Chapter 19: A Useful, but Troublesome Imagination
I wa laying in bed that night, thinking about what had happened that day. It seemed strange, but not strange at the same time, I mean, it's not every day you see a guy with a gun jump over your fence. I sighed and layed back in my bed.
I usually find it very hard to sleep, usually because I imagine stuff so much when I'm in bed I find it hard to fall asleep, so I lay in bed, thinking about Derrick, and how he was going on his mission, and Rogan, as he organises the resistance in case of another attack, he was still trying to figure out how the men got up those cliffs.
My mind returned to this world, and I remebered the guy with the gun, the guy I had made up. It was just a thought, but it came true. This was going to be very interesting, maybe I could do stuff from books, like the using magic from the Inheritance Cycle, or maybe bending elements, or maybe even shape shifting, or... FLYING! That would be awsome.
I sighed, I was definitly going to try that last one out tomorrow. I was getting board again, and felt myself fazing out again. I started to trace my finger in a circle, imagining colourful sparkles floating near the roof starting to follow my finger.
I sat straight up in bed.
'No way!' I thought.
The sparkles started to fade away again, leaving slight clour pinpricks behind, but the thing was, sparkles had actually appeared and started to follow my finger.
'What is it?' groaned Reflamen, who had just woken up because of my outburst.
'Nothing,' I replied, 'Just go back to sleep.'
Reflamen didn't listen to me and started to search my memories for the answer.
'Reflamen! Just go back to sleep,' I said to him.
'That's one weird problem you got going on there,' said Reflamen, 'What would happen if you were in class, and I know you aften do this, and you imagine the white board eraser thing to go flying up and hit the teacher in the head, or those times when you imagine a sniper on the roof, trying to kill you, and when they shoot you block the bullet with you hand, how would you explain the bullet. The sniper alone will cause enough chaos.'
'You're right,' I replied, 'This could actually be very troublesome, although the eraser thing would be pretty funny.'
'I know,' said Reflamen, 'Now get back to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a big day if your imagination keeps acting up way it has so far.'
'You're making it sound like a disease,' I laughed.
'Yay, the best disease ever. You can make and do whatever you want, as long as you don't go to overboard you won't kill yourself,' said Reflamen sarcastically.
'Got that right,' I replied laughing, 'Now, go to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a big day.'
'Good night,' said Reflamen and he was instantly asleep.
I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to get back to sleep, until I found myself starting to imagine again.
'This is going to be a long night,' I thought.
It was a long time until I got to sleep, but when I did I slept soundly, no dreams or anything like that. I slept through the morning, and when I finally woke up it was mid-morning, about ten thirty. I lay in bed for a few seconds then sat up, yawned, then stretched.
I swung my legs over the side of my bed and stood up.
'Morning,' I said to Reflamen.
'Morning sleepy head, you know if you slept in this late while you were around in this world I would probably dunk a bucket of water on you,' said Reflamen.
'Not jump on me?' I asked.
'No, I'm probably to big for that now, I'm finding it hard to fit in the tent,' said Reflamen.
'What! Your that big already,' I exclaimed, 'You're groing very fast.'
'I know,' said Reflamen proudly, 'I'm the biggest in my class. Sophire said that if I keep groing at this speed then I'll be big enough to ride when you wake up! They are starting to 'weight' me, or something like that, which means that they're putting heavy sacks on my back and making me fly with them. It's hard at the moment but I'm getting stronger by the hour!'
'Congrats,' I said smiling.
With that I walked into the kitchen. This was my second day here, so tomorrow I'll be back with Reflamen. I smiled and made my way to the kitchen table.
"Morning!" I yelled out to the house.
"Morning," replied my mother, who was at in the kitchen putting away the rest of the breakfast dishes, "Thank goodness your awake, I was beginning to worry that you had already fainted again."
I smiled, "Na, you have to wait till' tomorrow."
Rena smiled, "Well at least you have a little more time."
I laughed.
I walked over to the cuboard and pulled out a packet of cheerios, then got the milk and a bowl and sat down to have breakfast. I looked over to the TV and saw my brothers playing Halo, and Jasmine on the computer doing some sort of horse game.
Once I had finished my breakfast I was tempted to go to my computer and play some games, but then I remembered all the training I still had to do.
'I only wish I still had my sword from Rogan, but that is back with my other body,' I thought.
I then had and idea. I got up.
"Hey mum, do you mind if I go out?" I asked.
"No not at all," replied Rena, "Just don't be out to late."
I nodded then ran out to the front, then I remebered I still had to get dressed. I sighed and ran back inside, got dressed, then ran back outside to put my shows on. I jumped over our back fence and into that marshland place next to my house.
'Okay, how am I going to do this?' I thought, then I remebered the little vally like area over at the steep hills.
I started to make my way to the hills, but I realised that the whole place was almost covered completely with water. It had probably rained a lot when I was away, and now everything was flooded.
'Oh great,' I thought, 'Now what."
I started to walk towards the huge mashy 'lake'. This didn't look like a possible task. I stopped at the edge of the marsh, trying to think of a way through, but, as always, my mind began to drift to impossible things. I sighed and made a parting gesture with my hands, imagining the water to part, and it did.
I gasped in surprise, my imagination was more powerful then I thought. As soon as I stopped imagining the water went back to it's normal place. I did the parting guesture again, but nothing happened. Then I imagined the water parting, and it did.
'Okay,' I thought, 'Imagination is the key.'
I started to walk through the now dry marshlands to the other side. I must say, it was very interesting to see water on either side of me, but not caving in. At one point I saw a turtle, swimming along the edge of the 'wall'. When I made it to the other side I imagined the water to close again, and it did, with a gigantic splash.
I walked into the mountains, imagining again. This time a swung my hand up, imagining a piece of rock to go flying into the air, and it did.
"Wow," I gasped.
This was so cool. I thrust my hand forward and imagined a huge shockwace to burst fourth from my hand, and it did, it also crashed through the side of the hill, leaving a huge hole. I sighed and imagined the hole to close. It filled in rather quickly. This was getting better and better by the second.
I started imagining random things, like fire suddenly shooting out of the earth, or hundreds of battalions of soldiers charging towards me. It all happened, and once I had finished with the battalion, which took almost an hour, I decided to go home.
This time I imagined winds swirling around me, then picking me of the ground. I put my hands by my side and I flew, the winds helping me, back to my house.
When I did land, making sure no one saw me. I walked back inside to a worring mother and father.
"Where have you been!" yelled Rena, "We were so worried, we thought you had fainted again, out in the middle of the marshes!"
I winced, "Sorry, but I was just trying out some things and I lost track of time."
"Well don't do it again!" yelled Rena.
I know my mum loved me and all, but sometimes it just gets to much.
"I won't, sorry," I said, "Can I go to my room now?"
"Okay," said Rena, "but don't ever frighten us like that again."
I walked to my room thinking about the last thing my mother had said.
"Sorry mum," I said under my breath, "But I can't promise you that I won't frighten you again."
I thought back to the dream I had a few nights back, the one where the school exploded.
'I just hope that doesn't happen.'
