Chapter 11

It had been two weeks since Morgan and Emily talked with her parents. They had signed documents transferring legal guardianship of Florence onto Emily. It was going okay. They were still trying to figure out all of the younger ones triggers and how to handle them.

Luckily for them it was almost summer so Emily had decided that Florence would take a small break and then they'd go into the summer. The older one prayed that the three months would be enough time for her younger sister to heal and learn how to adjust to the new environment.

"Hey Sweetheart. I was thinking we could go shopping. Get you some new clothes and decorations for your room. We could invite Garcia and JJ if you want." Emily watched her younger sister slowly eat another bite of cornflakes.

Eating was one thing the younger one clearly struggled with. Maybe it was just because she wasn't used to it, but maybe it was more.  The agent still wasn't sure. Just like she wasn't sure what she should do about it.

The younger girl nodded. She was quiet, something that she knew was still worrying her older sister, but she just didn't know how to talk to someone about everything.

Well talk to someone in general. For most of her life she had been on told that her opinion didn't matter and wasn't worth being shared and now Emily was constantly asking her for her opinion on anything.

"I was thinking if you want to really like paint the walls we could ask Derek for help. He's really great at renovating." Emily took a sip from her coffee as she watched her sister.

The girl just shrugged and looked down. Emily really didn't need to spend that much money on her. She heard a soft sigh and steps.

"Okay let's just focus on clothes for now. Please go get ready once you're finished." Instead of finishing the cereal Florence just got up from the chair and threw the rest away. Before starting to clean the dish. Then she just left to her room upstairs.

Emily looked worried as her sister left the room. The kid had maybe ate a third of her cereal, at most half of it. Her sisters eating habits were concerning her a lot, but she wasn't sure if she was just imagining it and her sister just needed time to adjust.

Florence came back downstairs. She was still mostly dressed in the clothes she had to wear in the school or at least were approved by the school. So right now she was wearing a summer dress. It was white with intricate stitching on the sleeves, that covered most of her upper arms. The dress was one of those flowy dress that covered you till over the knees. Her hair was in a half up half down hairstyle.

She looked pretty but like she was out of place. Like she was still trying to play the part of the high class daughter/trophy wife. But Emily hoped that finding her other clothes, that belonged to the girl and not her, would help with that.

Still she gave her sister a warm smile and walked over to tug a strand of her back. "You look so beautiful sweetheart." Flo smiled a little as she leaned into her sister.

The two girls put their shoes in and got onto Emily's car. It was quiet at first but then something unusual happened. "Emi?" The agent hummed and looked over at her sister. "Can I turn on the radio?"

It surprised the older sister, as far as she could remember this was the first time her sister had actually verbalized a wish or need of hers. So far she always had to ask her multiple times for an answer.

"Sure you can. I don't mind at all." So they listened to some songs that were running on the radio. Florence didn't seem to know any of them, but she smiled as the music played.

When they stopped at the mall Emily waited till the last song finished before she turned the engine off. "Let's go. JJ and Penny should wait for us already."

Florence followed her sister inside the mall.  It wasn't really full, which made her glad. If the mall had been completely full she'd probably freak out. "Emily. Florence." She heard Penelope's Voice. The woman sounded way to excited, but Florence managed to smile at her.

The next three hours Emily, JJ and Penelope pulled her from one store to another. They let her try different types of pants and shirts. None of them felt really natural to her, but they were pretty. The feeling natural would hopefully come soon enough.

At first they had tried to get her to try on bright colored clothes but she felt so uncomfortable and clearly portrayed to the outside that they stopped. So she ended up with two bags of soft and pastel colored clothes.

Right now they were standing in another store, where Emily and her friends were trying to find her some more jeans and maybe sweaters. Florence was walking down the aisle alone. Her hands touched a few of the sweatshirts as a blouse caught her eye.

It was a dark purple one with slightly puffy arms and it was covered with stars. She smiled as she touched the fabric. It felt just as nice as it looked.

"That's pretty, do you wanna try it on?" JJ asked, the profiler had watched the younger girl for the past few minutes in hopes to figure out what the girls real style was or if the kid even knew.

"Maybe." The girl pulled it out and started carrying it around the store. The blonde followed her to Emily. She watched as the younger one showed the blouse to her sister. JJ watched as her friend nodded excitedly and showed her sister a black denim overall to pair with the blouse. Then the two walked to the changing rooms.

When the girl walked out the agents saw her smile for the first time. While the other outfits made her look good and she seemed somewhat comfortable in them this was her and they could see it in her face.

So for the next hour they tried to look for similar outfits in the store and ended up finding a few. When they walked out of the store they were carrying five bags and the kid seemed a lot more relaxed than a few hours ago.

"Let's go get some food. I'm starving." Emily  looked around as if trying to find a gold Place. "I know a place that has great sandwiches." Penelope said and pulled Florence with her, making the other two follow them.

They reached a small cafe and set down in a booth. A young redhead came towards them carrying menus. "Hey I'm Carrie I'll be your server today." Florence looked over the menu to find the best possible food option for her allowed calorie intake, but she didn't find anything that fit and wasn't extremely greasy.

"See anything you like?" Emily asked next to her, making her look up. She was scared. For some reason she knew that Emily wouldn't like her trying to restrict her calorie intake. Maybe she could cover it up with a diet her coach put her own for soccer. Sure that would work. Coaches put students on rigorous meal plans all the time, right?

Carrie came back and the three adults ordered before her. But then everyone looked at her. "Just a water and a Caesar Salad for me. Dressing on the side please."
She didn't see JJ and Emily exchange worried glances over the table.
