minsu is probably the most level-headed person you could meet. he's always loved learning things and taking in as much information as he could, and often processes and tries to solve situations through a very analytical lens. which sometimes makes him seem very indecisive or very unhelpful but he sees it as him being impartial and objective. he'd rather take his time with a situation and be as fair as possible with any solution he could come up with, and he is very much a solution-focused person. and though he isn't the first person people turn to for help with things, he is an amazing problem-solver because he doesn't let up until he can come up with something that everyone can be happy with.

he's a passionate and hard-working person who puts everything into the things he cares about, and strives for perfection in everything he does. he stresses the most about everything the group does and often stresses about the other members' individual projects too. people often say that he's a worrier, which he can agree with, but he does so out of concern for others. he's very compassionate towards the people around him and wants to make things as easy for other people as possible.

it's why he tries to have the rest of his life be as peaceful as possible. some of that comes from pulling on habits he's formed over the years to help calm himself down, but it mostly comes from him keeping his life as private as possible. he's managed to cultivate a very safe and sacred space for himself and his partner, and he's very protective over it. it's one of a small number of things that he can get extremely defensive over, especially when people push him on it. he's always been very big on creating boundaries and gets extremely irritable when those boundaries are pushed too far.

anger is not a feeling he experiences often, but when it does it can get bad. instead of being very in your face and immediate when it comes to his anger, he usually becomes very passive-aggressive and quiet; tending to stew in his emotions instead of letting them out. and when those feelings finally rise to the surface, he can be very cruel. he's very observant of the people around him and overall is very intentional with everything he says and does, and can dig right into people's biggest insecurities. but, he always feels extremely guilty afterward and apologizes profusely.

born unexpectedly to two high school sweethearts not too long after they both had graduated, minsu has been spoiled since he was little. not to a crazy degree -- his parents always made sure he stayed humble and friendly, but since he was young he's always known that his parents would do whatever they could for him, and that helped him thrive very early on. he learned how to read extremely early in life and was known as a very smart and studious kid; earning him the label of best student and earning him constant praise from his teachers, which made him an early target for his classmates.

his studious and shy nature combined with the clear favoritism he got from some of his teachers, he quickly became a target of bullies. it wasn't a surprise for him to arrive home with some sort of physical injury or in tears and need to be comforted by one or both of his parents because of how sensitive he used to be. and after a few years of that, his dad made the executive decision to enroll him in martial arts classes in hopes it would help him gain more confidence; which it did. in both general life and singing, which is something he had always loved doing.

he eventually convinced his parents to let him audition for america's got talent, a show he'd been fascinated by from the moment he saw it, and when he was around eleven his mom accompanied him to los angeles so he could fulfill that dream, and he managed to make it to the semi finale.

that success was the first confirmation he got outside of his family that singing was something he was good at and was the beginning of his determination to make a name for himself in the music industry. so, after spending the rest of that year in los angeles he returned to south korea with renewed vigor and started training and improving at an even faster rate. and alongside that, he returned to school and the bullying that went along with it; although this time, those comments and actions didn't affect him even half as much as they had before because of how much he'd grown during his time away.

he spent two years working on his singing and martial arts while also doing school and teaching himself how to dance before he decided to try and get into the music industry again.

initially he decided to audition for hybe corporation after spotting a flyer stating that the company was looking for new people to join as trainees, and ended up getting accepted. he trained there for a total of three years alongside most of the members of bts but ended up leaving before debuting for multiple reasons. and then he moved to jyp entertainment where he stayed for a year before again leaving and joining cube entertainment, where he trained for two years and became close friends with he members of btob and pentagon. however, he didn't end up debuting with either group and ultimately ended up leaving the company.

he ended up being approached by rebel entertainment soon after he left cube entertainment and was offered a spot on the boy group they were creating; which he ultimately agreed to. he was the fourth member to join the, at the time, unnamed group, and found that everything about the company and the group was the exact fit he'd been looking for. so, he stuck with them and ultimately ended up debuting with the group and becoming an integral part of it at that.

◎ since he was young, mint has always been fascinated by baseball. his father took him to a game when he was very young, and since then he's loved watching people play the sport. he's made it a tradition since he debuted to take his dad to at least one game a year, and is even known to drag some of the other members to games with him whenever he can. though he's just as happy going to one by himself.

◎ he has a soft spot for manga that started when he was little and has amassed a large collection of them over the years that he keeps in a very special bookcase that no one else is allowed to touch. some of his favorites are my hero academia, demon slayer, astro boy, assassination classroom, and banana fish.

◎ in 2020 mint decided to take a few online college classes to help further his constant desire to learn, and as of 2022 it was reported that he'd paused his studies but was planning to take more classes in the future. one of his dreams is to one day be able to teach a class on something so he can spread what he knows to other people.

◎ his first tattoo was gotten on a whim (and illegally) after he'd left big hit. it was the word 'temporary' between his collarbones as a reminder to himself that despite a lot of things in life being temporary, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it started his obsession with getting them. at first, he limited himself to getting them after leaving a company, but after joining rebel entertainment he abandoned that and allowed himself to get them whenever he wanted to and is already planning several other designs to add to the collection.

◎ after having a long-standing fascination and appreciation of reptiles, in 2020 he finally bit the bullet and got two pet snakes. their both hog nose snakes named cinnamon and clove respectively, and he takes every opportunity to show them off that he can get.

◎ he really loves honey butter chips. there something he's loved since he was young, and he used to go through bags of them faster than his parents could buy them, and that's not something he ever grew out of. he keeps a large stash of them in the dorms at all times and has been spotted in enough videos eating them that several compilations have popped up of him being in love with the delicious snack.

◎ mint is proficient in using both hapkido and taekwondo after his father enrolled him in classes for both martial arts, and is known to incorporate it in his dancing whenever possible, along with randomly demonstrating moves on the other guy.

◎ over the years he's gained an interest in spirituality, specifically tarot, crystals, and meditating. he's become a frequent tarot user over the years and tries to do at least a spread a day for either himself or the other members and has amassed a large collection of tarot decks over the years along with a large crystal collection. and he isn't shy about talking about how all three items have helped him improve mentally and helped him keep himself calm.

• he's always had a soft spot for musicals and goes to see one whenever he gets the chance to or watches any recordings of them he can get his hands on. his favorites are pippin, wicked, hamilton, and the lion king.

◎ the relationship he has with his parents is very important to him so he makes it a point to try and call them at least once a week if not more, along with inviting them to everything he can. when they were finally able to make it to one of iMAGE's shows and he saw them in the audience he ended up bursting into tears and was unable to speak properly for almost ten minutes afterward.
