Chapter 39: The Forbidden Blade
As I fell into the darkness, I imagined, I imagined myself, dreaming about the batte to come, and the fight between Derrick and the King. I fell into a pit of darkness, which wasn't dark for long, the battle field suddenly was put into focus.
Derrick and the king were looking towards me with surprise. The king was still clutching his injured arm, but as he began to see that I was out cold, he laughed, a very gruesom laugh.
"Hahaha!" he laughed, "That boy is just the funniest thing ever, he fights so well but when it comes to power he faints like a man that hasn't slept in days."
The king was smiling when he pointed his staff at my prone body. Suddenly a dark bolt of shadow shot from the staff, straight towards me. Just before the blast hit, it exploded, going around me with dark shadows, but leaving my body untouched.
The king hesitated, "What just happened? No one could even hope to block that, let alone survive it."
Derrick smiled, "That kid really is amazing."
He looked towards the king and got his sword in his ready position. The king saw his movement and turned towards him.
"Are you seriously going to fight me?" said the king, "You've seen what I've done to your companions, and that was when there were three of you."
Derrick nodded his head, "I know perfectly well, but you forgot one thing, that staffed was the only thing you used, no skill at all, you let the staff do all the work. It may be an extremely powerful weapon, but with someone as week as you, you shouldn't be much of a problem."
The king howled in rage, "I'LL SHOW YOU WEEK!"
He pointed his staff at Derrick and let a huge beam of darkness come out of it. Derrick rolled out of the way, took a throwing knife out of his belt, and threw it, right towards the kings legs, all in less then a second. The kings staffed moved into the way of the knife, making it deflect of it. The king snarled a beaslty snarl.
Derrick threw another knife, then another. The king blocked every single one of them, snarling every time Derrick threw one. Suddenly Derrick charged, swing his blade up high, then making it come crashing down towards the king's head. Oreman's staff got in the way. Derrick instantly swung his sword in an understroke, which the king also blocked.
Derrick then began to unleash a fury of blows on the king, not giving him any time to attack. The staff moved hurridly into the way of each stroke, and the king was trying his best to keep up. Finally Derrick stepped back. He was breathing at his normal rate, not exhausted in the slightest. The king, on the other hand, was a completely different story. He was gasping for air and trying his best to keep himself standing.
He reached up and touched his injured arm, which still had a large burn across the bottom. He held the staff weekly, trying to keep it from slipping from his grip. The king snarled angrily.
"You will pay," said the king.
He was breathing very heavily now, if he was a dragon fire would be coming from his mouth. He suddenly thrust his hand at Derrick, probably using a spell of will, because Derrick was blasted towards a nearby rubble pile. Just before he reched the pile the sword pointed itself towards it. The sword became shrowded in shadow, which suddenly shot forward, hitting the pile. A wirl pool of shadow was created, and Derrick landed right in the middle of it, and disappeared. I looked to the other side of the pile.
Derrick was standing there, looking extremely surprised. He looked at himself, then the pile. He frowned then started to climb to the top. The king looked very pleased with himself, but when he saw Derrick climb from the pile, he almost fell over in surprise. He narrowed his eyes and put up his hand, summoning a fireball. He then threw it at the rubbel.
Derrick saw the fireball coming and jumep to another pile. The fireball made the pile blow up, spraying peices of rubbel everywhere. The king growled in annoyance then through another fireball, which Derrick aslo dodged. He started to run across the piles of rubbel, dodging fireballs that came his way. He ran in a complete circle, towards the first place the rubbel had been hit.
He saw what was coming and lept off the pile. While he was in the air he thrust his hand out and shot a lightning bolt at Oreman. The king's staff saved him yet again, but the blast pushed him back quite a few metres.
Derrick saw his chance and ran at the king. The king saw him coming and casted another will spell. Derrick's sword shot up and blocked the invisible force. As soon as Derrick got to the king he struck, with all his might. The king met it with a strike of his own, both with two hands. The king suddenly spun, breaking the locked blades. Derrick took the chance and struck at the king with his blade. The back of the king's staff blocked the blow and the front half swung around at Derrick's head. He ducked then struck at the place between the kings two hands. The staff and the sword clanged together with a large clang. Derrick then moved as fast as he could and thrust his elbow into the king's stomach. Derrick jumped back.
The king doubled over and growned, his staff quickly coming back up to protect him as Derrick attempted to land another hit. Suddenly a huge crash was heard. Derrick and the king looked over at the source of the crash. Terror had finally been brought to the ground.
'We did it,' said Reflamen, 'Finally.'
"Took you long enough,' I said jokingly.
'Oh shut up,' said Reflamen.
