Chapter 32: Fighting With the Mind
We stared into the sky for a few more minutes, trying to get another glimse of the Hydra. When it didn't come back I slowly led Rena inside.
'What is happening?' I thought, 'First hundreds of lightning bolts start raining down, mostly on me, and now a Hydra. Is my imagination affecting this world as well?'
'I don't think so,' replied Reflamen, 'I think that whatever's happening is being caused by someone else.'
'Who, the King?' I said, 'I doubt he even know's about this world, and he wouldn't be able to create a Hydra.'
Reflamen seemed to think for a moment, 'Then I don't know.'
I sighed and slumped down on the couch. The news was on and it seemed to be about strange weather patterens, or something of the sought. When my siblings saw me they ran up to me.
"Derrick!" yelled Jasmine, "You're alright! Why are you still in that hospital gown?"
I looked down and saw what I was wearing.
"Oh, woops, I better get dressed," I said smiling, "Hey, it's good to be home."
Jay smiled, "It's good to have you back, we've missed you."
"I know," I said.
I felt bad for them. Sometime tonight I'm going to be going back to Reflamen's world, in a way. I got up and went to get some propar clothes. When I got dressed I walked back inside.
"They say it's going to rain today," said Regan, "So you better rug up."
I smiled and went back into my room and grabbed a jumper. As I walked out I daydreamed a bit, imagining some birds outside my window to get blown out, and then it started raining. The birds tried to fly but only succeeded in rolling backwards. They finally managed to get back into shelter and started to huddle against each other.
I was snapped out of my daydream when Jay ran around the corner.
"Hey," he said, "You wanna play castle crashers with us."
I looked over to the TV. It felt like forever since I had last played video games.
"Sure, why not," I said.
Jay smiled, "Come on then."
We played the game for the next few hours, until dinner, which was almost four hours. A few times I 'cheated' and used my imagination to through an enemy away from my character, or for some impossible move to be made by me, but I couldn't help it, it jsut happened.
"Okay guys, time to get off now, dinners ready," said my mum.
I put down the controller and logged off, then walked over to the dinner table. Dad switched the news on. We all said grace then pilled food onto our plates. I was starving, the food over at the Resistance was good and all, but over here the food was a lot better. We all ate in silence.
"And now over to Brunstown where we can get a closer look at the situation," said the lady on the news.
My head instantly snapped to the TV.
"Thank you Kelly," said the reporter, a man with brown hair and a mustache with a goatie, "There had been lots of strange weather around Brunstown for the past couple of days. Lightning striking then stopping halfway down, high winds and some people have even reported seeing strange dragon like creatures in the clouds. Scientists have no idea what to even call this, but they are working to figure out what is happening. Brunstown isn't the only city being affected. All the surrounding towns and cities seem to be having lightning striking very commonly in different areas. So far, no one has died but if things keep going the way they are then people will most likely be killed. Advice, stay in doors until the storm clears, schools will be canceled until further notice. Back to you Kelly."
The screen returned to the news lady.
"Thank you Brian," she said, "And now there is even stranger things happening in Brunstown. About three days ago something very unnartural was seen. There was a boy that seemed to be flying, and being struck by lightning. He appeared from nowhere and looked to be going very fast. Over to you Shela."
The screen changed again to a place I recognised as the marshlands behind our house.
"Thank you Kelly," said Shela, a blond haired lady with brown eyes and a narrow face, "Now, a few days ago a boy was seen flying over the marshlands. He was being struck by lightning from lots of different sides but none of them seemed to actually hit him. One man, who wants to remane nameless, caught it on camera. Here it is."
The screen then switched to some very poorly taken footage. It was all shakey and blury but you could see lighting striking a boy who was flying.
'Oh great,' I thought, 'How did that happen. I had protected the place from sight.'
"The man was walking through the marshlands, hoping to get some footage on the natural birds there," continued the reporter, "He wasn't getting much luck, and then suddenly a boy flew up from the hills. He had a shimmer around him, like he was transparent. Some people are still debating weather this is true or not but I will give you updates on the things to come. Over to you Kelly."
The screen switched again.
"Thank you Shela, now onto further news."
I looked away from the screen and onto my plate, suddenly I didn't feel very hungry.
"Hey mum," I said, "Can I leave now?"
My mum looked at my plate, "You sure you don't want anything else."
I nodded, "Yeah, I'm sure."
"Okay then," she said.
I stood up and picked up my plate. I walked over to the sink and put it in. I then walked over to my room. I sat down on the bed. It was only seven thirty but I felt like I was exausted. I lay down on the bed and was about to go to sleep when I was interupted by Reflamen.
'Hey wait!' he said, 'You still have to do that thing you were going to do.'
'Oh yeah,' I said, 'Thanks for the reminder.'
I got out of bed and picked up the peace of paper. I then wrote, 'keep out, important business happening here'. I imaginered some stick tape into my hand the taped in to the door.
'There we go,' I said.
I then imaginered a lock onto the door, and locked the door. I closed the blinds, so no one outside could see what I was doing. I then got onto the bed and sat down cross legged. I started to imagine.
I imagined the battle that was going on betweent he Resistance and the King. I imagine the city of Taknor in complete ruins. Fire was everwhere and dragons were flying around in the sky like they were birds. The Resistance was only on one side of the city. Spell caster were throughing fire and earth boulders into the city, and the soldiers were trying to make a push through.
The sky was red, blood red. The kings palace was the only thing that didn't look gloomy within the red haze. I saw a few soldiers fall into the flames and burn to a crisp. I spotted Rogan flying around on Sophire, with his dragon army fighting around him. I spotted Derrick and Shadowrang flying through leagues of Dragons, trapping them all in Shadow.
Even with all there efforts, the Resistance was getting pushed back, slowly, but steadily.
'What a battle,' I said.
'You got that right,' replied Reflamen.
'At the rate they are going the Resistance is going to loose,' I said.
'Well do something about it,' said Relfamen.
I smiled. I then imagined a giant astroid falling from the sky. It landed right in the middle of the kings army, squashing almost a hundred soldiers, and wounding over a score. The soldiers went into panic. They looked towards the sky and some of the dragons roared in fright. I mean, it was no every day and metoer fell to earth.
'That was fun,' I said, 'Time to cause a bit more damage.'
I imagined meteors starting to rain down on the kings army, and the walls, making them collpase into rubble. A few of the houses were also destroyed.
'I hope none of the innocents get hurt,' I said.
'Well why don't you put a force field around them or something,' said Reflamen.
'Good idea,' I said.
I imaginered force fields around the houses, so when meteors hit them they just fell off.
'The Resistance is starting to push forward,' said Reflamen excitedly.
Suddenly a large roar was heard across the battle field, then hundreds of dragons flew up from little pot holds in the ground. They were all from the king's army. They started to wing there way towards the dragons already there. I imaginered a few more astroids but the dragons just swerved out of the way, and sometimes even blasted them out of the sky.
'Okay, time for plan two,' I said.
I imaginered an army coming from the north. An army full of men ready to fight.
'Get ready Oreman,' I said, 'For you are going to be defeated.'
