◦ from day one, konu has always been one of the 'adults' of the group along with sterling and dylan. but unlike the other two, he wasn't as serious or intense as the other two could be, which earned him more of a big brother title, and he hated it. so, he started calling himself captain and pushing everyone else to call him that too even though he didn't necessarily see himself as the person steering the ship at all -- he just thought that it sounded cool.

◦ konu has always had an incredibly sharp tongue, and that's really what he's been known for since day one, literally. he and jae had always butted heads in the same way siblings do, and they ended up doing that multiple times in the first live the group ever did which is what earned him the nickname.

◦ while he was known for his ability to keep a straight face regardless of what was going on, he was also known for his uncanny ability to replicate the faces people made perfectly, and he did it all the time. but jae was definitely his favorite person to do it to, especially because of how much it annoyed him. and it was in that annoyance that he one day called him a face stealer, and eventually everyone started using it too.

despite frequent comparisons to a robot, or claims that his face is so neutral that it could be mistaken for a mask, konu is actually a very emotional person. he feels his emotions very intensely and has an intense connection and understanding of what he's feeling and often where those emotions are coming from. and that knowledge of his own emotions has also allowed him to be a very empathetic person. but, unlike most people around him, he prefers to keep his emotions to himself and allow others to work through their emotions on their own (as long as they're doing so in a healthy way).

his family has always been very private people, and he's continued to do the same as he's gotten older. he prefers to work through his emotions by himself, regardless of how long that may take, which has evolved into him being a good problem solver and very patient. but, his tendency to assume that other people can do the same has lead to people accusing him of being closed-off or cold towards other people, but, he just doesn't want to force help on other people and trusts that if someone needs his help with something then they'll ask him for it.

he's a very flexible person which is as helpful as it can be frustrating. he's as comfortable as going to a massive party as he is staying in and having a movie marathon; which has made it easy for him to make friends. while he was never and has never considered himself to be particularly popular he's generally so laidback and easy to get along with that he's never had to put much effort into making friends and growing up was well-liked by most of the people around him.

though that's not to say that he's a pushover. he is very outspoken and direct when it comes to his thoughts and opinions and refuses to compromise on the things he thinks are right. in the past, it's led to him getting into arguments or all-out physical fights with people who he deems as assholes, which has had some former classmates label him as a bad boy, but he just sees himself as having a strong sense of justice and being protective of the people around him.

he strives to make sure the people around him feel comfortable and safe, whether or not he knows them personally. and while sometimes that requires him to verbally eviscerate someone, it more often presents itself in very subtle ways. he's very private and gets uncomfortable with any sort of public affection. being suddenly forced into a hug by one of his groupmates or being caught in one of the rare moments of him seeking out affection from someone else is one of the few times he shows how easily embarrassed he is. at his core, he's deeply prideful, and because of that has always had a very high sense of self-confidence, but that's also created a deep fear of failure that makes any perceived 'failing' he or the group goes through very hard for him.

but, even during his hardest times, his main priority is making sure that the rest of his group mates are alright. as one of the older members of iMAGE (and seemingly the one who has a decent grip on his mental health), he's taken it upon himself to make sure everyone is taking care of themselves. and though everyone loudly says that sterling is the glue that holds the group together, konu is the glue that helps each member keep themselves from falling apart.

konu grew up in busan with his parents; park jaehwa and gim youngsoo and his older sister park hyunjae.

his childhood was fairly uneventful; the most notable thing about his family is that they were always extremely busy, and rarely were they busy doing the same things. which meant that his house was often chaotic and disorganized with everyone constantly rushing around and trying not to run into each other as they changed, or ate, or grabbed something. which doesn't sound great on the surface, but ultimately meant that when they did manage to all be in one place at the same time they tried to enjoy themselves and do typical family bonding stuff as opposed to talking about more serious or deep topics.

as a result, he's always been a very self-sufficient and introverted person. for the first few years of school, he spent most of his time by himself; whether that meant sitting in the back of the room during breaks and drawing or lying outside and staring at the sky. it worried both his parents and teacher for a while, but he eventually grew out of it and easily made friends.

it was during junior high that some people tried to mess with him because of the blase attitude he had, but after a couple of physical confrontations, people got the message and started leaving him alone. and he also began helping any classmates he saw that were getting mistreated, earning him the label of 'bad boy' because of how many fights he would get into, but also is what ultimately got him into music.

after helping a girl get rid of a particularly relentless senior who refused to take no for an answer after confessing his feelings for her, she offered to take him to one of the underground rap battles she frequented, which he agreed to, and from the moment he stepped inside he fell in love with rapping. by the time they left, he decided that no matter what he was going to work hard to become a rapper.

