Lived in slavery

Died in the deepest sorrow

Fenced in by unfavourable fate

Isolated from glory and victory

Yet, they still abide and bow

Yes, they are, the women in bondage

The thing they can endure is only pain

Try shouting out their dried mind

Shouting out, like there were no grammar and rule

Expecting such an impossible thing, like a fool

Hoping the sovereigns will understand the sign

They want nothing else as their only desire is to break away from that chain

People said that Renaissance is the freedom for everybody

The Roman Empire has fallen to bring the heyday

And the Middle Ages come to end the cry

But why women still lose their equality?

Why they still get abused this day?

Is freedom only such a pie in the sky?

A/N: This is my very first poem. I made it when I was in the 5th semester at my college. Actually I'm not really into literature and I took linguistic major at that time. So, I have nothing to do with literature stuff like poetry and something like that. But because of something, the class got a punishment from the lecture to create a poem which consisted of words related to History of language. And I come with this work. Magically, I become more interested in reading and writing poem after re-read this poem three months ago. I hope you guys like this poem. From the title, you can interpret what the poem tells us about. Yes, you're right. It's about gender equality for women. Gender equality is always a hot issue. I just got inspired by the situation about women in my surrounding. Everyone may have a different perspective on this. You can say I'm too biased or a feminist or anything. But this was what I thought about gender equality at that time. And it's still the same right now. I hope you guys can understand what I mean. I'm still an amateur, but I'd love to learn more.
