stuff." I snapped. He stopped and looked at me, an annoyed expression on his face.

"What are you talking about?" He groaned, picking up a bag.

"I'm saying, pack all your things. You won't need them here anymore. Get out." I said. He raised his eyebrows at me before walking back to the dresser.

He angrily opened it, thrusting his hand in to grab the rest of his things. He pulled them out and threw them in a bag, slamming the drawer back shut.

"You know what- good. I didn't wanna come back anyway." He argued, before zipping the rest of his bags and picking them up as he left the bedroom.

I listened as he opened and slammed the front door, leaving me standing in our-

My bedroom.

I was left breathless, and not the good way. I felt like someone had just grabbed a shovel and dug a hole out of my chest.

My body slowly sunk to the ground, leaning my back against the frame of the bed.

It's over. He left me. And he wasn't coming back, not in months. Never. I had just ruined the best thing that's happened to me in the past 4 years. I had just lost my true love.

No wonder it hurt like hell.

I began sobbing uncontrollably, letting the tears fall from my face into my shirt. The more I cried, the more the argument played in my head.

The more I cried, the more it hurt.

My hands shakily raised to my face, covering my mouth. There was no use- sobs still racked my entire body.

This was the most pain- I'd ever felt. It wasn't like in the movies where he runs back and says he's sorry, or calls me and apologizes while saying he's on his way back right now to make it up to me.

Dylan was really gone. And I couldn't do anything about it.

A Week Later

Life was one, big, gigantic mess.

But maybe that was the point of it. Like a big puzzle. And our goal was to finish it.

Some people don't finish it. Some people are cut short and leave their puzzle half finished.

Some never figure out the puzzle, leaving them stuck in a point of no return.

Some finished it. Some found a will from their way and put all the pieces together, leading a full and happy life.

I had a feeling I wasn't one of those people.

I don't think I could ever finish my puzzle. I was stuck, I was missing some of my puzzle pieces.

Dylan was one of them.

I sighed, pulling on a pair of shoes. It's been awhile and my friend was worried about me. She said I needed to get out, see the light of day.

I walked out with my car keys in hand, unlocking it.

I hopped in the car, and started it up to drive. Pulling out of my driveway, it started raining. Not just a sprinkle, but it really poured down.

I continued on, driving down a road. Occasionally, cars drove by but this wasn't a too busy road.

It started raining harder, thunder echoed through my car windows. I saw a strike of lightning, almost close to me.

We must really be under a storm.

I drove a little faster, not wanting to be in the rain anymore. A three way intersection came up, causing me to slow down and release the gas when I came to the stop sign.

The car on my left began pulling out until another tried to drive in front of it, heading down my road.

It swerved, dodging the car that had pulled out but began spinning on the wet road. My eyes widened as I barreled towards me, but as soon as I registered it-

It had already hit me.

Third Person POV

That day, Leah wheeled into surgery on an ambulance gurney. A collapsed lung, broken ribs, and internal bleeding.

She wasn't breathing on her own anymore.

Multiple nurses and doctors swarmed her as they ran down the hospital hallway.

They, of course, did their job and did surgery. She was going to be fine- if she woke up.

Leah's friend had ran to the hospital, in tears as soon as they contacted her.

Now, her she was, five days later in the waiting room. Wondering, when in the hell her best friend would wake up.

Until he ran through the doors.

"Leah?" Dylan yelled, panicking as he didn't know where to start. He sprinted to the front desk, surprising the receptionist.

"Leah. She- she came in five days ago. Where is she?" He hurried out, heaving heavy breaths.

He did run all the way from the airport.

"I'm sorry- she's only taking immediate family. Are you family?" She questioned. He sighed.

"Fuck. No." He groaned, walking away from the desk. Dylan spotted Leah's friend and jogged up to her.

"How is she? What's going on?" He rushed.

"She still hasn't woken up." She said, her voice cracking. She didn't cry though. She's already emptied hers out.

"Shit." Dylan breathed out, running a hand through his messy hair.

"What are you doing here." She asked. Leah had told her the day after it happened, still crying.

"Because I care about her?" Dylan snapped, as if the answer was obvious.

"Not so much if you leave her without barely telling her." Her friend retorted. She was pissed.

"I know." He sighed. "I know I screwed up. And I'm going to apologize. I'm going to do whatever the hell I can to make up for it when she wakes up."

"If she wakes up." He friend breathed out. She didn't want to say it, but they had no idea if she was going to.

"When. She's going to wake up." Dylan said, denying the fact. He refused to believe Leah wouldn't wake up. It just couldn't happen.

But now that he was thinking about it, could that happen? Could she not wake up? Could she die, with her last memory of him being that awful?

Dylan's breaths quickened and he started shaking his head. He couldn't take this. He had to get out of here.

"I have to go." He said, walking towards the doors.

"Dylan!" Her friend shouted but he was already gone.

He didn't know where he was going but he knew it wasn't going to be here.

She sighed, sitting herself back in the waiting room chair when loads of beeping went off.

Doctors ran into Leah's room, grabbing clip boards, checking monitors.

They were all rushing around when the beeping stopped. They froze, looking down at Leah's bed.

She had woken up.

Everything after that, was calm. Despite the excitement of the situation. Her family greeted her, hugging her and hugging each other. Her friend cried in her arms, telling her how much she felt while sitting here.

Leah was overwhelmed by the amount of attention so every one left her and her friend alone to talk.

"How are you feeling?" Her friend asked. Leah chuckled.

"Alive."

He friend rolled her eyes. Leah- of course one to pull a joke like that.

"Does he know?" Leah brought up.

Her friend debated on whether to tell her he was here. He left her here. He left her in the first place.

But Leah loved him. She deserved to know he was at least back.

"Yeah. He- he came back." She nodded. Leah's eyes lit up.

"Where is he?" She asked, hope shining in her eyes.

"Right here." Dylan smiled. Leah's friend almost groaned. Of course he's here.

"I'll leave you two alone." Her friend sighed, getting up from the chair they had placed next to Leah's bed.

Dylan took her seat, putting Leah's hand in his.

"Hi." Leah said, a small smile almost on her face.

"You're awake." He smiled, trying hard not to let tears fall.

Leah nodded.

"I'm sorry." He quickly said. "And don't give me that bullshit 'no it's my fault' because it wasn't. It was mine. I should've told you about the audition, I should've told you I got the part and most of all I should've told you about leaving."

"It's okay-"

"No." Dylan interrupted. "No. It's not. You can't forgive me like that. I don't deserve it. After hearing you were in that accident, I felt a million times worse about what I did. Maybe if I had just told you in the first place, we wouldn't be here. But, now I realize I can't live with out you. And I'm going to prove myself to you."

"I'm going to prove that I deserve you and that I'm sorry."

"Dylan-" Leah sighed.

"I'm serious. Let me do this. And I promise, nothing like this will ever happen again."

Leah only smiled and nodded, causing Dylan to let out a breath of relief.