originally he just wanted to be able to battle other rappers, but as he continued to grow his skills and get more into the writing/composing/producing side of things, he decided he wanted to be able to create and share his songs too which led him to the world of kpop. after looking into how to make his dream happen he decided that the massive companies weren't really what he was looking for so he started looking and auditioning for smaller companies. and out of all the companies he auditioned for, rebel entertainment was the only one that invited him to join, and he decided to accept.

unknowingly he became the first trainee to join the company, and because of that, he spent the first few months training by himself while under the impression he would either debut as a solo artist or as part of a hip-hop group. but, he was eventually convinced by ceo shi to become the first member of a boy group that the company wanted to create. despite his initial hesitation about it, he knew it was the right choice as soon as sterling joined, and had been happily putting up with his group mates shenanigans since.

◎ he has pretty severe arachnophobia and is known to lose his mind whenever he sees a spider, no matter how small it might be. it's something he tries to keep to himself because of how embarrassed he is by both the fear itself and the reactions he gives when he sees one, but it didn't take long for each of his group mates to witness his fear firsthand. which has ultimately made things easier because no one argues or makes fun of him when he asks for someone to get a spider for him.

◎ he plays a lot of video games, though he has a preference for first-person shooters and racing games. to him, they're an easy way to relax and keep him from overanalyzing his thoughts and emotions. so, when he's feeling particularly overwhelmed or needs some time away from everyone he'll usually lock himself in a room for a couple of hours and play through one of his comfort games again to calm himself down.

◎ besides music, konu also uses painting as a way to express his thoughts and feelings. he originally attempted to paint images from life, but it didn't take long for him to realize he was horrible at that. so, he moved toward creating more abstract pieces. the type of art he makes changes every time he puts a brush to canvas but the color palette almost always remains within the neutrals he is comfortable with — not that anyone minds. he started selling most of his art after gaining some notoriety as a musician and gives any money he makes to different charities, and gifts the ones he doesn't sell to friends and family.

◎ he absolutely loves hiking and is known for randomly revealing that he'd just gone on some strenuous hike that completely exhausts whoever he's forced to come with him right before dragging someone else to another one. despite its cliche-ness, he's found that fresh air really does do wonders for his mental health so he tries to get as much of it as he possibly can; and force everyone else to do the same.

◎ he is obsessed with spice and has been on a multi-year mission to finally find something spicy enough to earn a reaction out of him but it has yet to happen. instead, he continues to eat the spiciest stuff he can find and worry everyone around him.

◎ when he first started writing music and performing it for people, he would get extremely frustrated by constantly feeling like he didn't have the words to express what he wanted to. so, he started reading through dictionaries to grow his vocabulary, and it worked. suddenly he could insult people without them understanding what he was doing; which he thought was hilarious. it's something he's stopped doing as much as he's gotten older, but he continues to try and grow his vocabulary in whatever way he can.

◎ in 2020 he decided to get a dog after having wanted one since he was little and ended up getting a german shepherd that he named bear and immediately fell in love with. they've been attached at the hip since they met at the shelter and konu quickly became the ultimate dog dad. he takes him pretty much everywhere with him and very happily spoils him; much to his friend's dismay. (saturn and sterling often jokingly complain that konu no longer pays as much attention to them, but after bear goes over and flashes them his puppy eyes that usually stop).

◎ after a lot of pleading with his parents he was finally allowed to learn how to play the drums when he was around ten years old, and he's been playing ever since. it's not something he really talks about because he doesn't have a desire to play for anyone else; he wanted to learn how to play so he could have another way to relax and get his adrenaline pumping. but, he ended up being convinced to play with a few of his other group mates for a cover they wanted to do, and also subsequently ended up revealing that he could also play the guitar and piano.

◎ because of how bad konu is at sleeping at night, he can often be found passed out in weird places during schedules. since he finds that he works best and is most productive when everyone else is sleeping, he tends to stay up until two or three in the morning, sleep for as long as he can, wake up and chug some coffee, and then nap whenever and wherever he can during the day. he knows it isn't the best habit, but it works for him so he's decided to keep doing it until it becomes a problem.

◎ despite being willing to drink alcohol, and consuming it on a fairly regular basis, he is always extremely nervous when he does so because he genuinely hates getting drunk. it's something he's only done a handful of times in front of the rest of the members but since they'll never allow him to forget it he's vowed to never allow them to experience it again. because when he's drunk he becomes the exact opposite of who he is normally, and he hates it so much. but, he also really enjoys winding down with something alcoholic at the end of the day. so, going out usually brings him a lot of anxiety.
