Summary: You aren't dating. Apparently.

QOTP: Ant-man or Doctor Strange?

Word Count: 2308

Bruce -
You're at a party in Avenger's Tower, hosted by Tony, obviously. The whole night, you've been with Bruce, your best friend.

You're both scientists, so you work together a lot, and the friendship just sort of happened. You're pretty comfortable around each other; some would say you're more comfortable than friends typically are.

This is due in part because you and Bruce both like each other, but are too oblivious to notice and too scared to say anything.

So, after just about everyone who doesn't live at the tower has left, you're all sitting around and talking. By this point, you're getting tired, so you lay your head on Bruce's shoulder and he casually wraps his arm around you.

You zone out for most of the conversation, but you pay attention when you hear Tony say, "Alright, Natasha, serious question. Out of all of us, who do you wanna date the most?"

Natasha cocks an eyebrow, then glances at you and Bruce. "Well, I'd say Bruce, but he's already taken."

Your brows furrow. "What?"

"We aren't dating," Bruce says, confused.

Everyone looks at you two incredulously. Tony snorts. "Mhmm."

Bucky -
He's been kidnapped. You weren't sure how or why for a while, but you tirelessly worked to find him and figured out it was someone associated with Hydra. Probably did it for revenge.

When you found out he was missing, you all but broke down, then immediately set out to find him.

Meanwhile, Bucky was doing his best to resist this guy's attempts at getting him to go Winter Soldier. He put that all behind him when he met you - you helped him.

The guy's tortured and taunted him, though Bucky's endured worse.

"You know, any minute now, someone's gonna come bustin' in here and kill you. I'm friends with the Avengers."

"Oh, I'm aware," the man says. "I've taken precautions. So don't expect your little girlfriend - what's her name? - Y/N to come save you."

Bucky quietly corrects him. "We aren't dating."

The man smirks. "Oh, but you wish it were true, don't you? But-"

"Well, I wouldn't object." In typical action movie fashion, you enter at just the right time with a great line and the other Avengers trailing behind you, trying to keep up.

The man's face goes pale. "Crap."

Clint -
It's one of the rare moments when the world isn't in peril, and you decide to go out with Clint, one of your best friends. No one else would go with you, so here you are.

You've been out all day, shopping, walking, eating, etc. It's late now, and you're walking back to the base. The temperature starts dropping as the sun sets.

"I'm cold," you comment, rubbing your arms.

Clint starts taking off his jacket. "Here."

You shake your head. "No, that's okay. I'll manage." He takes his jacket off anyway and drapes it over your shoulders. You go to take it off. "But now you're gonna be cold."

"I'm fine, Y/N. Just take the dang jacket." He's teasing; you can tell by his tone.

You blush a little and put the coat on. "Thanks."

Clint smiles and sighs. "I'm a great boyfriend."

You blanch. "We aren't dating."

Clint shrugs. "Well, if we were, I'd be a great boyfriend."

You can only nod. "Uh huh."

Loki -
Loki's recently sided with the Avengers in his quest to be good; mainly because of you, and also because he genuinely regrets everything he's done wrong thus far.

You met during the Battle of New York, and he took a liking to you immediately. He never said anything about it, though - not even after the fight with Thanos, which he helped you win. After, he wanted to help you permanently, and everyone objected but you and Thor. So, he was allowed to stay, but no one really trusted him.

Now, he's been helping for a few months, going on missions SHIELD can't carry out anymore because it's "gone". You, Loki, Clint, and Natasha went on this mission, which was kinda awkward considering what happened before...

Anyway, you and Clint got hurt - nothing worse than a sprain - and you were limping into the base, Loki half-carrying you and Natasha half-carrying Clint. You and Loki were in front, Nat and Clint in the back.

Tony and Steve came down to help get you to the medical wing. Tony smirked. "Well, aren't you two love birds just adorable."

Immediately, the four of you say simultaneously, "We're not dating."

Tony laughs. "Oh, I already know Nat and Bird Brain back there are hiding something. I was talking about you two." He looks at you and Loki.

