I added a thing in here:
Psst... vintage_grace also writes Peter P (and Tom Holland) imagines that you should totally go check out. They're rad. Really well written. Cool. Interesting. Different. New. All the good adjectives.
Summary: Peter invites you as his plus one to a party in the Avengers Base - thrown by Tony. Fun and banter ensue.
QOTP: Avengers Base or Stark Tower?
Word Count: 1805
When Peter invited you to be his plus one to a party at the Avengers Base, you excitedly agreed. Then, two hours later, you realized you had no idea what you were getting into. Choosing an outfit for this thing was like picking out a prom dress - and the shoes, jewelry, hair, and make-up to match it. At the very least, Peter didn't have to buy you a corsage.
However, you managed to put together an outfit and here you are, standing outside the Avengers Base with your best friend, about to puke because you're so nervous. Why, you have no idea; Peter isn't your boyfriend, so it doesn't really matter if Tony Stark (aka his dad) and the other Avengers like you or not.
That fact doesn't calm you in the slightest.
"You comin'?" Peter asks. He's already ahead of you, opening the door. You'd been staring up at the base.
"Y-Yeah," you say, walking over to him. He holds the door open, then walks in behind you. You stop and wait for him to get in front of you again, so he can lead the way to where Tony said the party would be.
When you get there, there's a lot of people, so Peter grabs your hand and leads you through the crowd, going to find Tony.
You blush, thinking about the fact that Peter's holding your hand, then blush even deeper when he laces your fingers together. Little did you know, Peter had to work up the courage to even think about doing that.
Eventually, Peter finds Tony and leads you to him. He's talking to Bruce Banner, but he stops when he sees you and Peter. "Hey, Underoos! Glad you could make it!"
You stifle a laugh as Peter sighs, still holding your hand. "Hey, Mr. Stark." He looks at Bruce. "Hey, Mr. Banner."
"Hey, Peter," he replies.
Tony raises an eyebrow and gestures to you, noting the fact that you're holding Peter's hand. "You gonna introduce us, Pete?"
"Uh, yeah," Peter says. He gestures to you. "This is Y/N."
"Hi," you say shyly.
Tony smiles and holds a hand out. "Hi. Tony Stark. It's nice to finally meet you."
You let go of Peter's hand to shake Tony's, then Bruce introduces himself and you shake his. As you make small talk, both and you Peter silently debate on whether or not to grab the other's hand again.
"Man of Spider!" someone suddenly shouts.
Peter turns and spots Thor coming toward him through the crowd. "Thor!"
"Well, I'll just be going, then," Tony says, walking off.
Bruce follows, leaving you with a small, "Good luck."
Thor reaches the two of you and picks Peter up in a bone-crushing hug. "Man of Spider, you have grown since I last saw you!"
"Thor, you saw me last week," Peter replies as Thor sets him down.
"Yes, but you've gotten taller." He suddenly notices you standing there. "Oh, hello! You must be Peter's girlfriend. I'm Thor-"
"She's not my girlfriend," Peter says. "We're just friends."
"Yeah," you confirm. "I'm Y/N." You hold your hand out, thinking he's going to shake your hand.
However, he picks you up like he did Peter. "Any just friend of the Man of Spider is a just friend of mine!" He, thankfully, sets you down. Then, he decides to lead the two of you to the bar.
Peter follows closely behind Thor and grabs your hand, again using the crowd as an excuse. When you reach the bar, you spot Tony, Bruce, Clint Barton, Steve Rogers, and Stephen Strange. Thor asks the bartender for two beers, which you assume are both for him.
Instead, when he gets them, he hands one to Peter. "Here you go, Man of Spider."
Tony notices this interaction, does a spit-take, and runs over. "Thor, no, the kid is sixteen."
Thor nods and hands Peter the second beer. "You are a growing boy."
"Thor, no," Tony says, taking both beers from Peter. Then, he takes Thor away, too. "Please stay away from the children."
"But-"
"I beg of you."
By that point, they're out of earshot. You and Peter turn to each other and instantly burst out laughing. After you get over your laughing fit, Peter introduces you to the other Avengers and Stephen Strange (whom he calls 'Mr. Wizard'). Natasha Romanoff shows up while you're talking to Steve, so you meet her as well.
At some point, you decided to order drinks - virgin ones, of course. Your nerves start to melt away as you realize that Peter's nonbiological family actually likes you.
Eventually, the Avengers and other superheroes break off and go to do their own things, so Peter turns to you and asks, "Wanna go out to the balcony?"
