Chapter 45: Wrath of the Flame Blades
The cry echoed all around the battle field. Many poeple looked towards us, one or two even flew down towards us.
I staggered over to Reflamen's body. He was lying on his side, his eyes were open, and he looked like he had been in pain.
"Reflamen," I said, falling onto the dragons side, "Please wake up. Please, please wake up."
I stroked his scales, it felt like something had been ripped out of me, and it hurt, literaly hurt. My head was in pain and I felt myself sliding away. My vision blured as the tears started to come out.
"Reflamen," I cried, "Wake up!"
I felt myself slipping further and further, the pain was getting greater, then I heard laughing. It was hesterical. I looked up at Oreman, who was standing near the wall I ha smashed him into.
"That idiot dragon," he laughed, "What sought of beast would do that, his rider would die anyway."
I felt the anger starting to rise, until I broke. I stood up, staring at the king, heat was literaly radiating from me. I had my hands by my sides, then I summoned my two swords. Instead of the usual flick of fire, the swords exploded into my hands, and they were on fire. They were so hot that the ground around me started to melt away.
I started to walk towards the king, looking at him in shear hatred. He was staring at me in surprise.
"That's impossible," he said, staggering back, "Usually riders die soon after there dragon."
I smiled, one that never reached my eyes, "Riders only die becaused when there dragons do something is literaly ripped right out of them, there soul, but if the rider manages to push through the pain, usually with some help. They become a fource to be reconed with, and unfortunalty for you, you just killed a dragon, and you will die."
I said it all calmly, even though on the inside I was burning up. The king staggered back.
"You know," I said, "The most dangerous enemy is one that has nothing to loose."
I suddenly jumped at Oreman, aiming the swords at his heart. He went to push them out of the way but as soon as his trident hit them, an explosion happened, blasting the king a few metres. He quickly rolled back to his feet.
I charge after him, swinging my swords in a deadly ark. The king rolled out of the way but my second sword came after him, which he blocked, causing another explosion, knocking him way back. I was now completely focused on the king, nothing else mattered right now except killing him.
I swung my swords so fast they were a blur, the king strubbling to block them, especially since everytime he did an explosion happened. We were surrounded in fire now, everything was red. I hit the kings staff with both my swords, causing another massive explosion.
The king backed off, but I kept coming, hamering Oreman with blow after blow. He struggled to block them, but finally had a shot. He cast a will spell at me, knocking me back, then jumped towards me with a massive blow. I ducked under it, slicing at his legs. The king jumped but I was to quick and cut his legs with my swords, burning through his clothes.
The king cried out in pain. He stumbled back, trying to get some distance, but I kep on attacking, never giving him a chace. The king blocked from the side, then the top, then the bottom, all in a very fast fasion. I was pushing him back, but I didn't care, I just wanted that idiot dead.
My eyes were focused only on the king, staring him in the eyes the whole time, yet placing my blows perfectly. I hated the man in front of me. I had never hated anyone before, so this was a new fealing, but I welcomed it, letting my anger burst forth like a volcano. I let it feed into my arms and legs, then into my swords, giving me all the strength I could ever want. The swords got hotter, the strokes got stronger, and the determination to see him dead was running through me like a hurricane.
I cried out and struck Oreman's staff with all the strength I could muster, letting him be blown away by another massive explosion. I charged after him, swinging my blades with deadly accurancy, chopping at his head and limbs with everything I had. The ground around me was beginning to melt, with the shear heat of the blades, but I didn't care. The only thing I cared about was killing the man who dared take the most precious thing away from me.
I struck at him again and again, blasting him back everytime. He didn't even stand a chance. I just kept on coming not even giving the king a break. Suddenly he cast a wind spell, taking him of the ground. I did the same and now we started fighting in the air.
I smashed into the king, swords grappling for his heart. He hit them aside again, but I just went back on the attack. To the on lookers down below it looked like a huge fireball beeting at a man, both flying through the air with magnificent speed.
I didn't feel exhausted in the slightest, all I wanted to do was destroy Oreman, I couldn't feel anything other then hate at that moment. I smashed into Oreman again and again, making him drop a few inchers towards the ground every time. Suddenly, with a huge over head blow, I blasted the king into the ground, smashing into it like a rock.
He got up from the creater he had created, but I wasn't surprised in the least, I just flew down and started swing at him again. Now that we were on the ground, it started to melt again, this time a lot quicker.
I smashed into the king again. Trying my best to get that killing blow, I wasn't going to stop until I did. It even started raining, but the only thing that would stop me would be the king's blood seeping through the ground.
The king was limping heavily, trying his best to keep his feet. The wound I had caused him earlier was festering, the rain didn't help the pain much either, causing the burns to cry out in pain. The king stumbled, and the next blow I struck caused another massive explosion, knocking the king from the crater to the outside.
I jumped out of the creater after him, but he was gone. I couldn't see him anywhere.
"SHOW YOURSELF COWARD!" I screamed, my voice cracked.
I suddenly saw a movement, and without thinking, shot at it was a huge fireball from my swords. The fireball smashed into the ruins, making the whole thing blow up. The king was there, trying to catch his breath.
I let out a war cry and charged at him again. The king got his trident and stood up, meeting my blows full force. He was now starting to get beaten back, again. I swung as fast as I could, the ground below turning into liquid rock, the rain creating a steam like fog, hot enough to roast a man, but I wasn't effected in the slightest.
The king however was forst to cast a protective spell, in fear of getting cooked. I was now walking on the top of the lava, still striking at the king. The rain kept falling. The king had cast a spell of air on himself, making him able to float in the air, but that was only exhausting him further.
I crossed my swords over each other, the struck at the king, drawring both swords out, causing the king to get blown away yet again, into solid ground. I ran at him, my swords raised high. The king pointed his staff and shot a darkness ball at me. Without thinking I swung my swords at the ball, catching it in mid air.
The ball exploded, throughing me away almost a hundred feet. I landed on my back, and a bone cracked. Pain exploded from my back and the anger started to die away. The fire surrounding the swords started to disappear, and the ground was starting to call down.
As a lay there in the rain, I looked up at the sky, and for the first time in a long time, started to cry, and I mean cry. Tears ran down my face, and I sobbed. The sobs came in large shudders, each one sending a sharp pain through my back.
'I'm sorry Reflamen,' I thought, 'I'm sorry none of this worked out. I'm a failour, I should have never left my guard down, and now your dead, and I'm lying hepless, paralized in the rain. I'm a big fat failour.'
'Don't give up yet,' said a voice in my head, 'You have so much power at your disposal, all you need to do is use it. Think Derrick, your not defeated yet.'
I looked around for the voice, "Hello!"
I looked back up at the sky, then I sudden memory popped into my head. It was the time just before the journy to Taknor. I was in the car again, and I was imagining. I was... imagining!
I smiled, then I imagined a warm feeling go down my back, and all my wounds healed. I got up, just as the king walked over the hill. I looked over to him, and smiled.