To everyone's surprise, Loki doesn't say anything else. Doesn't even correct him, like before. You glance up at him, then back at Tony. "Whatever, Tin Can. Can you fix my ankle or not?"

Loki lets Tony take you to the medical wing, thinking about you as he heads back to his room.

Peter -
You and Peter are best friends - have been since middle school - so you hang out all the time. Usually with Ned and/or Michelle now, but sometimes just the two of you.

Neither of you can lie; you both have a huge crush on each other, and it's obvious to everyone but you. So obvious, that after you leave Peter's apartment, May starts asking questions.

"So, what'd you guys do?" she asks, leaning on the counter opposite Peter, who's sitting and texting Ned.

"Studied for our Chem test," Peter replies, barely looking up.

"Is that all?"

Her questioning tone causes Peter to set down his phone. "What do you mean?"

May shrugs. "I mean, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to, it's just, you guys are together and all-"

"What?!" Peter shouts. "We aren't dating!"

May seems confused. "Really? I could've swore you were."

"We're not."

"Well, you sure act like it."

Peter shrugs, picking his phone back up. "I wish we were. I'm too afraid to say anything, though... It could ruin our friendship."

"Go for it," May says. "I'm 100% sure she likes you. And if she says no, I know she won't let that come between you guys. And you won't either."

Peter thinks for a second. "Okay... Yeah. Okay. I'll ask her out tomorrow." He stands, heading for his room. "Thanks, Aunt May."

She gets a wine glass from the cabinet above her. "Just doin' my job."

Pietro -
You're standing in the kitchen, making a sandwich when someone wraps their arms around your shoulders from behind. You know who it is immediately and smile. "Hey, Pietro."

You can hear the smile in his voice. "Hello, Y/N."

Bruce walks in, glances at you, grabs a banana, and hurries out, probably heading back to the lab. In that time, you finish making your sandwich and Pietro still hasn't moved, so you turn in his arms to face him. "Is there any particular reason for this?"

He shrugs. "I was bored, and you're entertaining."

You cock an eyebrow. "Entertaining?"

"Sometimes, yes."

"Sometimes?"

"Alright, get a room," Clint suddenly says, walking in.

You jump and Pietro pulls away. "We're in a room."

Clint sighs. "Ha ha. I'm serious. While you two are an agonizingly adorable couple, you-"

"We're not dating," you correct, brows furrowing.

Clint's silent for a solid thirty seconds. "I'm sorry, what?"

"We're not dating," you repeat. "Never have been."

"I..." Clint sighs again and starts to leave. "You know what? I don't even want Oreos anymore."

Steve -
"You're sure you can make it?" you ask again.

Steve smiles. "Of course I can. I wouldn't miss it."

He's referring to your weekly movie night, during which you try to catch him up on as many movies as possible before one of you falls asleep. He has something else scheduled with Bucky about an hour before, and you weren't sure if he'd make it back time.

You grin. "Okay... So, more Disney? Or Steven Spielberg? Because he's made a lot of movies."

"How about both?" Steve suggests.

You nod, smiling. "Okay."

"I'll bring the popcorn."

"Great. See ya then."

You leave, and Steve turns to Sam, who's been standing there silently the whole time. He and Steve were on a run in the park when they ran into you and talked for a bit. Then, Steve mentioned those plans with Bucky and so on and so forth.

Sam's smirking. "You're ridiculous."

"What?" Steve asks, confused.

"So, how long you been with her?" Sam asks. "As soon as you met or did it take you forever to work up the courage-"

"What?" Steve asks. "We're not dating. I'm not with her."

Sam gives him an incredulous look. "Are you sure? Because you sure act like it. I mean, weekly movie nights? That's the most domestic thing I've ever heard. And exactly how long have you known her?"

Steve shrugs. "Met her a little bit after I woke up from the ice." You were working at a coffee shop at the time that Steve took a liking to, and you quickly became friends. When you found about the whole Cap situation, you insisted upon getting him caught up with everything. So, here you are.

