quick thing for writers having difficulty representing your character. try first person perspective. i know that the recent teen fictions and their good at everything oblivious protagonists have ruined it, but it's actually really helpful for helping you create an unique character. think about their thoughts, their way of looking at the world and beyond. do they think in fragments or long extensive paragraphs? do they have time to think using sophisticated words or are they quite concise? do they think of the person's eyes or the clouds behind them when they talk to them? are they aware of their surroundings? try writing a short fragment of a normal day in their lives. see if you can find something they do that others don't. thanks for coming to my ted talk.