Terror struggled to get himself up again. When he did, the three dragons attacked, bighting him and smashing into him. Terro roared and let loose a torrent of flame at the dragons. Reflamen and Shadowrang swurved out of the way, but Sophire wasn't so lucky. Being the biggest of the three she was also the slowest. The plowed right into her, swallowing her up. When Terror finally stopped breathing his deadly fire, Sophire started to plumet towards the ground, with a smoke trail behind her.
'Oh no!' I said, 'Sophire!'
Reflamen swooped down to rescue her. He grabbed her back then started trying to lift her into the air. He was really struggling, it was hard enough to lift his own weight into the air. Terror decided to attack at that very moment. He swung his gigantic tail at Reflamen and Sophire.
'Reflamen! Look out!' I yelled.
The tail smashed into him. Reflamen grunted in surprise and let go of Sophire, and was blasted into a near by rubbel pile.
'Reflamen!' I yelled, 'Reflamen are you alright! Reflamen!'
'Yeah... I'm alright,' said Reflamen, 'I just need a...'
Before he finished the sentence he fell unconscious.
'At least he's alive,' I thought, I sent my thoughts out to Shadowrang, 'Look, Shadowrang. You're on you own now, Reflamen has been knocked unconscious, and I don't know about Sophire. It's up to you Shadowrang, do what ever it takes.'
'Coppy that Derrick,' said Shadowrang.
I was surprised he wasn't surprised at me talking to him. Shadowrang turned to face Terror, who was now fully on his feet. The two dragons stared at each other, watching there every move. Shadowrang snarled, then charged, taking on his shadow form.
Derrick and the king were still doing battle. The king was exhausted, but he kept on his feet, keeping up to Derrick's every move. Derrick himself was breathing smoothly, calmly blocking and attacking, keeping a clear mind. He twurled and struck gracefully, were as the king was more arkward, trying to keep his balance.
Derrick struck slightly to the left, then the right, right again, then from below, never slowing and keeping his movements unprodictable. The king was striking as fast as he could, but he could never land a hit on Derrick, in fact, Derrick never even used the powers of his sword, even with a normal sword he would probably keep the king on his toes.
Derrick ducked under another one of Oreman's lousy strokes, the stabbed up at his belly. Oreman's staff moved a blur and reflected the blow just in time, but Derrick didn't stop now, he swung his left hand around and connected it with Oreman's face, sending the king's head snapping backwards and falling backwards. Oreman landed on his back, with what looked like a broken nose.
Derrick walked up to the king.
"Get up," he said.
The king stared at Derrick, then grinned, "Okay then."
He crawled a few metres away from Derrick, then pushed himself to his feet, he summoned the staff to his hand, which he had dropped when he fell. He lent over on his knees, puffing, his back turned away from Derrick.
"You're one good fighter," said Oreman, "Better than I expected, but you're to soft, which is why... you are no use to me."
He spun around and raised his hand in the same motion, shooting a stream of darkness. Derrick just swung his sword up, and deflected the magic into a nearby pile of rubble. The rubble imploaded into a black hole, that swurled around and swallowed all the nearby meterials, then disappeared. The king took a step back.
"Who are you?" said the king, now starting to tremble with fear.
"Your demise," replied Derrick, letting the Forbidden Blade be engulfed in shadow.
Shadowrang dodged another paw swipe from Terror, dodging his every move, doing all these fancy tricks, and when he had the chance he shot a blast of shadow into the dragon. He dodged another swipe, then turned towards the dragon, and charged. Terror didn't even know what hit him. Shadowrang turned himself into pure shadow, then he seemed to split into a five long shadow spears, they all hit Terror in the chest, then came out the other side. Terror was blasted into a nearby pile of rubble, and didn't move again. Shadowrang reformed himself then looked towards the dragon. He lowered his head.
Derrick struck at Oreman, his blade swurling with shadow. Oreman blocked one blow after another, but everytime he did his staff was almost flung out of his hands. Derrick kept up with his hits, never slowind down, in fact, he seemed to be going faster. The king blocked franticly, trying his best not to be knocked to the floor. Suddenly Derrick knocked the staff from the kings hand and struck him across the chest. It wasn't a hit that would kill, because the blade was made off Shadow, but it still hurt the king a lot, and blasted him along the floor, but Derrick didn't stop there, he raised his blade over his head and jumped towards the king, yelling a war cry.
The king cried out in surprise and summoned the trident to his hands, and blocked the blow like you would do with a quarter staff. The two blades met together in a humoungous crash. Cracks ran through the staff and the two powerful weapons were held together for a few moments, then the staff shattered, pieces flying everwhere, and the Forbidden Blade kept on going on its path, into Oreman's heart.
I woke up, shooting out of bead, breathing rapidly. It took me a moment to recognise where I was. I was still in my room, and my bed. I thought back to the dream and realised what had just happened.
"WE WON!" I yelled jumping out of my bed and thrusting my fist into the air, "WE WON!"