Sam sighs. "If you haven't made a move now, then... Man, I'm disappointed in you."

Steve shrugs. "I don't think she likes me like that."

Sam stops. "What are you, a hundred? You sound like you're in middle school."

Steve laughs. "Alright, fine. I'll talk to her Friday."

Thor -
Thor is having heated debate about Poptarts with Peter Quill. Loki is uninterestingly reading in the corner.

"That's exactly why-" Thor starts.

He's interrupted by you. "Thor, Thor, Thor, Thor!" you shout excitedly, running in the room. You stop in front of him, breathless. "I've been looking everywhere for you."

Thor completely turns his attention to you, leaving Peter to just stand there and Loki to look up at your excitement. "What for?" Thor asks.

You hold up your phone, which you've been holding in your hand, and show him a picture of puppy. "Look at this puppy!"

Thor grins, then looks at you. "It's adorable, Lady Y/N."

"I know! I wish Tony would let me get one to keep at the base." You frown. "I think I'm gonna try to get Banner on my side. That might help." You run off, shouting, "Bye!"

"Bye, Lady Y/N!"

Loki snorts once you're gone. "What an adorable relationship you've got there, Brother."

"Relationship?" Thor says, confused. "We're not dating."

Peter looks surprised. "Really? I mean, a friend doesn't run around a huge Avengers base looking for you just to show you a picture of a puppy."

"It was a cute puppy," Thor replies, shrugging.

"Was it just the puppy that was cute?" Peter asks, cocking an eyebrow.

Thor frowns. "What do you mean?"

"Dude, I saw the way you looked at her," Peter says. "You like her, right?" Thor sheepishly nods and Peter gestures to the hall you just ran down. "Well, I think she thinks you're cute, too. If you aren't dating already, then you should be."

"He's right," Loki chimes in. "And, in any case, I can usually tolerate her from time to time. More than any of your other girlfriends."

Thor thinks for a second. "Well, I can't just tell her how I feel. I must have a-a grand gesture of sorts..." His faces lights up and he starts to head out immediately. "I'm going to the pet store! I'll be right back!"

Tony -
"Where is my tape measure?" Tony asks, mostly to himself, looking around his lab. You're there just 'cause. Peter Parker's there to get fitted for a new suit.

When Tony asks that, you get extremely distressed; there's two jokes you could make right now.

Luckily, a smirking Peter Parker chooses for you. "I'll do you one better: Who is my tape measure?"

"I'll do you one better: Why is my tape measure?" you quote just before you and Peter burst into laughter.

Tony, looking absolutely exasperated, sighs deeply. "Do you two have to do that every time I ask a question?"

You put your hands up in mock surrender. "First of all, you walked right into that one. Secondly, Peter started it."

"Hey!" Peter says.

You shake your head. "I was gonna do an Incredibles joke, then you-"

"Can we please?" Tony says. You and Peter go silent as he continues to search.

You look at Peter, trying not to laugh. "I'll do you one better-"

"I'm leaving," Tony says monotonously. "I am leaving here and never coming back. You two will have to fend for yourselves."

"I'm the backbone of this household, Anthony," you say as he finds the tape measure.

He starts to measure Peter. "I swear I'm going to leave."

"Aw, come on, Mr. Stark," Peter jokes, "you wouldn't break up with her over that, would you?"

You and Tony both stop, leaving all three of you confused. You look at Peter quizzically. "We're not dating."

His face goes red. "Y-You're not?"

"No," Tony says, taking down measurements. "The first five times I asked her out, she said no, so I stopped trying."

You snort. "That was years ago, Stark. That was, like, before the Avengers were even assembled. Also, you only asked me out three times."

"What difference does that make?" Tony replies. "You still would've said no."

You shrug. "Maybe not. Fourth time's a charm."

Tony hesitates for a second, then continues to measure Peter. "Then, me and you, dinner, Friday night at six?"

"Sounds good to me."

It's goes quiet for a second, then Peter says, "Wait, did I just do something there?"