"Yeah," you reply. You both grab your half-full drinks from the table and head out, Peter leading you.
When you make it to the balcony, Peter goes to sit in the empty chair in the corner, but you lean on the railing, holding a drink in one hand. You sigh. "I feel like Jay Gatsby right now."
Peter chuckles. "Have you even read that book?"
"No," you reply. "We're supposed to read it in English next year, so I'm just gonna wait until then."
"If you haven't read it, how would you know what you're feeling right now can be defined by Jay Gatsby?" Peter asks.
You sigh deeply, turning to look at him. "Then I guess I feel like what I think Jay Gatsby is like. Leave me alone, Underoos."
He playfully glares at you over the nickname. "Take that back!"
You laugh. "No, Spider-Boy."
"It's Spider-Man," he replies.
You snort. "You're sixteen, Pete. Not eighteen."
"Well, in spider years I'm an adult, so your argument is invalid," he replies.
You sigh. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
"It's true!"
You chuckle a little, turning back around to face the railing. "I can't believe we're sitting out here debating over this."
Peter chuckles, too, leaving his drink on the floor as he gets up to join you. "It's the drinks."
"They don't have any alcohol in them."
"No, but they have a lot of sugar to substitute for the lack of alcohol. And you've had about four and a half now."
You start to reply defensively, then realize he's had less than you. "Well, you've had... two."
He laughs. "One and a half, actually. But close enough."
You set your drink on the wide railing and sigh. It goes quiet for some time, both of you looking at the stars above your heads; you can never see this many deep in the city, where you both live.
Your hand is resting on the railing, halfway between you and Peter. He takes a few minutes, but he works up the courage to reach over shyly and put his hand on yours. You blush, turning your hand to lace your fingers together, causing Peter to smile even wider than before.
It's the third time you've held hands tonight, but it still gives you both the rush it gave you the first time.
Suddenly, Peter speaks. "Can... Can I tell you something?"
You turn towards him, still holding his hand. "Yeah, of course."
He takes a few moments and a deep breath, then says, "When I asked you to come with me to this, I said we were just going as friends..."
"Yeah?" you ask; he paused for a while.
"I... I didn't really want us to go as just friends... 'cause I... I like you. A lot," he says, looking at you hopefully.
You step closer to him and take his other hand, a small smile on your face. "Well, it may just be the sugar talking, but I like you a lot, too."
"Really?" he asks quietly, smiling.
You reply just as quietly and with an identical smile. "Really."
He hesitates for a few seconds, but then he steps forward a little, leaving barely any space between you. Your heart is about to beat out of your chest, and you're sure that he can hear it. Without even realizing it, you're moving closer to him, too.
He lets go of your hands and moves his to cup your cheeks, then leans down toward you a little, just inches away. He talks so quietly that no one could've heard him but you. "Can I... Can I kiss you...?"
You nod ever so slightly in response, so he gently presses his lips to yours. Your hands make their way to his shoulders as you kiss him back, then you wrap your arms around his neck and somehow manage to pull him closer. You eventually have to pull away for air.
"Wow," you say breathless.
He's also breathless. "You took the words right out of my mouth."
"Wanna do that again?" you reply after a few seconds. He nods, so you lean forward, going to kiss him again. He's looking forward to it, too, but then someone decides to come out onto the balcony at just that moment.
"That drink is going to fall off that railing and break," Tony says, walking outside, "and that glass is expensive." You jumped apart the second you heard him, and now there's about five feet between you and you're both blushing like crazy. Tony chuckles. "Oh, don't stop making out on account of me; I just ask that you move that glass."
"We-We weren't making out," Peter says. It's true; you hadn't been kissing for very long, and it was your first kiss ever, and that has to count for something.
Tony believes none of it. "Mhmm, Underoos. Sure you weren't."
He slips back inside, then, and, after a few moments, you take your glass and set it down next to Peter's. Then, you look over at him. "Well..."
"Well," Peter repeats.
"That was awkward."
"Yeah..."
After a moment, you both start laughing. Once you've stopped, you walk back over to him and wrap your arms around him. "Thanks for bringing me, Pete. It's been wonderful."
He smiles. "You're welcome. But it's not quite over yet. You haven't met Scott."
Your brows furrow. "Who's Scott?"
"I'm gonna go big!" you suddenly hear from inside.
This is followed by Tony shouting, "Not inside, Scott!"
Peter laughs. "That's Scott."
"I'm gonna go little!"
"Scott, no!"
